I'm slightly torn, to be honest. I really want Jaune to take a level in badass, meet her two volumes from now and make her pay, but I also don't want to have the most badass female character's death just be a catalyst for the straight while male protagonist to develop and beat up the also female villain.
Man, listen to me. What ever happened?

but more seriously, I think there's a greater connection between Ruby and Cinder than Jaune and Cinder. I totally get your concerns, and I doubt RT would go that route. I think Jaune is destined for something greater than to take down The Dragon.

I thought the year-long hiatus between volumes 2 and 3 was because of Monty's passing?
People would have rioted

I dunno, both Ruby and Jaune have a bone to pick with Cinder but Ruby has perks as the main character, meanwhile I can't imagine how angry some people would be if Pyrrha's death only served as motivation for Jaune. Then again, its the same with Ruby, so its kinda moot.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.

She's an enjoyable villain and I think this volume was her spotlight, she'll take a backseat to Salem later on. And Jessica Nigri's voice acting is awesome. I still want her to die a slow death, mind you.
