@New Guy: Not really?
Not every person gets to get their problems resolved. Had the tournament and Cinder's Plan come up, there was a chance that Arkos would get it worked out, hooked up, boinked like bunnies and everything would be dandy.
But life is not fair sometimes.
And her death was not pointless; it was to portray Cinder as a monster not much better than Grimm; not just a cruel schemer and manipulator, but someone who would cut down an innocent just because they got in her way.
Someone, I presume, Ruby would feel less inclined to spare.

x9 She mentioned throughout the entire volume that she wanted to fulfill her destiny and become a hero, which is why she opted to fight C Inder in the first place. She probably knew she didn't stand a chance, but she felt it was her job as a huntress to do something. She also finally let her feelings be known to Jaune before going.
That's a character arc as far as I'm concerned. And once again, stop getting so emotionally distraught over a fictional character, like seriously dude...chill out :\

I hope Phyrra have a sister or a diary where Jaune can know how much she love him and being crush....oh god please made that happen.

My theory is that they meet CFVY along the road, travel for a while together, then meet the "favorite Grimm" that was supposed to appear in volume 4. Which proceeds to headchomp Velvet, and drag Yatsuhashi away to his death after the fight goes south and they're forced to flee.

@blackyakuza I have a way around that. Phyrra was sent to cortana( that's what I'm going to call Salem). Salem corrupts and twists Phyrra to her will and sends her to demoralize the team. At the end of the volume, she comes face to face with Jaune. The confrontation starts as aI know your in there somewhere fight which transitions into a kill me or stay your hand which stalls Pyrrah. Finally, Jaune uses the link between her and him to engage in a battle in the center of the mind with evil Pyrrah and a mental image of cortana on one side and Jaune and a representation of the good still inside Pyrrah. Jaune and good Pyrrah win but Pyrrah becomes even more of hero with bad publicity. She decides to walk the earth for most of the next volume and returns to JNR in the last few episodes of the season

There's a difference between feeling sympathy for a tragic event and discerning reality from fiction; I'm upset too, but I still ultimately know its a fictional series so I'm completely distraught and breaking down either.

The bad guys put Pyrrha's soul into a suit of armor and she becomes the RWBY equivalent of Corrupted Artorias.
Anyone else kind of hoping that Salem is the oft-theorized humanoid Grimm?
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged Men@unknowing: JNPR is probably safe for the forseeable future, they might even be safe for the remainder of the series as far as deaths go (though other forms of trauma are fair game). Killing them all off in quick succession would lose its impact once it's clear they're all doomed.
SSSN seems more likely to end up involved in Blake's arc, if at all, and of the secondary teams (who aren't in Hate Sink territory), CFVY is the least developed, while still being fan favorites. If they're developed for an entire volume like Pyrrha was, then die at some point midway through volume 5, that would be heartbreaking.

@Demon: Not before trying and failing to fight her and getting horrifically burned for his trouble, only to get Rebuilt as a cyborg. Got to live up to the legend somehow, and killing them all off would just be kinda lame.

Now she is only a pile of ashes....
