You know, they'll have an additional merchandising opportunity with Yang now... Yang with a detachable right arm (and a possible mechanical replacement). One-armed Yang plush. And maybe a shirt or two. Now I feel sad...

Yep, but at least you have to try to make the audience care for the character. For example, Mami Tomoe died early but people still cared about her. And now she is forced to bear Head jokes for the rest of her life
Now, what is Neo going to do next episode to guarantee a "OMG worst character evah!" reaction?

x6 They wouldn't have cut off Yang's arm if they were just going to kill her. The Law of Conservation of Detail dictates that she's not dying for a bit.
I think JNPR is safe (for now) because they were explicitly stated to be "the second A-team" and most lack death flags.

@faso: The audience cared for Penny, cared for Roman, and would have mourned Ironwood if he had actually died. Pyrrha had the perfect opening to be killed in the last episode (ie the transfer succeeds, only for her to be shot by Cinder instead of Amber), and there's still a possibility of her dying in the next episode, specifically because she appears to have almost literally dodged a bullet.

Favourite moments in the show:
Shannon's - doing the Four Maidens WoR. Nora's voice actress - revealing Nora's Semblance. Jen's - the heavier stuff Pyrrha had to do.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.![]()

Well, someone's fate might be up in the air.
Neo might decide to use someone as a Living Crashpad, umbrella point first.

In an Evil Is Cool sense, all of them are likeable besides Adam who is just too damn creepy to be anything other than Love to Hate. In terms of actual likability, we have maybe Emerald as a Type II and big maybe Cinder and her master as Type IIIs.
Torchwick and Mercury (and probably Neo) are Psychos For Hire.

So I remember someone bringing up Cinder being a Villain Sue.
Yes, she is indeed a Villain Sue.
She hits every possible point, and her Evil Plan seems to be Tzeentch-level, except she's also not actively screwing herself over just because.
Seriously, every curve-ball she's had thrown at her has been negligible or actually aided her.
Seriously, if Cinder ever says "Just, as planned", I'm going to flip

Well, it's not over yet.
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyWhat did go wrong for cinder? Let's see:
- The train going off early. That actually didn't mattered.
- Torchwick is dead and Neo is M.I.A. Not a big loss, plus Neo is likely to show up next episode
- The robots are now back in the good guys hand. Not a problem because the Grimm already overwhelms the Hunters but also she has the Maiden powers.
The only thing against her right now is Ozpin incoming moment of Awesome...i hope.

I can't say I agree. Her plan was dealt a serious blow by the events of Breach due to Roman carrying out his part of the plan prematurely and getting captured. They probably would've had to come up with an entirely new one if Ironwood hadn't fucked up and plugged his iPhone into an unsecured network.

Hopefully, what ever Neo does overcomes her adorableness. I mean, she got Mary Poppinsed (Apparently that is the term for this scenario. Is there a word for 'carried off by wind via umbrella'?) and Roman apparently has concern for her. Makes you forget about her attempted murder, as well as stomping that one guy in the face.
For the record, the character deaths in ASOIAF are rather taken out of proportion, and I strongly disagree with the notion that they don't bring about satisfying conclusions to the characters' arcs. What happens is that the most notorious and shocking deaths (specifically Ned, Robb and Jon's — man the Stark men have it rough) reveal that the arc in question was a different one than what the audience was lead to believe.

The conclusions are satisfying, but not what you expect, as you said. I'd say Penny's death, if it sticks and we get some decent followup with her creator, is in that category.

Do you want a plot or not?

It's hard to say if RWBY is going there in terms of character mortality, but they killed two characters in three episodes (it would be three for three if Ironwood hadn't been a fake out), and I expect to see a third in the finale; either somebody important like Ozpin or Pyrrha, or a Sacrificial Lion like a member of CFVY or SSSN.
As far as Penny goes, if they don't set up a possible resurrection for her next episode (ie Ruby going back to the stadium to recover her head before departing for Atlas), I'm going to say more likely than not that she's gone for good, presumably because she had the aura of the (presumed) original Penny which is now gone.
