@Psyga: It's not magic, it's just the fact that computer data intrinsically more durable than the data stored in grey matter; a hard drive can sit around for years without power, be plugged back in, and work just fine. Stop a humans heart, and the data stored in the brain is irrevocably lost within minutes. Plus, if the theory that Penny was built as a Replacement Goldfish for the (human) daughter of her "father" is true, I can't imagine he wouldn't be looking to build another.
In fact, bringing Penny back without any memories of Ruby would raise some interesting existential issues for her; since in that scenario, an entirely new Penny was built, with an entirely new soul, perhaps with memories backed up to just before she went to Vale. If memories from Penny 1 are then copied over to Penny 2, she has even more reason to feel "not real" than before, even if for all intents and purposes, she is a continuation of the person killed by Pyrrha during the Vytal Festival Tournament.

Also, about what happened near the end... Oh, Jauney boy. Some parts of tumblr are blaming him. Even if he was paying attention, Ozpin is busy making the machine work. And Cinder is like, Level 420 to Jaune's Level 20.
Agreed. Lets face it, even if Jaune had stood guard, Cinder would've just swatted him aside anyway.
Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?Well, the plan was for Jaune to hold down cinder until ambrphrrya was complete but he coundt because he got distracted.
Also....I think penny is bettee death than roman, since there is not real reasion from penny to be back again.

"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"I honestly like how Torchwick went out and his entire fight in general because his rant and take out were all the result of him letting his frustration with Ruby's existence get the better of him.
Ruby had to fight him and Neo but I'm pretty sure at least twice she had to watch out for a Grimm nearly taking her head off. Whenever she stopped to talk it was just to give herself some breathing space. Roman was so ticked off that she once again was messing up his plan he stopped to prattle on about why he's doing this and that and forgot his surroundings.

Her apparent arc of "wanting to become 'real'" was cut short at what would otherwise have been a half-way point; even if she's gone permanently, (which requires an explanation since an AI isn't really dead from the perspective of an external observer until every backup of its memories have been deleted) I do expect her to have an impact on the plot posthumously; insofar as we have yet to meet her creator and learn about his motivations for building her, and Atlas's motivations for backing his project.
Roman on the other hand; it could go either way, but if he's not back in the next episode or in The Stinger, we can safely assume he's gone for good. His role in the plot has really only been "one of the villain's lieutenants", and while learning more about his past would be interesting, it probably wouldn't be plot relevant.

i didn't like his death
it was much too anticlimactic for such a great villain
plus like all of his character development happened in the span of thirty seconds before vore time
who hurt him

"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeWhile I'm not the biggest fan of an outside factor coming in to end the fight, I will say it makes sense at least that a Grimm would. After all, Roman was expressing a LOT of negativity there and we know that the Grimm are attracted to that. By contrast, Ruby remain resilient in her positive attitude in spite of all going on around her, making him the more appealing target.
@Ninety I'm the same in wanting it not to be canon because I find shippers obnoxious and willing to latch on to anything. I mean, the logic here behind why I keep hearing this episode "confirmed" it is laughable at best. A bad guy who said he'd destroy everything she loves (and don't think he means in romantic sense there, just cherish) sees she has a reaction to seeing someone show up. Said person gets angry when seeing a friend in danger (because clearly her anger HAS to be linked to romantic feelings, it can't be a matter of "HOLY SHIT MY GOOD FRIEND IS PINNED DOWN BY A MEMBER OF THE WHITE FANG!") and jumps in to try and help. That's it.
It's times like this that make me stop and wonder if shippers look in the mirror and realize how ridiculous this can come off to outside viewers and how it's grasping. Or how annoying it is to reduce all forms of caring to romantic lights. I'm not against romance in itself there, I'm against delusional fans trying to force interpretations.

Improving as an author, one video at a time.Just because it makes sense, it doesn't mean it is good. Like I would have been fine if there was some built-up to his death. But no, just suddenly a Griffon comes in and eats him. Like imagine if in the end of The Lion King, the Hyenas would have just come out of nowhere in the middle of Simba Vs. Scar battle and torn Scar into pieces.
Only sometimes postsLets chuck Torchwick into the Sorting Algorithm of Deadness, shall we?
Cause of death: Irony, 4
Audience Expectation: N/A, Too soon to say about RWBY.
Body Found?: Too soon to say, but Left for Dead, 1
Reaction: N/A
Last Words: Killed Mid-Sentence, 4
Characterization: Ensemble Dark Horse? 1
When?: Same arc, 1
Died and came back?: Nope, 4
Final Result: 2.5
I'm sure Torchwick will be back.

@ TPPR 10 Hence the reason I said I'm not the biggest fan of it or anything like that.
I'm with you there. I'm just trying to make sense of it outside of how unsatisfying I feel it was. Personally, I feel it robbed Ruby of having to do anything decisive there to get the job done or make a comeback at all. I'd be fine with Roman dying there if Ruby was more active in it. Plus given how things started to it ending there, I feel it be a better conclusion to Roman's arc.
Right now I feel he's in a weird place as if this is the conclusion, it's anti-climatic while if he really did survive, it's pushing it on how much they'll do to keep him around.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.

I sacrifice Team CRDL to summon Roman back to the field!
Continuously reading, studying, and (hopefully) growing.
