Again, he would have been caught in the explosion, fallen God knows how many meters onto solid ground, then have the wreckage fall right on top of his. Seriously, there's being in denial, then there's scuba-diving in it until you reach a 200 meter ravine.
Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!Maybe Neo caught him?
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/They@Gojira: If Roman doesn't make an appearance next episode, we can safely assume he's staying dead. Similarly, if Penny's remains don't make an appearance, we can (probably) conclude that Penny 1 is not being repaired. Of the two characters, I think Roman's death is more likely to stick. Particularly because Penny's arc didn't feel complete at all.
I was starting to think that Anyone Can Die was in effect when we had three apparent deaths in as many episodes, but with Ironwood's apparent death in the previous episode being a fake out, it seems like that's not going to be the case.

In fairness, I could see Roman's situation going either way. On the one hand, he had his monologue, revealed his motives, and likely did his part in Cinder's plan.
On the other, aura's existence means he could theoretically have survived the crash given he hadn't really taken much damage so his aura was still pretty full, there's still things he can add to the story due to those previously mentioned motivations, his death was pretty anticlimactic (although as another point against it, that may have been the point since he was talking about being a survivor), and the actual impact likely wouldn't have effected him as much since the Grimm would have taken the brunt of it, including the explosion, and would then dissipate afterwards, leaving him an easy way to walk out. Plus, Ironwood seems to be heading for the ship, leaving an obvious means for Roman to make an appearance.
I could see it going either way, and don't really care which happens, but I like Roman. I wouldn't mind him being dead because I could totally see Neo becoming a vicious enemy for team RWBY once she finds out. She might then join Cinder's team directly if she wasn't already a part of them, in hopes of getting revenge.
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/lb_i.php?lb_id=13239183440B34964700 Alfric's Fire Emblem Liveblog Encyclopedia!Judging by some of the abilities he displayed in this fight, he's got an active Aura and a Semblance.
I'm not the biggest Roman fan in the world and, like Alfric, I don't care whether he's alive or dead. However, I stand by my suspicions; I never believe a character is dead until it's been confirmed anyway and all we've seen in this episode is a situation that's little more than something we've seen other Aura-users survive (Ironwood, for example). That type of scene has so many examples in fiction of someone blasting their way out of the monster's gut that it's probably got its own trope. I see no point in trusting its face value.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. He was little more than an Ascended Extra to begin with. If he's dead, he had a good run; if not, more fun times to be had.

PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyFinally found time to watch the episode. Yikes, for a few seconds there I thought they were about to kill Yang off. Then I thought that Blake had bought it as a "Hah, you though you could feel relieved?" thing.
In hindsight, I should have known they probably wouldn't remove the B or Y in RWBY, but still.

Seriously though I checked out tumblr, and it seems a lot of people didn't want Adam to turn out like this. Mainly shipping stuff, but this episode really makes him feel like a threat. He's not so random joe to fuel parings he is out for revenge against someone he might love in a twisted way.
Well it did not seem like he cares all that much about the group right now considering how much he wants to hurt Blake.

Just Makima. He's leading the White Fang in a terrorist attack on Vale. I dare say that qualifies him as an extremist leader.

Just getting to see the episode.
Well, we haven't seen the last of Neo. I'm not sure we've seen the last of Roman - Grimm disappear when they die, and Ruby killed it pretty quickly after it swallowed Roman, so I'm betting he either blasted his way out of the thing or Ruby just saved his life.
Has Cinder really got all of Amber's power? Something definitely transferred to Pyrrha, and didn't travel to Cinder when Amber died. I think there's more to come from this.
My guess is that we won't see Ozpin fight. We might end up being led to believe Ozpin is dead, however, because he's either decided he needs to become invisible (in which case Cinder will think he's dead as well as the protagonists) or kidnapped (in which case Cinder will want the protagonists to think he's dead). This will probably all be Volume 4 stuff though, rather than next episode.
While I do think Ozpin is marked for death before the end of the show, I really think it's too early for him to be killed off. Ever since Port's talk with Weiss, I've been waiting for some kind of Awful Truth to be revealed about Ozpin - that's the sort of thing his character type needs to be alive for. He gets isolated and alienated by everyone until the full truth comes out just in time for his moment of glory before he dies.
