Too Dumb to Live is not for complaining about things you don't like.

Oh, no, I wasn’t complaining one bit. I just want to get some ideas and suggestions on what tropes we can use, as usual. I do use the "Is this an example?" thread and Trope Finder often, even in cases where some discussions on the relevant pages (i.e. character or work discussion pages) have reached an impasse or if I’m unclear about the appropriate trope(s).

[Madame and the stepsisters] had no reason to think that Cinder would one day have the ability to turn on them so successfully, even to the point of resisting the shock collar.

So, given that scenario, would it also fit under Didn't See That Coming or Didn't Think This Through?

When I asked on Trope Finder, I found two tropes that could fit with Cinder going berserk on her adoptive family: Rage Breaking Point and Unstoppable Rage.

Also, should we create a dedicated RWBY cleanup thread if it is absolutely necessary?

"I disagree with the notion of having to reveal a charachters sympathetic traits first before they do horrible things for them to be sympathetic,"

Is not before, it means having the right timing in order to make the impact, the more you take, the lest one care, Cinder show up in volume 1-2 and it took until volume 8, that is just too damn time to work, instead look hazel: he show up at volume 4, them volume 5 and again at volume 8, now he is improve, but the more it take, the less one give a damn.

[up][up] I think we're mostly fine off without a dedicated cleaning thread. That and other Tropers will look at it weirdly and go "... why is there an entire clean up thread dedicated to a cartoon?"

Remember, Cleanups are for misuses of Tropes. So, if anything, we'd bring up RWBY stuff in those respective threads.

In general, where RWBY is concerned, it's best to err on the side of caution.

  • Didn't See That Coming - I would argue that this falls under the (excluded) category of "known unknowns." She knew reprisal was a possibility - the shock collar attests to that - and everyone knows no countermeasure is perfect.
  • Didn't Think This Through - Except she did. Again, no countermeasure is perfect. There are probably thousands of other Cinders whose miserable lives played out just as intended by bosses no more cautious than Madame. Madame just drew the short stick.
  • Rage Breaking Point - It wasn't her rage that broke, was it? They didn't push her over the brink by finding the sword; they gave her an excuse. The hatred was already there.
  • Unstoppable Rage - This was a point she came to slowly, through discipline - almost the opposite of an Unstoppable Rage.

I think she can fit under Didn't Think This Through, she says 'I won't have to run now' to Rhodes, indicating she really never considered what Rhodes had told her those years ago. At the very least her initial attempt can count, her reaction to Rhodes saying how her life would just be running indicates she didn't really think ahead of what freeing herself would do.

And the Rage Breaking Point page does mention how the Anger would already be there, just that they would be holding it back til something happned to finally make them snap. I think that can fit, Cinder did genuinely try to hold back and Endure it til she turned 17 for years, but whatever the hell happned after they Found the sword finally pushed the Limit.

Except that I don't think she was even angry at them for finding the sword. It's just that, since they found the sword, she knew this phase of her life was over, and she closed it the way she'd probably always intended to.

Ya know, I could actually see this happen if Ironwood gets delusional enough to think he's the only hope humanity has left and that his survival is what's most important.

So...anyone want to talk about DC doing a crossover between RWBY and the Justice League? Because that’s going to be a thing.

It seems they are doing a 'AU versions of these Charachters exist in Remnant' thing instead of a 'This universe meets the other' thing

...I swear to god, I had that exact idea a long time ago

I wonder what they are going to do with Wonder Woman. It seems she's still some sort of Supernatual or 'Outsider' thing...Are they going to Reveal something like the Amazon's exist created by the god of light? Maybe she'll be someone from Salem and Ozmas world who was brought to the Modern world somehow?

[up] Seem to be the former. As the solicits doens't seem to imply a direct multiversal travel.

It also states the teams would be the sisters and Superman, Blake and Wonder Woman, and Weiss and Batman (the latter is more implied by omission.

The big question is if it would be set before the Fall of Beacon. And if the Ramnant versions of the Trinity would have Adaptational Name Change do go with the Color/fairytale Theme Naming.

Also I'd think they're prolly gonna go for a "secluded island" thing, more relatively mundane (compared to "secluded island populated by demi-demigods") and possibly a Fantasy Counterpart Culture of a piece of Greece

I thought when I heard of it they'd go the "Remnant is somewhere out in space" route, like that gag on RvB.

Sense the Team seems separated and Blake is in Menageire, So I think this is in the post Volume 3 realm. That's where the comics prior went

@Rebel

Not a JL Fan?

And while the crossover itself isn't the weirdest Crossover idea, the whole thing about how its Alternate versions of the dc heroes in Remnant is really funny to me for a Number of reasons.

For one it, by Proxy, implies that RWBY is part of the DC Multiverse now

And secondly, if it's canon, then we can have loads of Jokes and memes about it.

For example bringing up how Yang and Ruby are Superman's Neighbors, confusing the hell out of anyone who dosent know the Context

Not sure how I feel about these RWBY-ified designs for the Justice League, especially Wonder Woman's. Seems a bit a too....sinister, very Cinder-esque.

Still, it's being written by Marguerite Bennett and I've always liked her stuff, so we'll see how it goes.

It seems like a silly advertising kind of thing, but it could be fun. I'm definitely not going to take it seriously in the slightest, but I'm curious how they would adapt some of those Justice League folks.

https://www.gamesradar.com/rooster-teeth-hit-rwby-crossing-over-with-the-justice-league/

So from the designs, I'm getting that:

  • Batman and Aquaman are Faunus.
  • Cyborg definitely has Atlas tech going there.
  • The Flash having a turtle-shell backpack is adorable. (But also nodding towards Tortoise and the Hare?)

It does seem odd to put the Justice League in a setting where almost everyone has superpowers. It'd be like an X-Men AU where everyone were a mutant. (...I know there are future timelines in canon where that's the case, but those futures don't have the X-Men.)

[up]Metahumans are a thing in DC too though. Among all other sorts of comic book wakyness. Talking Gorillas aren't even the craziest part of DC Comics.

Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?

[up] Sure - I remember a Superman comic where Superman is thought to be dead, and Lois sees someone flying beside her plane, and chides herself for thinking someone might be him just because they can fly. Madame's understated reaction to seeing Cinder's Semblance wouldn't be that out of place in the DCU. But the point is that they're still a small fraction, whereas in RWBY it's almost everyone with combat training and a fair number of people without.

@Snoke Opposite actually. I like DC comics, but I'm not looking forward to the comics bending over backwards to justify the DC characters not solving the plot in five minutes. The setting of Remnant is pretty much an average weekday for the DC universe with how often they have Crisis level events.

[up]To be fair, these seem to be Remnant versions of the JL, so they'll likely be less powerful.

IF they were Comic Level, Superman would just toss the whale and Salem into space.

Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?
