Hmm, the only Tarot card I could find tied to Benevolence is the Six of Pentacles. Which....I guess the Reverse could suit Cinder?

Id say leave the bumblebee stuff because it has been Confirmed that there was stuff meant to tease them. So trying to seperate what was and wasn't intended would be a goddamn nightmare.

Well, that's why I wrote the Bumblebee paragraph the way I did. It's impossible for us to tell which bits are Ship Tease and Ho Yay, we only know that there's a mixture (because that's what the creators have told us).

However, regardless of whether or not shippers will be upset, the ShipTease.RWBY page is rampant misuse of the Ship Tease trope and it needs to be corrected (it's actually also misuse of the Ho Yay trope; had it stayed on the Ho Yay page, it would have ended up in a formal clean-up process anyway).

If you think it'll upset shippers too much, I'm fine with going back to the ATT thread and asking there if I can just make the change as per the ATT thread I originally raised. It provides a clean link to use for an edit reason if done that way.

So he could have left instructions involving providing an escort to Atlas for a young man carrying Long Memory and providing a specific code to identify himself.

Well, we do know that Oz left the headmasters with instructions on what to do should anything happen to him, leaving him in a time of reincarnation. We know Leo disobeyed them, although we don't know what those instructions were.

We don't know what Ironwood's instructions were either, so we don't know if he's ignoring them or started following them then changed his mind, or something else.

I No longer think Cinder is Salem and Ozpins sole surviving daughter, I do however have some sort of theory that she's the daughter of an Oz incarnation perhaps the king of vale given Mordered is one of the most iconic examples of the Antagonistic Offspring

No. Just no. As I've said many times in the past, Cinder being an Ozpring is my worst case scenario. I loathe Wicked and anything to do with Wicked. I do think there's a possibility of it because the show has quite a few Wicked influences in it. If Cinder turns out to be the daughter Ozpin never knew he had, I won't be able to stomach it.

I say Ozpin specifically because she cannot be the daughter of any other Oz incarnation. She could be a descendent of a different Oz incarnation, but that would be racking up quite a list of possible descendents for Oz: Maria and Ruby are almost certainly descended from one Oz incarnation (the inventor), then there's the theory that Jaune is descended from the King of Vale.

Maria, Ruby and Jaune I have no problems with. Cinder, I have a huge problem with. I don't believe it's likely she'd be a descendent of Salem's, however.

Then add together Cinder's entitlement issues, her desire to "Strong, Feared, Powerful", her hatred of Atlas, her lack of backstory being delivered even in her cover identity's home of Mistral, and it would suddenly make sense. wild mass guessCinder's the descendant of Vacuan Royalty, and she wants what that would have given her, being feared, worshiped, and strength, back after it was lost due to the Great War. Lost because of the Warrior King, aka Ozpin

I like this theory. Cinder being a descendent of other royalty, and not one of Oz's incarnations, I'd be much happier with. I'm more on board with the idea of her descending from Vacuan royalty than (for example) Mistralian royalty because, as I said after I finished reading After the Fall, Cinder's Semblance makes perfect sense for a Vacuan setting.

Her somehow being The Ageless would explain her Younger Than They Look-Ness Wich was previously explained with "Asian".

New theory....

Wyverns are so special and rare because they aren't natural Grimm. They're humans who Salem gave the ability to turn into Grimm with her magic, and that's why Cinder could talk to one of them.

She's young enough to become a Maiden, and to pass for a student. The creators said the cap for a Maiden is approximately 30 years old. My guess is that Cinder is mid-20s, and Winter is probably around the same age, making them approximately 5 years older than the main cast (excluding Ruby).

I think the reason Cinder could communicate with it is because of the parasite Grimm she was merged with.

I guess it depends on how scattered they are, since there's so many siblings. We got to meet the Cotta-Arc family, but really Jaune's sisters are probably all over the world doing their own things.

Jun 29th 2020 at 12:55:55 AM

Saphron seems to imply that most of them are near the family house, in... Mistral? And Jaune being (probably) the third of eight, it's likely some of them haven't left home.

My posts make considerably more sense read in the voice of John Ratzenberger.

That sounds exactly like Cinder. OTOH I also just read that The Emperor tarot card can be associated with benevolence when reversed...

The emperor tarot card, when reversed, can either be a sign of benevolence and compassion in a positive context (a person gifted with authority deliberately yielding some to do some good or make a moral choice) or conversely to highlight potential trouble brewing due to excessive use of authority in a reckless way (systematic obstruction to any project, immature use of power without any regard to the consequences).

The negative reading of the reversed Emperor also could fit Cinder. She's power hungry, resents those who have power over her, tends to be a Spanner in the Works towards both sides of the war, and when given the power she craves immediately lets it go to her head.

I guess it depends on how scattered they are, since there's so many siblings. We got to meet the Cotta-Arc family, but really Jaune's sisters are probably all over the world doing their own things.

What interested me was Saphron's comment that she and Jaune are the only siblings that have flown the nest. The family photograph suggests that they're among the younger siblings, with Jaune being one of the youngest (if not the youngest).

I've had the impression ever since Jaune and Pyrrha's talk in Volume 3 that Jaune may come from a smothering background. The way he talks about feeling as though his parents had no faith in him, that they expected him to fail and come back home, made me think that perhaps he has the opposite problem to Weiss — parents that love them too much, and can't let go enough to allow them to find their own way in life.

Pyrrha seemed to be about to say that Jaune was probably wrong about them having no faith in him, and I suspect that is the case — they just couldn't let go without a push.

That's why I took note of Saphron's comment. While it doesn't confirm my theory, it does make me think that there might be something in it if none of their other siblings have flown the next, including the siblings that are all older than Jaune (which seems to be almost all of them, if the photograph is anything to go by).

Either way, Saphron's comment suggests they're not scattered at all, since she and Jaune are the only ones who have left home. We just don't know where on Remnant they're from. She lives in Argus, the family holidayed several times in the Shion region, so that indicates a strong Mistral connection — but he also had never heard of Pyrrha, who was Mistral's home-grown hero. Although my gut tells me that he comes from Vale, him being smothered may explain why he has so little knowledge of the Huntsman world, including famous rising stars like Pyrrha, so it hardly rules out him being Mistralian.

We also don't know how he got his hands on forged transcripts and who helped him forge them. Given that his parents told him he would be welcome back should he fail at Beacon, they must have been involved in the forgery in some fashion. I still believe Ozpin was involved, too. (At the very least, he knew about it.)

I wonder what they'd think of him going up against a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and dragon wings for flippers?

I told someone about my theory that Jaunes ancestor was a Mistralian

They replied with by saying they had a Simmular idea, adding on...

"Especially since I kinda think that Jaune is currently holding a replica Crocea Mors

And the real one might be the Sword of Destruction

the man who ended up buried with Crocea Mors was not the man who brought it to battle, Julius Caesar, but instead Prince Nennius, who took it out his shield one Caesar embedded it there, and wielded it against the Romans."

Jun 29th 2020 at 5:34:55 PM

I've heard a similar theory before to the fake sword idea, but not in any detail (so I didn't know where it came from). While I do like it, and think it makes a certain amount of symbolic sense, one thing I have noticed is that the Beacon statue has two figures (one looks Faunus). The male figure is wearing a breastplate similar to Jaune's original one and is wielding a sword similar to his. Given that, and the way Jaune is gazing up at it in the Volume 1 opening credits, I do tend to wonder if that is a statue of his ancestor, given that his weapon and shield is a hand-me-down.

That said, it's nice to see theories built on non-Arthurian references just as a reminder that, while an Arthurian sword-in-the-stone angle is an obvious one for us to explore, it's not the only one.

As an aside, one thing that would amuse me would be if the Sword of Destruction in the Chamber is a fake and Jaune's actually been wielding the real Relic all along. Especially with everyone theorising about Ozpin's cane being a Relic until he jossed it in V5, it would be a funny bait-and-switch to learn the fandom had the right idea, but the wrong character.

Yes, yes, I know all the problems with this theory (including the Grimm-attraction one), I'm going there anyway.

That's quite the point. I never understood the people insisting Adam's character was ruined/derailed, when his first major act in the series was to chop off Yang's arm after telling Blake he was going to destroy everything she cared about.

Then again, people tend to get very attached to their theories and headcanons especially in this era when the creators are so accessible on social media. And I get people being disappointed that things they wanted to see (ie: An encounter with Weiss).

Just not the "they ruined Monty's vision!!1!" stuff. That's always creeped me out, seeing random internet people claiming to know a late creator more than his actual friends and co-workers.

ETA: Scrolling through that tumblr, a good point is made about how the White Fang storyline could have benefited from introducing Sienna earlier and not killing her off immediately. The Adam short does give us a sense of how things shifted in the group over time, as Ghira left and Sienna took power. And also how Adam slowly became more openly violent, with Sienna initially praising him as a hero and unintentionally feeding his ego.

[up][up][up][up]As fan of Adam I can tell why:

First of all is the conflict: the idea of white fang being slowly driving by extremist is present at the same time with Adam, which it kinda cut when it show Adam is a dick who just become worst.

Also is how blake present Adam and what we see in the black trailer: there Adam at worst sound cold, uncaring and terrorist, when blake went away he didnt pursuit it and he was force to join by Cinder, it wasnt a long strech to see him as extemist rathern that the incel he was, specially since Blake never relate their relationship as that close in any way.

there is also the fact blake and adam as a contras to Ozpin and Salem: a inocent person who saw thir parner becoming more violent and ruthless, but while Salem gain empathy and being very threating and colected to the point of strinking fear fear in Ironwood and making ruby cry with a couple of world, Adam get reduce to "BLAKE you HURT ME!", that this guy become the main villian in the white fang storyline drag the whole thing down.

Finally there is also that issue people and the show kept ignoring: his face, Adam is so far the guy who suffer the worst, probably strip from his parent, being a slave and being BRAND ON HIS FACE for....you know, not being a slave, meanwhile Blake get to be best friends with the heiress of the company that BRAND HIS FACE, said woman still want to be heiress of the company mind you.

So....yeah, there maybe be a good couple of reason, in part because the show kinda try to doge Adam backstory right until he dies, hell the song nevermore a least talk about it.

Weiss whole motivation is wanting to reform the SDC from the shit that did that to Adam

No offense...but, it kinda seems like you really dislike the protagonists sometimes.
