We never see Blake Chastise Adam for killing in Self defense. She began to Chastise him once the Excuse shifted to it being "Acidents" and the "Accidents" happening too often. If the Adam storyline was telling us any killing was bad with no exception Adam would still be alive.

It isn't "Violence is only good when the heroes do it" it's that Violence is only good in certain contexts.

Obligatory reminder that Weiss also lost her fight to that guy, because that's what Weiss does.

I think the only opponent she ever fought one and one and won was that Grimmboar thing at V1. Maybe the only reason she even won that fight is because she bribed it.

No way whatsoever. I just wanted to make a crack about Weiss.

Back when I very actively posted in this thread, I constantly made cracks at Blake and how much she utterly sucks at fighting. If I was a bit more persistent, I might've even started "Blake can't fight" meme.

And compared to Weiss, Blake actually has amazing track records.

Weiss does well against Grimm, at the very least. Of course, part of it is because making some Dust pew-pews is probably easier than to animate high-end fencing she used against Arma Gigas or WFL.

That CFVY novel came out, and we have Team Coffee's Semblances:

• Coco: her Semblance IS THE HYPE. It amplifies Dust. So that is why she was tearing through those Grimm like swiss cheese. Makes it a bit easier to believe that not every Dust gatling gun can do the same and that the Vale National Guard should be trying harder.
• Fox: telepathy, can track his classmates, he's basically Daredevil. Apparently his "Daredevil vision" isn't unique to him and might just be his One Stat to Rule Them All.
• Scarlet: Photographic memory, boosts her camera which is what does the actual "3D weaponprinting" we saw in Volume 3 while her Semblance allows for actual mimicry. This wasn't made explicitly clear in Volume 3.
• Yatsuhashi: it's a...memory wipe? Wow. Not what anyone was expecting. Seems like this wasn't demonstrated too well in Volume 3.

So, it seems like Team Coffee's semblances have a mind/psychology theme - with Coco's being a stretch depending on whether you think "hype" or "hyping someone/something up/amplifying something" fits that theme.

There is also a sexy, darker-skinned character named Carmine Escalado who the RWBY subreddit seems to be in love with - though amazingly enough I haven't found anyone cosplaying yet.

Memory wipe wasn't demonstrated in Volume 3, because it's not something Yatsuhashi is willing to use casually. His backstory aside, messing with people's minds for the sake of winning a tournament can hardly be considered heroic behavior.

You might be right but I wouldn't see it as villainous to use your natural abilities to win. Almost every other person we saw fight in that tournament surely did.

Got a Semblance that screws with your opponent's senses? Abuse the heck out of that. These students are training to fight monsters and criminals who won't care about Yatsuhashi's hang-ups. The tournament obviously isn't them fighting monsters and criminals... until later, anyway... but, still.

Apparently he uses it to take away a second or two from his opponent's in direct combat and Mercury still wrecked him. Either he got lucky that Yatsuhashi didn't feel pressured enough to use his Semblance, or he beat Yatsuhashi in spite of Yatsuhashi King Crimson'ing him.

Which is bad-ass.

Just as a general heads-up, the volume 6 soundtrack comes out on the 28th, this week.

On Team CFVY's Semblances... pity we saw almost none of that in the show, and most likely never will.

Since the soundtrack is being released, what are your favorite tracks from Volume 6? Same question, about your least favorite ones?

Not at all. Where likely to see them again when the story moves to Vacuo after Atlas.

Also the book clarifies some other teachers who work at Beacon and who Shade's headmaster is.

Like we were likely to see Team SSSN, or at least Neptune, during the Mistral Arc? I'm not expecting much. Or anything, for that matter.

Pre-soundtrack, I'm digging the opening, Indomitable, Miracle and One Thing. And I really dislike Nevermore and Lionized. And I forgot about Big Metal Shoe until I finished writing this, so that's my opinion on that song covered.

I'm waiting for a full version of "One Thing". It's probably the closest we'll get to a Neo backstory.

Favorite: Neo's. The visual effects used for them always tickle me.

Least favorite: Emerald's. It seems redundant given what Neo can do.

Hmm, I have some predictions: do you guys think that Taiyang and/or Raven will show up in Volume 7 or 8? Same question, about Qrow finding out that his sister is the Spring Maiden?

That scene in Volume 5 with tai and raven shows there atleast gonna show up eventually.

Well, Volume 2 Stinger ended being absolutely pointless beyond revealing that Raven and Yang are related to each other on account of same face, which could have very well been done in Volume 4 instead (which had Raven's first spoken appearance).

I do hope that there's at least some token attempt to show Taiyang trying to talk some sense into Raven rather than Raven unceremoniously showing up somewhere in the volume and going "I got better".

That's also what I'm hoping for.

I feel like this is a reference to something but I don't know what.

I don't expect to see much of Taiyang outside od flashbacks. He's a good character, but the series ignores him a lot already.

No wonder why people have been theorizing that Ruby's dad is actually Qrow: the latter spends far more time with her, gives her advice, and helps her out when she's in a tight place.
