I imagine Sun and Neptune were created primarily to stave off White Rose and Bumblebee, so that's probably a big reason the FNDM hated them so much.
I can't imagine things would have been well recieved had they gone through with that.
Honestly, this whole thing just reinforces why you shouldn't let the direction of your show be completely influenced by your fans.
But they made their bed, so I'd imagine we'll get an official Relationship Upgrade for Yang and Blake next volume.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Or, ya know, they don't do that and decide to do whatever the fuck they want.
Seriously, if the only reason they'd canonize Blake and Yang was to avoid a backlash, that's pretty sad. If they don't care for the backlash, and lets face it, they don't considering the other stuff they've pulled, they'll do whatever they want, and if that means going for Black Sun, Sunny Bees, or anything other than Bumblebee, they're gonna do it.
Let's stop trying to predict what they're gonna do, and let's stop assuming they're gonna do something. Cause unless some of us suddenly got hired by the CRWBY, we don't know, we have no influence over their decisions, and we're just wasting our time trying talking about it. Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment should go into effect, and we should drop the whole Bumblebee thing now, cause as we've seen, the topic is a major sore point in the FNDM.

Vegeta: I'm back bitches! Why? The only person having a negative reaction to...any of this is you.
There doing Blake x Yang given how much the writers, voice actors and RWBY media tease it.
I'm having a negative reaction to this because I see everyone claiming Bumblebee is canon or is gonna be canon, and it gets so very annoying. I had to suffer through the Starco wars in SVTFOE, and I'm tired of people claiming something is endgame when they have no say in whether it will be.
I'm just tired of shipping really. I used to have fun with it too but then people got all toxic about it and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth now. I'd much rather let the show play out and see how it goes rather than try and justify it with very minor Ship Tease that ignores the context of the scenes.

Vegeta: I'm back bitches!Seriously. After the backlash and queerbaiting accusations they got off Bmblb, and to a lesser extent Sun's screentime in volumes 4 & 5, I saw volume 6 and thought 'well, guess that's got to be confirmation due to how blatant it is and how horrible an idea it would be to be coy at this point'. If they don't canonize it, the fanbase will go nuts.
And if this big, dramatic moment isn't the turning point of their relationship, that's just kind of puzzling.
And yeah, there was never a love triangle as mentioned before. If that's what the writers intended then they really didn't set that up, focusing only on only on Sun as a potential love interest to begin with and never focusing on Sun and Yang at the same time.
Congratulations, you just figured out exactly why all of us don't really care for this series fandom for those exact reasons.
I'll just come out and say it, RWBY's fandom is horrible and is perhaps, one of the worst fanbases I've seen, due in no part due to how feverent the shipping corner of it tends to be about the series. So trust me, you're not alone in feeling that way.
The reason we're all saying BB is canon at all is because it's basically an inevitability at this point as Saiga pointed out above; after all of the teasing in the show itself and from the voice actors, not officializing it would cause one hell of a backlash against them. So basically, they put themselves in this situation.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Nobody questions the canonicity of Renora after the Volume 4 finale, and so they shouldn't question Bumblebee either. Both ships went through the same motions, except the latter had way more of everything in terms of teasing, build-up etc.
Frankly, there's no one else for neither Blake nor Yang to be shipped with at this point.
Incidentally, boy, does this thread have even a third of people enjoying the series as opposed to everyone else? It feels like it at times.

How do lizards fly?Ah shipping.
It ruins everything........ well not Naruto it already destroyed itself but the shipping-based death threats didn’t help.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Okay, Regarldess of one's thoughts on Bumblby, I dislike this whole idea of "Oh Well Sun exists so that's proof it wasn't intended" or "Blacksun was baited!"
Sun was a potential love interest, That fact dosent mean he was intended to end up with Blake, simply that it was a possibility, nor does it mean that Blake wasn't intended to end up with someone else.
Things are really about to get Fun around hereI didn't realize Renora was canon until after Volume 6 started. They don't seem any different then they did as friends. It was only when V6 showed Nora holding Ren that I wondered if they're a couple.
I'd prefer if they kept Bumblbee lowkey too. It's one of my notps so I'm really uninterested in seeing them get romantic. Yet, at the same time, I wish it was overtly canon. It comes off as Hide Your Lesbians if it doesn't; like how Nanofate is never seriously confirmed because Nanoha runs on No Hugging, No Kissing.
=NanoFate has pretty much been 99.999% canonized at this point though, what with them raising a kid, sleeping in the same bed, and living together.
"I'll show you fear, there is no hell, only darkness." My twitterRen and Nora don't really act any differently than they did before, so if they are a couple...they're kind of in the same boat of ambiguity. But the difference is that the creators never felt the need to comment on their relationship like they've done with Bumbleby, which only ignites the flames further.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.it's not just because Sun liked Blake. It's because his introduction and focus stick out as incredibly odd if he wasn't intended to be her love interest.
And it def was teased in the earlier seasons, with at least Blake blushing at him (can't remember off the top of my head if there was anything else).
Nah, there's a pretty big difference there - we already knew that Noranl loved Ren so the intention was much clearer. Even then, the lack of acknowledgement through volume 5 did make me wonder if they weren't going to be coy about it and not be a couple until volume 6 solidified it.
Edited by Saiga on Jun 9th 2019 at 7:25:32 PM
True, but they always just call them "friends". They raise a kid together and literally have official art where they're married, but the series doesn't outright say they're a couple.
I didn't think Ren and Nora's hand holding scene was a Relationship Upgrade. They held hands, so what? Didn't they hold hands before? I've never been big on the couple since Ren doesn't seem to like Nora back. Even now that they are apparently a couple, it still seems one-sided. They're good friends but a couple? I'm not feeling the romance.

Oh welp, there you go we're questioning the canonicity of Renora now.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Nora referred to Ren has her boyfriend in volume 6.
That's what I said. Up until V6, it wasn't clear. There was essentially an entire volume of vagueness.
...
Renora's canon?
A cruel, sick joke is still a joke, and sometimes all you can do is laugh.x6 Sad thing is, Renora just doesn't get exposure because, well, why would it? Neither Ren nor Nora are really crucial to the plot anymore (one could argue they were never important, even back when they had more exposure in Volumes 1-3). Them getting together together is just something that happens.
By comparison, Bumblebee is the shit that everyone keeps talking about, whether they want it, hate it, are indifferent about it etc.

How do lizards fly?Maybe RWBY just sucks at romance. It's still unclear what Jaune's feelings on Pyrrha are. Heck, I know a lot of fans still don't think Summer and Tai were a couple, even though their daughter is the literal protagonist of the series.
Most shows suck at romance either they go with to much ship tease for every ship or keep doing Will They or Won't They? for far to long.
@Pichu
That...says more about your friends then it does the show.
@Saiga
Again, Sun was a Potential love interest. That dosent mean he was Intended to end up with Blake, just that it was a possibility.

Things are really about to get Fun around hereWhat, friends holding hands?
Yeah, their relationship developed after Yang lost her arm for Blake.
