Unlikely although I'd say they can be trained. For instance, range, control, and endurance of Semblances can likely be improved.

On the topic of Semblance, I say Jaune's is force field. 'Tis the only reason Cardin flew off when he's about to punch him.

At this point I would say it's just enhanced abilities like healing and general raw energy. Kind of hard to judge at this pount.

It's the most likely for me, but yeah, let's just wait for Volume 2 to come.

Yeah, I think that Jaune's Semblance would start as a superpowerful forcefield, and then to an Attack Reflector.

He's going to be the freaking Jaunggernaut.

wild mass guessIf there is an upgrade form of Semblance, it will be called Apotheosis. Also, Jaune or Ruby will he the first one to achieve it, which is previously thought impossible . wild mass guess

Also, I think we will at one point see a character with Artificial Limbs.

Apotheosis basically means becoming a god, among other things of that nature.

I believe it means more of an apex, be it in ideals, trade, etc.

Wikidictionary:

  1. The fact or action of becoming or making into a god; deification.
  2. Glorification, exaltation; crediting someone or something with extraordinary power or status.
The turn of the century saw the apotheosis of digital technology.

I'm honestly surprised I was right. I mean, I knew that's how it's normally used, but I assumed it was more colloquial than literal.

And thus RBWY turns into Exalted, and we have Yang blowing up the moon with her fists, Weiss insulting someone so badly they explode, Ren stealing an entire city for reasons, and other gloriously OTT shenanigans.

This is a signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

I'd say characters could definitely strengthen their Semblances, but not really expand into entirely different powers. Like, Ruby could flash step more and could maybe do a Doppelgänger Spin (for those familiar with Bleach, think Ichigo's super speed vs Byakuya) or Blade Spam type attack, and Weiss could manipulate what her glyphs do and such. Of course, we're wondering how semblances can grow without knowing what a lot of them are specifically. We can make good estimates at some (Yang = Fire, Jaune = Healing/Force Fields/something similar, Blake = Illusions, maybe Flash Step?) but outside of the three we've seen, I can't really think of what others we know of. Still, these are all fairly interesting ideas.

Do you think the hunters are hiding the existence of aura? Jaune didn't even know what it was and none of Torchwick's guys use it, at least not on the level of using semblances. Maybe the hunters don't want people learning aura from just anyone.

While it seems like a military secret, the thugs DO use aura; hence why Torchwick's goons' brains weren't decorating the head of Crescent Rose in the first episode.

I think that was more of cartoon violence thing, the same way Penny's swords only knocked people down despite clearly skewering them.

I think it's a matter of anyone can use aura to protect themselves from damage (except for Jaune because loljaune), but using a semblance properly is something that requires training. Word of God did say that aura was included to justify the characters surviving crazy shit.

I can already see some holes in this reasoning, but this is what I'll go with for the time being.

[up] Given that Ruby wasn't hitting the mobsters with the blade of her scythe, I assume she was deliberately fighting non-lethally, and probably could've easily cut them to ribbons if she wasn't. Penny's fight with the white fang mooks is, in my interpretation, an example of Bloodless Carnage; we don't see any of the mooks hit by her blades get up, nor do we see them being taken into police custody after the fact, so I'm assuming she just killed them all.

Well every living thing has access to Aura, minus the Grimm. I think this makes even normal humans in the RWBYverse pretty hardcore. Its just that the weaponry and Grimm are THAT STRONG.

The reason why Jaune didn't use Aura in the episode is because certain things like using it in non-dangerous situations and healing require more focus. Whereas any one can use Aura to prevent life-threatening injuries from killing.

I want to know what RWBY's stance on killing other human beings is. Nobody has a problem slaying monsters, but people?
