Yeah I thought that was the stereotype too.

When I have enough time to waste to read the Guardian, they give the impression that's how we're regarded in Britain. Also, the bizarre fact that a whole bunch of US ultraconservative commie-fearing teens thought we're their dream country.
Depends if you take a narrow view of the present, or a broad view which includes historical genocides. But this is actually getting very off topic.
Also, that kind of relativism makes comparisons extremely pointless.

In answer to an earlier question, the One Nation candidate was charged with "contaminating or interfering with goods". She's also gone global.

I casted a donkey last federal election. I was pretty pissed off that day and didn't want to get out of the house. So I took revenge on the system by voting for the God-Emperor.
I'm probably going to go for Labour this time. My family were always Labour voters cos' of the ending of the White Australian policy and the visas for Chinese students under Labour. My family especially has fond memories of Hawake.
This time however, I they think they'll go for Labour due to their perceived image of small business supporters. I really don't want Abbot to win so I'll cast my vote to Ruddy.
For Glorious Sociopathy! Peace Through Firepower! My Halo/ Foz crossover fic http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7082058/1/Spartan_of_Zero^ Good man.
^^^ It was a hard choice for me between the sex party and family first last time. Ended up using the preference for a load of a minority parties. Some thing I regret now that we have hung parliament.
*Sigh*
I'll guess I'll vote for labour. I haven't been impressed with them of late but it's them or Tony Abbott.

I would vote for Family First if their Censorship and Abortion policies weren't so conservative (I am fond of their indigenous and refugee policies though). Australian Sex Party appeals to me as a Social Libertarian Hippie Girl that I am.
I would probably put my other preferences towards Labour and Greens due to the likeness of Rudd Labour making more moves towards Gay Marriage, and issue I'm passionate about.
I'm having to learn to pay the price^Same. I'm kind of torn on family first's commitment to civil values and ideals and my own tiresome attachment to civil liberties. The sex party is big on those no doubt but not much in social politics.
I would vote for the greens. But their policies feel just too idealist to be practical. Perhaps if they had a greater focus on social issues over the environment I would feel differently.

hashtagsarestupidMost of our minor parties are basically single-issue-wonk parties. The Greens are for environmentalists, the Sex Party promotes the sex industry's needs, the KAP is all about farmers, the Christian Democrats and Family First are about Christian morals, etc.
The Democrats were an exception which is why they might have become a big third party in the way the Greens probably can't, but they screwed up.

Well, the Greens are actually rather more socially focused now than before (think the asylum seekers, which is their whole platform since Gillard was PM). They can sound a bit idealistic but if you know people in there you'll find that they do have practical ideas: just Christine "we-will-break-from-Labor-but-still-vote-for-their-polices" Milnes isn't really getting that across.
They'll learn, or be sidelined forever.
Double post due to hilarity: Proof that Tony Abbott talks out of his arse.
On that subject, Abbott apparently thinks gay marriage is a "radical change based on the fashion of the moment".
I saw that episode of Insight that Penny Wong was on, I thought she gave a good account of her views.
@Ira
Yeah, I pretty much agree with you re the Greens.
I forgot about the LDP. Yeah, My vote's gonna be a toss up between them and the ASP (ASP is a bit of a Single-Issue Wonk. LDP has that Dergulation thing that I'm not too fond of, even if the rest of their policies are ace for me)

I'm having to learn to pay the priceThe LDP is preferencing Pauline Hanson.
As an aside, I wasn't saying it's inherently bad to be a single-issue-wonk party, it just means you'll probably never end up as the government. That's not an intrinsically bad thing.
