"Of course, Satsuki-sama."
#1: Mar 14th 2013 at 8:27:36 PM

The year is 2032. It's been ten years since the first Nephilim arrived. Without warning, without any identifiable reason, the earth came under attack by the immense alien life-form. It devastated Earth's defensive forces and brought immense destruction across the planet. Eventually, it came down to an experimental weapon developed by Doctor Kawaguchi Genji. Doctor Kawaguchi attacked the Nephilim with the weapon. He was successful in driving it off, but not before it took heavy damage and he perished in the fight. The weapon was a highly unique one: It ran on the principles of science, and was constructed with sophisticated technology. However, its methods of running and producing energy were unlike any that had ever been seen before. Only one word could describe the power that Doctor Kawaguchi had harnessed:

Magic.

The scientific community was in shock, but this wasn't the time for such things. Analysis of the attack indicated that this would not be the only Nephilim attack. An estimation of the time it would take for another attack to occur was released: Ten years. In ten years, the Nephilim would return, and it seemed to all that there would be no way to combat it. Worse still, it was speculated that this wouldn't be the only Nephilim.

It seemed like things were as bad as they possibly could be, until Doctor Kawaguchi's daughter, Kawaguchi Sumiko, stepped forward. She declared that she would take Doctor Kawaguchi's damaged weapon and his research, and prepare it for the future.

Ten years later, and the Nephilim are about to attack once more. But that's not the only thing that's gone as predicted.

Kawaguchi Sumiko's work is finished at last.

Kawaguchi Sumiko's work received extensive government funding. The organization SEED was formed in order to facilitate her research and study methods to combat the Nephilim. The largest SEED base is in Tokyo, Japan, as that is where Sumiko lives and works. SEED has been preparing since its formation in 2023 for the return of the Nephilim. It has extensive anti-Nephilim measures, based off of data received after the first Nephilim attack. SEED's technology features small mecha and a variety of advanced weaponry. However, SEED's real hope has always laid on Doctor Kawaguchi's weapon.

However, SEED has been tracking another possible threat. For the entirety of the wreckage of the weapon was never recovered...

Meanwhile...

For ten years, they've worked. They've forged their own path to fight the Nephilim. They've rejected SEED and chosen their own course of action.

And now, they're ready.

So, this RP is about magitech magical girls fighting monsters! Here are some rules to begin with.

  • Magical Girls working with SEED must be female, for reasons that will be revealed in the RP. In addition, they must be aged from ten to eighteen, no younger or older. Reasons for this will be revealed in the RP as well.
  • Magical Girls will start the RP without knowledge of their abilities.
  • While magical girls are the focus, players can play as SEED operatives. At the same time, I would like magical girls to be first character choice, so to speak. In addition, SEED operatives will not be effective against Nephilim.
  • There will be a magitech-using human villain group introduced into the RP. However, signups for them will be under much heavier scrutiny.
  • Nephilim are not a playable character group, they will be handled by me. They are also very weird. For an example, think Angels from Neon Genesis Evangelion.
  • While the premise is serious, this RP is not intended to be dark and can be light-hearted and humorous at times. Keep this in mind with signups.
  • Realism is not a major concern of this RP at all.

Since different G Ms have different concepts of Overpowered, what would it be for here? Can the Villain group have Magitech males, and why do I think the Female-only part is going to involve breeding? It would make sense to use Females for that, since they'll be carrying the child it'll be constantly affected by them. Since the Villain group made their own, what differences are there in the Magitech designs compared to SEED?

[up][up]Glad to have you!

[up]Hmm... it's hard to define overpowered in basic terms, it's more of a "you'll know it when you see it". Basically, um, I'll tell you if your abilities are overpowered. What I can say is try not to go too broad with with your abilities. And... um, that's definitely not the purpose, actually. There can be magitech males for the villain group.

As for differences from SEED, they run on the same basic principles.

I can see them managing to steal/copy some Research notes, but since they're a opposing faction and recovered different parts of the weapon shouldn't there be notable differences? Then again, do they create the Magitech beings or was that a side-effect from the battle?

Either way, how would metal-related abilities be? Are the Villain group actual villains or do they just want to show-up SEED by any means?

Well, appearance differences yes, but the magitech itself runs on the same kind of power and principles.

Metal-related abilities could work, depending on how they're handled. The villain group is very definitely villains, though the full reasons behind why they're villains and not just an opposing faction with the same goal are for later, in the RP itself.

How much of the setting and characters have you fleshed out? Would the Villain's Magitech soldiers already know about their powers, and comparing to SEED what's the ratio for Magitech soldiers?

I have a fairly solid setting in mind, but characters are pretty open at the moment. The magitech villains are much lesser in number then SEED, and are already aware of their abilities.

How many players/characters are you aiming for? How do you decide Nephilim battles and characterization? Finally, are players restricted to using only one character?

I'm interested, very much so actually. But I'll hold off on making a character until I see some of the previously mentioned questions answered, and I see what other people are doing.

I guess one question I have to ask is, are the characters limited to being Japanese, or can they be from any nationality?

Actually, bringing that back up... [Magical Girls working with SEED must be female, for reasons that will be revealed in the RP. In addition, they must be aged from ten to eighteen, no younger or older.]

Its a no on the next-generation bit. Its been ten years since that attack, so the youngest a Magitech girl can be is... Ten. There's certainly something fishy going on, or it could of be the weapon's "Magic" effects was a bit of reality-warping and wishing. Since it was likely he was going to leave his daughter behind, the fact they're mainly girls was probably a reflection of his desire for his daughter to be safe. Then again I think it already been answered about the Magitech thing being created and not a random mass empowering event... So I have no clue on what this could be implying then.

Besides that, in general what powers are banned on terms of Too Powerful and/or Too Magical? Cause I doubt anyone is going to have major body-altering powers and Telepathy is... Well, Telepathy.

Magical girl powers are quite open, though I mostly have in mind more... energy-based abilities. Basically, something like shapeshifting wouldn't work for this.

I don't have a specific character count in mind at the moment. The Nephilim, um... "characterization" isn't much of an issue for them and you'll see why we we get to the first one. Players can use multiple characters, but don't take too many.

Characters may be any nationality, though it makes sense for a majority to be Japanese given the location the RP takes place in.

Hmm... if I had to pick specific things to mention as far as banning, I'd pick anything to do with mind control. As for stuff that just... won't work with how the powers work, shapeshifting is a fairly major one. It simply doesn't fit as far as magitech goes. I'm considering getting my own signup posted to give people a good idea of what I'm expecting from the powers section, eh-heh. I probably should've mentioned I'm expecting flight from all of them, at least.

Also, I'd really, really like if that whole breeding thing was completely forgotten and left behind entirely. It's... um... yeah.

@Troyand Hawk: You can play as a villain, but... that villain's not going to work. To put it simply, the villain organization is not with the Nephilim. And that power's... a good example of something too weak, honestly.

  • Name: Tanaka Asami
  • Age: 16
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: "Oh... let me get my camera!"
  • Personality: Asami is a pleasant and friendly girl. She enjoys meeting people and generally likes company. However, she gets lonely easily. She likes cherries and anything made with cherries, as well. One thing Asami dislikes is the notion of giving up, something she will staunchly refuse to do regardless of the circumstances. Asami has a deep love of photography, bringing a camera with her wherever she goes so that she can take pictures. Asami takes pictures of locations, food, people, anything she takes a liking to will get a picture taken of it. Asami believes that taking a picture is like taking the event and freezing it, so that it may be relived forever as long as there's a picture.
  • Brief Backstory: Asami was born to a fairly normal family, and led a normal life up until the Nephilim attack. Her original home and much of her neighborhood was destroyed, now existing only in pictures. Aside from such events, Asami has grown up fairly normally.
  • Abilities: Asami has a good eye for photographs and is a decent sprinter. Otherwise, she's not particularly athletic and doesn't have many noteworthy skills.
  • Powers: When using the magitech system, Asami gains the ability to fly as all other magitech-users have. She has the basic added durability granted by the system. Asami is also capable of generating and firing small blue magical energy projectiles as well. However, the main focus of her abilities is her weapon.
  • Weapon(s): Asami's magitech weapon is "Collision Reaper". A black rod of metal as long as Asami is tall in its base form, Collision Reaper projects a blue energy scythe blade that extends to be half the length of the handle. Collision Reaper can generate a wave of the projectiles Asami is capable of forming and fire them with a swing of the weapon. In addition, Collision Reaper is extensible, both the blade and the handle are capable of growing to immense sizes.

Would Magnetism be allowed, and are there any set age limits for the Villain Magitech soldiers? I just realized its strange only ten-to-eighteen years old can be Magitech girls while the Villains don't have such limitations. I've hang around a bunch of psychos, some I'm really sorry for jumping to the conclusion in a public area. In hindsight that should of been asked via PM.

Oh, and for a Magitech Villain and/or Girl can their Powers be focused around creating weapons and other things? Then again, I doubt creating a gun from thin air would work so could they summon these weapons?

Powers relating to magnetism would be fine. Villains do not have age limits. All weapons are summoned during the transformation.

  • Name: "Pali" Naosu
  • Age: 18
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: Generally wears serious, formal attire, such as pencil skirts, leggings, button-up blouses, etc. Blonde hair, usually well combed and above shoulder-length. Studious green eyes - a lively color for a usually dull or contemplative stare. Particularly tall for her age. Carries around a navy cap her father used to wear, and occasionally dons it.
  • Personality: Quiet, but very concerned for her friends and allies. Much of her hesitant nature is due to making sure she doesn't need to stop to help others before acting on her own accord. Seemingly hides a lot of her talent, as if striving for average scores and grades. Feels very embarrassed about her first name and insists people call her "Pali."
  • Brief Backstory: Pali's father served in the naval defense against the Nephilim attack. While he managed to survive where many didn't, he was left seriously injured and requires the care of his wife. This left a decent mark on Pali, and grew into a nature where she would rather serve and comfort than take the lead.
  • Abilities: Average across the board, though as earlier mentioned, is likely due to herself holding back. She's surprisingly sturdy and healthy. Decent reactionary skills, though delays herself to allow others to go first.
  • Powers: Her mobility all around is slower due to her extremely thick and bulky armor, but is able to absorb much more damage than others and even deflect incoming attacks if able to predict them accurately. Her primary magical feat is providing waves of healing energy, supporting her allies in combat and keeping them in the fight, or ensuring their livelihood if downed. She's also capable of providing other minor "buffs" to allies.
  • Weapons: Her fullplate armor (named "Vessel") could possibly be considered a weapon in itself, but more conventionally, she dual wields large warhammers (collectively named "Holy Impact") that hold enough power to force away imposing foes. One hammer at a time can be thrown much like a boomerang, arcing around back to her hand, which gives her a few more options in combat. If crossed, the hammers act with her armor to create a shield around her front, which is typically large enough to block attacks against her and her allies.

G-Good? Maybe?

Are there any requirements we need to cover if we want to play as a Villain, and how many will you allow? By the way, could a Magitech soldier manipulate water? If so, would you allow them to condense and manipulate water vapor? Also, if we have a Magitech character with multiple personalities would that have any effect? I was thinking of making a Magitech girl whose personality becomes altered when she enters the state.

There's no villain number limit. Water vapor seems like an okay power though I'd judge it more carefully when it's written up. There's no personality alteration from using the system.

Question, could one of the Girls weaponize Sub-Woofers and music?
