"We Don't Talk About Bruno", an ensemble number from Disney's latest animated musical Encanto, replaces Adele's "Easy on Me" at #1 on the Hot 100. This makes it the second Disney song to go to #1 after Aladdin's "A Whole New World", but the first time where the original version goes to #1 rather than an end-credits pop version.

Additionally, this gives all the voice actors credited on the song (Carolina Gaitán, Mauro Castillo, Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz, Diane Guerrero, and Stephanie Beatriz) their first #1, and given how many are credited in the song, it also surpasses DJ Khaled's "I'm the One" from 2017 as the #1 song with the most credits.

While we're on the subject of credits, it's worth mentioning that Lin-Manuel Miranda, who is the sole credited songwriter for "Bruno" and all the other songs in Encanto, now has his first songwriting #1. In addition, this also makes it one of the 14 #1 songs from 2000 onwards with only one credited songwriter.

Well, that's interesting. I do love We Don't Talk About Bruno but I never would have thought it would top the charts.

I wish I liked Encanto as much as everyone else. I thought it was really good but I don't see it as the amazing revelation that people say it is. However, as a Frozen apologist, I am totally fine with being happy for everyone else.

Same. While I do think Encanto is easily the best movie Disney Animation Studios has produced in over half a decade, I'm not quite as enamored with it as many others seem to be. I honestly wish I was.

But still, I'm happy such a non-pop musical number managed to break through.

The bigger story, however, comes with Bad Bunny, who released his fourth solo studio album Un Verano Sin Ti the same day as Harlow's. Aside from that, Lizzo also enters the top 10 at #9 with "About Damn Time" thanks to its virality on TikTok. It becomes her fourth top 10 hit.

On one hand, Kendrick Lamar is my favorite rapper and (despite this being my least favorite album from him) songs like Die Hard, United In Grief, N95, and Father Time are some of his best work. Totally worthy of being hits.

On the other hand, fuck Kodak Black and I’m so angry at Kendrick for giving him a top 10 hit.
