Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.
That’s coverage, yes TB was super sensitive about journalists providing proper disclosure of any bias, I have no problem with that and think that with him gone we’ve lost one of the big checks on bias in gaming media coverage.
It was illustrative of a problem he was hyper focused on for years, the issue of games journalists and games devs being close and games journalists not properly disclosing that fact. He in no way legitimised the hate mobs, he spoke out against a person they didn’t target, that’s not how legitimising something works.
Also I’d note that we’ve gone from TB aparently sending hate mobs after people to him making a bad judgment call that someone magically gave hate mobs legitimacy, if you misunderstood the situation due to having incorrect facts that’s fine, but right now it’s coming across like you’re just grasping for any excuse to dislike the actions of a dead man.
X4 I’d like people to stop trying to use a banned topic to shit on someone, until they do I’m gonna continue to refute this bullshit.

"And the Bunny nails it!" ~ Gabrael "If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we." ~ CyranY'all, drop it. This is bringing up a banned topic.
No, both of y'all drop it.

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Guys lets just leave this alone before this subsumes the whole thread. John is dead, lets let the man rest.
I'd recommend one other youtuber that started out like TB but went in a slightly different direction. This is akamikeb, or wowfony. He was featured on the old podcast with TB, Press Heart To Continue, and Jesse Cox at one point. He like TB started out in Wo W but extended his videos everywhere and had a somewhat similar format to his videos. He's a pretty chill dude and it's kinda sad to see that he doesn't make as much varied videos as he used to but the dude also has a family now so I can see why he stopped making some series.
I am surprised he doesn't get more attention.
Edit: He also was one of the youtubers that payed tribute to TB and Genna on his twitter page. Interesting to note that he is complimenting Genna more for her work in this comment.

There's a bit about TB after the credits.
I only managed to hear the news via Noble's (Lost Pause) Twitter a couple of days ago and later verified it via various YouTubers (and their own Twitter accounts) as well as gaming news sites. It's been days since TotalBiscuit's passing, yet it still feels so sudden. And at the age of 33, which is uncomfortably close to my own age range.
Granted, he had his shortcomings (and I haven't watched his videos in a while—now I'll be watching the newest ones knowing those are the last ones he made), but there's no doubt that he was passionate about the video game industry, the e-sports scene, and his pro-gamer consumer rights advocacy—especially against broken, buggy, incomplete games rushed into release and against the ever-contentious monetization schemes of unscrupulous video game publishers.
Rest in peace, TotalBiscuit. May the Emperor's light guide you safely to the other side.
"Learn as if you will live forever, live as if you will die tomorrow."Have we seen Jesse and Dodger's reactions yet to his passing? They were some of his longest friends
Both have posted things on their twitter pages. Dodger has talked about TB's passing in her saturday livestream, aptly named "Saturday Morning Dooger". I don't think Jesse has spoken in-video about it yet.
I would expect Jesse to be pretty upset about it. They always poked fun at each other but you could tell they actually cared about each other in those old videos they would do in the past or in the podcasts.
I always knew on some level that TB might die before he reached old age. I guess I didn't expect him to die so early and in such pain.

:(
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Jesse has also added a long text to his twitter prior to the podcast today, talking about TB's passing.
The podcast vod is out.
Coz no one posted it, Genna, TB's widow, continued his tradition, the E3 Presentation Snarkathons

I actually watched some of those. To be honest, I think Genna doesn't carry these on her own as well she did with John. They had good synergy, and on her own, she gets a bit too carried away on her own tangents. Which is a pity, honestly, because I was really hoping I'd like her working solo. Still, I am glad she's continued the tradition. Hopefully this will carry on.

The videos are much too long for me to sit through but I like that she is doing them anyway.

"This gonna sound morbid, but I am so glad my husband is not here to see this. It would destroy him to see C&C go this way... (*title reveal*) Noo... Noo..."
That being said, thank you "Mrs. Biscuit" for that much-needed commentary, and hope you're doing well.
"Learn as if you will live forever, live as if you will die tomorrow."ChronoGG (who had partnered with him for promotion deals) is doing a special charity sale in TB's memory, with 100% of their proceeds going to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)And Starcraft 2 have announced they'll be releasing a limited TB cosmetics pack in the near future, with all the proceeds going to his wife and kid.
"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."That's good. TB being a major Blizzard fan and all.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Reviving this thread for one final tribute, courtesy of the newly released Doom Eternal.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)That's a really cool homage.
In a much less pleasant necro, his wife is considering removing all of his content from the internet due to people trying to use his voice and likeness for AI purposes.
If there's something of his you want to preserve, you may want to act.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)
While I don't disagree with what you are arguing here that maybe he should of not gotten involved the people in those hate mobs look for any reason they can to legitimize there shitty behavior in some way. Even if he didn't get involved I doubt that they wouldn't of found there own reasons to try to legitimize their hate.
Yeah we might want to drop this. This discussion might get ugly and it's not paying any proper respect to John's death anyway as people generally use the topics here as an excuse to dance on his grave.
