If it's going to be set during the OT like the other spinoff movies, I'd definitely want a (albeit, probably very loose) adaptation of the Enemy Of The Empire miniseries. Simple enough plot that doesn't hinge too much on the baggage associated with Boba's past and heritage, plenty of grit and Black Comedy, and probably the biggest draw: Boba Fett and Darth Vader fighting on the big screen.

[down]That didn't stop them from making Solo, or will stop them from making the Obi-Wan movie. I'd love for the movie to be set post ROTJ myself, but I have a gut feeling they'll just set it during the OT era.

That’s not going to work, because we know Boba Fett will survive until Rot J.

Unless it’s an Inglorious Bastards-style alt-hist.

I'm curious if Solo's reception will impact this film at all.

Personally, I'd make this film a massive Genre Throwback to Spaghetti westerns, particularly the Leone-Corbucci ones with plenty of characters from the EU and set somewhere during the Dark Times between the PT and the OT.

Here's what I'd do:

'Have the first film be a A Fistful of Dollars or Django style story, where mysterious gunslinger (Boba) wanders into a town of conflict between two factions (two warring Hutts would be my suggestion) and playing them both for chumps. You could add a slice and touch of For a Few Dollars More by giving Boba a bounty hunting sidekick with a personal stake in the conflict (Sugi from the Clone Wars would be my suggestion) against a cruel bounty hunter working for one of the Hutts (Canon Immigrant Kleef). Cad Bane and Hondo Ohnaka show up in supporting roles, setting up their role for the sequel and we establish Boba's cordial relationship with Hondo but odious relationship with Bane.

Have the film end on something akin to this except with Kleef in place of El Índio, Sugi in place of Colonel Mortimer and Boba as Blondie/Man With No Name:

Sequel could be The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (i.e three ruthless guys working together/against each other for a big score), incorporate some Sartana with the riches and powerplays and Xanatos Speed Chess. With Boba as the Good, Cad Bane as The Bad and Hondo Ohnaka as the ugly. Incorporate elements from the cancelled 1311 star wars game in the political conspiracies in the bowels of Coruscant. Difference is all three survive the film in the end, though Boba ends up on the upper hand.

Who wouldn't wanna see the star wars equivalent of this to introduce Boba, Cad and Hondo.

Finally, I'd round up Boba's life with a take on Once Upon a Time in the West (so in essence, gunslingers duke it out in the Twilight of the Old West as civilization swallows them whole). Set between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, I'd have the story be set back on some backwater planet that is slowly being civilized and the theme of the end of the lawless days of the Empire looming over. Boba is on said planet to finish some personal business (that is, Cad Bane) before wrapping up the whole Han Solo business. Cad Bane (who is doing One Last Job so he can retire) is the ruthless gunslinger working for a Grand Moff trying to bring order to the planet, while Sugi comes back having sided with the Rebellion to save the planet. Hondo is the Cheyenne equivalent as the Lovable Rogue trickster bandit slowly fading into the distance.

I view it ending with Cad Bane and Boba having one last duel (which results in Cad Bane's death), but not before sharing a dialogue reminiscing about their lives as bounty hunters and how that time is coming to an end with the rise of the New Republic allá Harmonica and Frank:

Cad and Hondo are dead by the end, and Sugi lives on (retired) in peace as part of the Rebellion. Of course, this film would become even more grim considering Boba dies shortly after in Return (and I'd keep him dead) but that'd suit the themes very well.

I've had an idea that revolves around a group of clones trying to extend their lifespans kind of like Blade Runner

You're going to pay a price for every bloody thing you do and everything you don't do. You don't get to choose to not pay a price.
