Equestria Girls: A MLP:FiM Spin Off

Faust left the show early in season 2. Her thoughts on the show are interesting trivia, but ceased to be relevant many years ago.

It is sometimes interesting when analyzing the early show though, because you can see the differences in the way the show turned out. For example, Lauren envisioned the Everfree Forest as being a weird and scary place, which is how it was treated in season 1, but later seasons treated it in a relatively mundane manner.

Well, some of Faust's ideas are becoming reality now, after all, so she isn't that irrelevant at the moment.

They're just a bunch of Youtube/home video style clips, mostly of the cast failing at doing something or referencing memes.

It's... kinda lame, to be honest.

Also, this is a kids show, Fred. No mammogram reference here, I'm sure.

I have no idea what a ponygram is, either.

At least it shows Flash and Sunset together.

It reeks a bit of Were Still Relevant Dammit, with all these meme references, like that bottle flip part. The main show is also increasingly referencing memes, mainly early brony memes like 20 percent cooler.

20% cooler was referenced by the show's advertising all the way back in the summer of 2011 (between seasons 1 and 2). But I suppose it hasn't been referenced in the main show before. It's weird that it's coming up so much now all of a sudden.

Some of those were actually pretty fun, some pretty lame. Standard fare when it comes to those types of videos IRL, so pretty accurate to the inspiration in a roundabout way.

I liked the bloopers of the music videos in particular. And the girls trying to pose in the hallway and messing about. That's cute.

And Pinkie, please, stop breaking reality.

That one seemed to me like a lame gag that went on for too long, and then it becomes obvious she's ACTUALLY placing stickers on people's heads via Pinkie logic, and then it becomes hillariously disturbing.

Also, I very much welcome the gifs of Sunny shuffling that this produced. It's adorable.

It's basically the same situation, declaring her bisexual after the series has ended. And then she even waters it down by labelling it subject to "fan interpretation". How non-committal can you get?

I mean, I like the idea, but colour me unimpressed by the execution.

It's also watered down by the fact that FIM is the product of many minds. At least Rowling could single-handedly dictate what is canon.

So... is EQG not done then? I thought it had gotten canned, but the leaks from two years ago suggested they wanted EQG to continue past FIM.

That's what I heard too.

The promo says "final set of adventures", so yeah, this is the last.

Yeah, I figured it was just lead time. We heard when they shut down production, but there was still stuff that hasn't aired yet.

I'm still holding out for a Power Rangers-esque ending where everybody has to give up their magic to save the day.
