"Most likely," Wolverine said. "And She-Hulk counts too, but like you only in terms of actual age. If you're worried about snagging a date, try doing it for your civilian identity. As for me, I prefer being a bachelor. Anytime I'm in a relationship that's remotely romantically, it ends tragically."

"Wolverine, can we leave now?" Starfire asked the mutant.

Faiza replied to Majestic. Although she hadn't really known any Amish people it was perfectly understandable.

"Fair enough."

She then returned to looking around the base, trying to get a feel for the place.

"Wow. You are a stick in the mud, aren't you?" Flash said, putting on his mask. "I salute you, Major Buzzkill. Have fun walking!" And with that, he rushed off into the distance.

"What's a toaster?" Impulse asked, scratching the side of his head. "It's not that hard. Stop being such a sour puss about these things." He grumbled, going back to his game.

"Wolverine," Steel intoned again as he stepped forward. He held out the black cube holding the power source, "You are old and your reputation presents you as honorable and wise when unhindered by killer rage. This, while so clearly a tool that could be used for the betterment of men, is also clearly a weapon in the wrong hands. I have the resources I can scrounge together, but I hold doubts that I can truly see to it that the best possible outcome is achieved in regards to this. May I ask of you your advise?"

Kara laughed at the others mentioning chores, super powers or not it wasn't something she enjoyed. Back at the orphanage, one of her chores was to help clean bathrooms, usually by hand. Just the thought of it made her stick out and make an expression of disgust, for a few seconds.

"Sure," she said with a smile and a wink "just don't peek at my messages," she teased Gear. She then handed him a nice looking phone to the genius teen. Sure she had just met him, but even if she had just med Static's friend he seemed friendly and trustable.

It was very expensive to have been bought by an orphan girl and in fact it wasn't. It had been stolen, before she had met Jacob...

Starfire

"Is that the palladium battery you retrieved from the Super-Adaptoid of Hammer's?" Starfire frowned at the battery. "Do you know how skilled Hammer is with making Earth technology?"

"Aside from really basic stuff, like Microsoft Office programs, normal internet, and rudimentary science projects, not much," Wolverine explained to Starfire. "He hires out others to do all the really advanced stuff for him and then claims it for himself only because its his brand, and even then its all knockoffs of the other big companies. Mostly Wayne, Luthor, and Stark."

"Then he certainly must have hired someone especially skilled to make the Super-Adaptoid," Starfire frowned and cross her arms. "It copied Flash's, Impulse's, Aquaman's, and my powers, and only went down because Hammer wanted it to go down, but Steel here thankfully removed its power source."

"That power source and those powers are certainly advanced technology beyond what Hammer should be capable of on his own," Starfire explained to Wolverine and Steel. "Stark is Iron Man over in New York, right?"

"If so, then he would be capable of this sort of advanced technology, but I don't think even Wayne or Luthor could make something like what we fought," Starfire concluded to Wolverine and Steel and looked over Steel. "You seem skilled enough in making powered armor like Stark's... so maybe you should examine it in search of its origin."

"Well, the Super-Adaptoid did not seem like something Earth would have at its current technological level," Starfire blushed slightly, and rubbed her head nervously. "So I had been thinking about what they might mean since if they were mass produced, I would have to warn my sister of them!"

"Mass-produced Super-Adaptoids would be a threat even to Tamaran if they got off the planet," Starfire frowned slightly, looking away. This was Starfire in her 'Princess of Tamaran' persona, the persona she uses where she had to be a serious leader for an entire planet and race of people. Her sister, Blackfire, was better at being a serious leader, of course, but Starfire could achieve that if she felt it was important enough.

Wonder Girl gave Gear a friendly nod as she stood beside the other two, although she hesitated for a moment before fishing out her smartphone. Static had proven himself to her by now, she thought, handing the device over. Besides, half of the contacts and message are in urdu anyway...

Abandoned radio tower

There came a chuckle from behind Gear and Static, and they face palmed simultaneously, groaning.

"Gear?"Asked a voice. "Really, that's the best you could come up with?" Gear looked back over his shoulder at the sound of approaching footsteps, rolling his eyes.

"I only had thirty seconds to come up with something..." Gear stopped, his brain working to come up with a fake name for whoever was about to walk through the door, but was cut off by the door opening.

"Cisco." Said a young hispanic man in a graphic tee and hoodie, "Big Belly Burger" drink cup in hand. "Just Cisco. I'm not letting you come up with my code name, "Gear."" Cisco Ramon was someone all three of the girls would recognize. He was the TA for their Science Teacher, Ms. Friezel. Once, he'd even subbed for her. And it was awesome. Static sighed, shaking his head.

"Right." He admitted with reluctance. "This is Cisco. Him and Gear work together to make all my tech." Gear rolled his eyes.

"Working together is a stretch." He muttered, and Cisco mussed his hair.

"He's the brain. I'm the imagination."

JA West HQ

Majestic gave a reluctant shrug and plopped down on the couch next to Impulse.

"Is something the matter?" He asked, wondering why Impulse was so grouchy all of the sudden.

Wolverine, Starfire and Steel.

Before anyone else could do anything, however, a big blue mailbox on the street corner slid backwards, revealing a hidden elevator. Out of said hidden elevator walked Agent Turpin. He held out his open palm to Steel.

"SHIELD's going to need that paladium, young man." He said bluntly.

Kitty likewise handed over her cell. There wasn't any reason not to, after all. Though she felt a need to protest for the blonde. "I don't think 'Gear' is that bad," she said, before gasping in surprise. "You-!" What was the science TA doing here? Granted, she hadn't been at the school long, but she could at least recognize him. Science was a pretty memorable class, after all.

After a moment, she pulled a strange expression. She herself had superpowers...her first friend here was a superhero...and now a TA was working with them? Why was this whole city flooded with people like this? She wouldn't be surprised at this point if everyone else she'd met was related to the superhero business too.

Telepathy is a funny thing.

The ability to break through one of the last defenses of individuality... it wasn't an ability that could be taken lightly. Like all things in life, mastering the ability took time - part of which would invariably be spent having difficulty controlling what one 'heard' at first. Then there was the problem of the morality of such an ability; when was the 'right' time to use it? The 'wrong' time?

Sadly, human nature is as unpredictable as fate itself was when handing out said ability to those who had the mindset to use it without losing themselves in the process. One person might be horrified by the notion of invading his family and friends' privacy, and swear never to use it once he had it under control. Another might see an 'easy way out', and use it for nothing but her personal gain: reading and manipulating others, making herself the ultimate sycophant to people's desires in an effort to rise to the top. Yet another might have no higher aspirations aside from finding the next greater thrill their new ability could give them - to see how far they can push or pull people until they are discovered. And one more may simply succumb to the 'voices' in their head, and either withdraw into themselves in sheer desperation... or lash out at their perceived 'madness', taking others with them.

Then there were the select few who had another idea: to use this ability to help others, like and unlike them. Charles Xavier was a particularly prominent figure of such a belief - after all, what better way to prove that people with these abilities could truly do good than by example? It would be an extremely slow-moving process, but even the first step had to be taken in order to get anywhere.

Psylocke wondered to herself where, exactly, she fell on that spectrum. Here she was, back rested on the side of a particularly large cylindrical chimney, spying on the group of teenaged would-be-do-gooders in the abandoned radio tower across the street. She couldn't deny that despite the nonchalance of her outward expressions when traversing Jump City's rooftops and hiding in plain sight, she still found herself enjoying the thrill of the fight - the thrill of mystery. Then there was the incident with Hector Hammond and his... 'facility'. She didn't show it outwardly, but that was one of the few times she was truly angered by something - a 'righteous fury', some might call it. And then there was this: tailing these teens from afar, concern for their safety running through her mind. She doubted they noticed what she had been doing during the fight downtown - nudging (or outright tossing) nosy people back into buildings via telepathy, and discouraging others with a soft whisper into their minds.

Did the superpowered teenagers know what they were getting into? Heh. Look who's talking. They were most likely only aware of the sensationalized look at metaheroes seen from afar, with the most heinous of atrocities diluted by distance. Then again, the 'bang baby' leader was quite vocal about his and his 'siblings' woes, so maybe these teen do-gooders were now at least more aware of part of the world's opinion of superpowered humans. A complicated subject... as usual.

The unseen woman glanced away from the radio tower, off into the red-hued distance. Maybe it was time to 'formally' reveal herself to the others; both to have 'proper' backup, as it were, and to keep a closer eye on these teens. Anonymity and secrecy - even towards allies - did have its advantages, though... not to mention that despite all this, she still valued her privacy. How selfish of me.

Psylocke looked back at the radio tower, one visible eye seemingly staring right through the walls. Whatever higher power decided that she would gain the ability to read minds... in a way, she was glad it was her and not more unscrupulous fellows. At least with her, if the time came that metahumans became the next outright-persecuted race of humans, she could simply disappear. Like she always has.

Time will tell, I suppose.

In some unknown part of Jump City, an eerie, emerald glow appeared. Electricity warped and crackled, scorching a tree and several nearby bushes. A shadowy figure appeared in the mess.

Ambush Bug looked at the burning area. "Whoopsie." He promptly collapsed.

Steel nodded with his impassive metal face. "I do recognize the battery as being similar in concept to Tony Stark's arc-reactor technology, but not precisely. I garner that it's based off the same theoretical concepts but achieved by different methods. I can say for sure then that this battery is not taken from Stark, but one of his contemporaries. Lex Luthor, one of Bruce Wayne's pet geniuses, some nameless prodigy, I cannot say. I am most familiar with Stark's Tech, my armor largely inspired by the Iron Man suit."

Majestic rolled his eyes, glaring right back. He had no idea why he'd even been concerned that something was wrong.

"Oh, really? You have no idea what my problem with you is?" He asked rhetorically, and started counting off on his fingers. "You're rude, you're obnoxious, you're a showoff, you're reckless, you're sloppy, you don't care about working with the team or... He blinked. "What is Flash, again? Your cousin? Nephew? Uncle?" He shrugged. "All you seem to care about is making sure everyone knows how "cool" you are, or being "crash." WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?"

Impulse's lips started to quiver, until he finally stood on top of his chair and pointed at Majestic. "And why are you such an idiot, huh?! You were the only person here young enough to pay attention to me, and every time I tried to hang out with you, you just... waved me off like a kid! You're not an adult, alright?! You're young, just like me, and I thought we could be friends, but you're so focused on being an adult you don't realize how much of an idiot you are! But you know what?! I don't need to hang out with you anymore! Star Lord is a thousand times cooler than you are! And you wanna know something else? The only reason the others hang out with you is because you're the strongest, cuz you're just as annoying as me!"

With that speech done, Impulse blew the worst raspberry, pulling down his mask over sobbing eyes as he ran off, just as the Flash ran in. "Woah." The Scarlet Speedster said, pulling up his googles. "Anyone write down that guy's plaque? What just happened here?"

Majestic blinked, stunned. Had he been that bad to Impulse? Had...had Impulse really wanted to be his friend? All that time, he'd thought that Impulse had just been trying to get under his skin. Maybe he'd been wrong. He turned his attention slowly to the Flash.

"Am I annoying?" He asked dumbly.
