They replied, and their response basically amounted to "I'm just writing the fandom's opinion down! Why are you so biased?!"
Effectively showing that they didn't listen to single thing I told them. Okay, maybe it was unfair that I accused them of writing their own opinion down, but then again, why even bother? Why restore the example after it was deleted with an explanation?
I'm not even trying to slander them or anything. I gave them a second chance, told them to remove the entry because it was against the rules and all they did was complain.

This is on Peppa Pig
- The Scrappy:
- Even those who like the series or watch it ironically tend to hate the narrator, since he's the textbook example of Narrating the Obvious. He supports the ill belief that Viewers Are Morons.
- Mr. Potato is disliked by a lot of people too, due to his annoying theme music and jingle every time he appears, his design being out of place, his omnipresence in the entire series and his voice. He's even considered the Jimmy Savile of the Peppa Pig universe!
- Out of the kids in Peppa's playgroup, Pedro Pony is the most hated. This is because of him being annoying, dumb, an offensive American stereotype, his design being a blatant rip-off of a certain aardvark's, his voice, and the Baked Beans Song he sings in an episode further added to his hatedom.
- The Queen is also hated, due to being an offensive stereotype of Queen Elizabeth II. Even The Queen herself hated how she was portrayed in the show.
- Delphine Donkey and her family are hated by some people too, due to being offensive French stereotypes. The fact that they're donkeys doesn't help one bit.
- Even the main character, Peppa, is hated, likely due to being bossy, rude and a poor role model.
Most of these, such as the narrator don't fit since, well, it's a kid's show. Not every kid will pick up every single thing that happens in the show. Also:
- He's even considered the Jimmy Savile of the Peppa Pig universe!
Comparing someone who's done some messed up crap... with a talking potato?
How's your day been?Pedro and Delphine could fall under Ethnic Scrappy if the groups in question hate them.

...whatever happened to that? I know tropin got the boot, but...what about the other party?
Tropineasily got the boot for other reasons I think. But we may as well call up ~CAS Hero to settle the SVTFOE debate.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. From TheScrappy.Danganronpa:
- Danganronpa Togami:
- Byakuya Togami himself tends to verge on this, thanks to his Jerkass demeanour being dialed Up To Eleven while being forced to wield a massive Idiot Ball. To make things worse; in the main series, Togami's behaviour nearly got him killed and led to him becoming less of a prick, but here he's praised constantly by the main narrator and rarely suffers repercussions for his actions to absurd degrees. The fact that he's infamously Out of Focus does not help.
- Despite this, this does not apply to Togami in any other piece of media, where he's actually quite popular, if a bit controversial.

So, as the entry points out, Togami isn't normally considered to be The Scrappy outside of this one Light Novel and I'm pretty sure this isn't an alternate continuity. Can I cut it?

"Let’s see who’s stronger: someone that has something to protect, or someone that has nothing to lose."
Cut. Togami is, for the most part, a Base-Breaking Character. Plus, I don't think Danganronpa Togami is well known enough among fans to cause them to view him completely as The Scrappy.
YMMV.The Hunchback Of Notre Dame
- Base-Breaking Character: Scrappy they may be, but the gargoyles do contribute a lot of genuinely Funny Moments. Which side of the Broken Base a fan falls into often depends on their age. People who were teens or adults when the film came out tend to hate the gargoyles, and people who were children at the time love them. Then there are those who don't think they're unequivocally awful, but don't like them much either; or they like Victor and Laverne but think Hugo is too crass and over the top. And then there are those that think they're cute and funny characters, but they're completely misplaced in this movie and would fit better in either Aladdin or Hercules. One thing that does tend to be generally agreed upon, though, is that the decision to depict the gargoyles as definitely animate and sentient in several scenes, rather than purely figments of Quasimodo's imagination, was a bad idea.
- The Scrappy: Hugo is probably one of, if not the most hated Disney sidekick of all time. Even people who like the other Gargoyles tend to single him out as the worst part of the movie, mostly due to causing a great deal of Mood Whiplash, having little personality beyond being a Fat Idiot, especially in comparison to Victor and Laverne, and his creepy attraction to Djali.
Since BBC and Scrappy are mutually exclusive, what to do?
Edited by Ferot_Dreadnaught on Nov 22nd 2020 at 3:22:32 AM
Maybe the first example could be tweaked to say "the other gargoyles (minus Hugo, who is considered The Scrappy)" if it's true that Hugo is considered disproportionately worse?
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I was looking through the Video Game Scrappy page and noticed that a number of entries do not seem to qualify or are otherwise rather flawed. Here are some of the entries I take issue with:
- Professor Chops (Donkey Kong Country) - Only hated for gameplay reasons. Seems more like an Annoying Video Game Helper than a straight up Scrappy to me.
- Prince Charmles (Dragon Quest) - He is actively designed to be despised, which the entry even points out.
- Ash Crimson (King of Fighters) - Zero-Context Example. If this entry were expanded upon, I can see it being kept, but until then, we should probably comment this entry out.
- Pyribbit (Kirby) - Only his boss fight is brought up as a reason for putting him on the page. This entry seems like it belongs in That One Boss instead.
- Dark Green Miis (Streetpass Mii Plaza) - Only hated for gameplay reasons. This entry blatantly belongs in Tier Induced Scrappy instead.
- Host (Wii Party) - Another Zero-Context Example that just complains about the character's presentation.
Found on Rent-A-Girlfriend. This entry goes into detail about how everyone hates Mami...then admits she's the most-liked character in the entire show on MAL. Is it due for a cut? From what I've seen, the people who consider her to be an annoying waste of time really think that, but there are just as many who hate her for the right reasons, and even some who like her for her Brutal Honesty.
- The Scrappy: Nobody likes Mami for the following reasons:
- Not only does she come off as a blatant manipulator who toys with people's feelings, such as how she abruptly broke up with Kazuya after just a month and told him to his face that it's because she met someone she likes more, which is later revealed to be a lie, but fans are further put off by how cruelly she treats him, viciously insulting him and deriding him as a pervert in front of Chizuru, which her and Kazuya's friends find very uncomfortable despite their own tendency to rib on him, and even going as far to demand Kazuya apologize on her behalf when Chizuru defends him and calls her out on it.
- Fans are extremely put off for her motives for trying to break Kazuya and Chizuru up, which isn't because she still likes Kazuya and wants to get back with him like most instances of this, but out of spite over the fact that Kazuya apparently found another girlfriend so soon after she dumped him.
- The hatred fans have for Mami even extended to her English voice actress, Laura Stahl. Take note that the vitriol started right after the English cast was announced
. Even worse, she was forced to address the hate mail she received on her birthday.
- When the series had an official collaboration with another company to sell limited edition products, Mami's products barely sold
.
- This is interestingly subverted on My Anime List, where Mami actually has the most number of favorites in the series, even more than Chizuru, Ruka, and Sumi. See
it
for
yourselves
. Just how really high is her actual number of favorites? She's currently the most favorited anime character introduced in 2020 on the site, while the second highest goes to Miko Iino
from Kaguya-sama: Love Is War.
A bunch from Comic Books (I have bolded parts of the excerpts for emphasis):
Is being hated by a section of the fandom enough to qualify a character for scrappydom?
Is there such a thing as a "minor" scrappy?
I am aware that the Jurgens-era Titans team is not highly-regarded, but the way this is phrased makes it sound like only some fans hate the character, whereas the requirements are that the character be widely hated. If the character is indeed widely hated, then the "some classic fans" part should be excised. If it is just "some classic fans", then she doesn't fall under this trope, does she?
Again, the phrasing here is contradictory. Either she has a large hatedom, or that hatedom is a Vocal Minority.
This example doesn't even explain why fans or writers hate the character, and being hated by Dan DiDio doesn't mean much, considering that he's legendary for his irrational hatreds.
Again, the phrasing implies that her hatedom is only part of the fanbase.
Not included here is a whole hidden block of text about how she got Rescued from the Scrappy Heap, which raises questions about whether she still belongs on the Scrappy page at all.
Does temporary scrappydom count for this trope?

By now, it should be clear to all except the most dense of us that sheep are secretly conspiring to kill us all and steal our pants.I'd like to propose adding a few examples to the Visual Novel page, from the YMMV pages for the respective visual novels.
For the Ace Attorney franchise, specifically from Spirit of Justice.
- While Nahyuta is an intensely polarizing character at best, the hatred for Queen Ga'ran is far more unanimous. Widely considered a strong contender for the worst villain in the franchise, she is one of the most hated aspects of the game by its critics, and even fans of the game admit to her being a weak point. Common reasons for hating her includes her incredibly gaudy Obviously Evil design and appearance often compared to a bad Disney villain, being a Generic Doomsday Villain seemingly cobbled together from the traits of more popular villains such as Von Karma (unbeaten prosecutor who takes extreme pride in their reputation), Morgan (powerless spirit medium obsessed with getting vengeance on her sister) and Blaise (absolute power who has an emotionally abusive and domineering relationship with their child), her immense stupidity that leads her to going through with a trial rather than just having Apollo and his friends executed, having virtually no character depth of any kind, and the game still trying to act like she's not the culprit of Inga's murder until the final part of the trial. Good luck finding anyone who even remotely likes her.
Also for Shinrai: Broken Beyond Despair
- Kotoba is commonly cited as people's least favorite character, mainly because of his over-the-top perverted nature, which isn't helped by him stalking Momo. One Steam reviewer even compared him to Teruteru from Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair(who's also a Scrappy), and even went so far as to say that Teruteru actually had some redeeming features.
- Nobara's father is similarly disliked for his creepy behavior toward his daughter. It doesn't help that his only role in the story is to drive Nobara and Raiko to the party, something that could be fulfilled by any other person with a car and a license.
I think Ga'ran falls more under Hate Sink as she was made with the intention of being despised. While I do agree she has zero fans, she's made with the intent of being hated, and HS and Scrappy are not mutually exclusive as Scrappy is unintentionally hated while HS is intentionally hated. Teruteru is a Scrappy because he's unintentionally hated, I feel with characters like Ga'ran or Junko they are made to be hated whether they have fans or not.
It's debatable but I think Hiyoko might also fall under Hate Sink too although she does have fans, I feel like she's intentionally cruel and her death was meant to be a "Wow, who did it?" compared to Ensemble Dark Horse Ibuki Mioda's death who was way better received.

Strix@ Cyborg might be more of a Replacement Scrappy since he did took the spot of Manhunter.
From Grand Theft Auto: Vice City:
- Take That, Scrappy!: When Tommy kills Lance for betraying the former, hell yeah!
Does that really belong here? Lance isn't listed as a Scrappy and on top of this, his character sheet lists him as a Hate Sink
I'm not too familiar with the show, but if she got the top spot on My Anime List, then she's at least a Base-Breaking Character. I'd say cut her from The Scrappy and move any relevant things to Base-Breaking Character.
Speaking of Danganronpa, I have questions about some candidates.
- Fans have also expressed their distaste for Yasuhiro Hagakure due to him being stupid just for the sake of being stupid (which also seems to be a case of Characterization Marches On, as he is not as much of an idiot during the first chapters as he is from chapter 3 onwards) while overall being unrelevant to the plot for the most part. His Free Time Events don't help at all, picturing him as such a Jerkass that even Makoto of all people can't stand being next to, even stating that he can't bring himself to call him a friend even after his final Free Time Event (If you need context, Yasuhiro begged Makoto to give him his organs just so he could pay off a debt with the yakuza as he doesn't want to use his own savings. To make things worse, he kicks Makoto out of his room when he declines). It also doesn't help that he constantly refers to Sakura as "Ogre" instead of her name. Some fans go as far as to state that he overstayed his welcome in the game and that other characters such as Chihiro or Kiyotaka should have survived instead of him. It appears that even Spike Chunsoft is willing to take potshots at him, with him becoming the Designated Victim in the demos of both Trigger Happy Havoc and Killing Harmony.
- Despite this, the light novel Ultra Despair Hagakure and the anime Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School have helped the fandom come to terms with his survival, primarily due to his Character Development and providing some comedy during their otherwise dreary narratives.
- Teruteru Hanamura was assigned this from the start thanks to taking Anything That Moves to the extreme to the point where it got grating. Granted, his execution and the circumstances surrounding it earned him some sympathy, but much of it vanished after his Free Time Events, which reveal very little about him, outright contradict his love for his family by portraying him as resentful and insulting towards his younger siblings' talents, and end in him drugging Hajime.
- Fortunately for him, his appearances in Danganronpa 3 were better received than in Danganronpa 2.
- Akane Owari is fairly disliked, at least by those who don't touch Free Time Events, for her character seemingly being nothing more than running gags, being one of the students who opposes Hajime the most in trials, and having a very plain and sexualized design. While fans who do her Free Time Events agree she has far more depth and a much more interesting story than you'd expect, the main plot makes it out to be subtle and easily missed, though constantly hinted at.
- However, similar to Hagakure and Hanamura, her reception has warmed up considerably with time, thanks to additional media and her aforementioned Free Time Events giving her more depth.
- Hiyoko Saionji is this especially because she is characterized as a Jerkass who uses her innocent and sweet child-like appearence (altough she is Older Than She Looks) and talent as a traditional dancer to gain popularity, which is the complete opposite of her personality. She is presented as someone who enjoys killing bugs for fun and one of the main reasons why people dislike her is because she spends most of her screentime bullying Mikan and Kazuichi, with a preference for the former who she usually Slut-Shames, and she insults everyone else in the cast, sans Mahiru, at least in one occasion each (but unlike Mikan and Kazuich, they either ignore her or laugh at her insults). Not even her Pet the Dog moments with Mahiru is enough for fans to enjoy her character. It doesn't help much that Mikan is also a fairly liked character (or a Base-Breaking Character depending on who you ask), so this reaction was to be expected (then again, Mikan gets to kill her in chapter 3 for becoming a witness of Ibuki's murder). While players that do her Free Time Events claim that there is more to her character than what meets the eye and that she was going through Character Development in chapter 3 by attempting to become a better person for the recently deceased Mahiru, only to get her arc cut short because of her death in chapter 3 being a last-minute addition (as Fuyuhiko was originally going to be killed by Mikan in this chapter alongside Ibuki and Hiyoko was meant to be a survivor), and that her appearence in Danganronpa 3 tried to tone down her bullying tendencies, fans Never Live It Down when it comes to how horrible she was to Mikan.
Since the sub-entries label these characters as having been Rescued from the Scrappy Heap and the Scrappy characters are supposed to be consistently hated (else Toko Fukawa would qualify as well), I want to hear your opinion about this.

I think so. I've talked to them and they don't seem to be aware of the rules.
Let's wait for their response. They seemed confused about what the problem is, thinking the wording makes the entry invalid, not understanding that there are rules in the first place. If they continue to defend this entry we should consider reporting them.
Let's give them one last chance, if they delete the entry by themselves they should be free of consequences.
