So, not to take away from the discussion about the Movie (which I've just been sort of scrolling past with my eyes shut tight) but... when did things change so that Steven suddenly abhors violence? He was always willing to fight when he thought it was necessary before (One of his original cool moments was him jumping in front of the Finger Laser and generating his shield for the first time on purpose) and there was even an entire episode focused on the fact that he was finally a competent fighter and could defend himself. Then, all of a sudden, he becomes real big on nonviolent conflict resolution and talking things out, even against enemies that 100% deserve violence, like The Diamonds (especially White). I mean... The Cluster? Remember? What must have been hundreds of thousands of shattered gems forcibly fused together and turned into a bomb that existed for no reason but to destroy the Earth out of petty revenge? Or the fact that they've Clustered multiple planets? Or the corrupted Gems, who'd been turned into monsters because the Diamonds just wanted to flip the table rather than admit they'd lost? Do none of these people deserve a punch in the nose, Steven??
My various fanfics. He punches them in the emotions. It takes longer to heal than noses.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI never got the impression from the movie that Steven was against violence. Before he knew who Spinel was he was perfectly fine with scrapping with her. In the end he changes to talking because he had reason to believe then that she could be reasoned with.

What's the point of violence when the people you're fighting also have emotions?
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I mean, I'm pretty sure Thanos had emotions, too, but he still needed to be punched.
My various fanfics. The Crystal Gems thoroughly lost when they tried violence on the Diamonds. That's why he didn't just try to punch White. For Reunited, even if he believed he could take on a Diamond it was the day of Garnet's wedding so if it COULD be resolved nonviolently he was gonna try it

The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.![]()
She refers to the Cluster as one of many and something Homeworld could do without in favor of more renewable resources (her argument, iirc, was essentially that by studying organic life they might be able to acquire resources more efficiently without strip mining planets), implying that Homeworld has too many of the former and not enough of the latter.
I don’t really remember the Cluster being referred to as exceptional. Significant, yes, but not exceptional.
I wonder how many Spinels there are. Was Spinel the only one of her kind made purely to be Pink's playmate, or are there a lot of Spinels? I'm leaning towards the latter since reset!Pearl seemed to immediately know what a Spinel's function was, but what would the other Spinels be used for? Reset!Pearl seemed to indicate that their purpose is to be a Gem's best friend and... what other Gem would have a use for a Gem with that purpose?
When we're done, there won't be anything left.High-ranking gems clearly have (often very expensive) perks that don't serve a direct functional purpose. The court and parties in the Diamond Days arc show Homeworld is not devoid of aesthetic, it's just reserved for the few and very sterile.

There's a character in My Hero Academia going through a bit of a redemption arc, and boy are people contenuous about it lol.
There are great examples of redemption arcs tho; Dinobot comes to mind too.
