Migrated to Chloe Jessica!
on a different topic, if anyone has a higher-res version of my avatar, and/or one without the watermarks, i would appreciate if you'd share it. i couldn't find this exact frame anywhere, so i screencapped it from the Stronger Than You music video, and the artifacting is starting to bug me.

Have any of you seen this episode of Mao Mao, Heroes of Pure Heart
? Steven Universe and other shows get rekt, basically. By Cartoon Network itself. As a partial SU fan, I can say it's hilarious!

Merry Chriztmaz ya filthy animals!Rewatch, Day 20
- Shadow Peridot.
◊
- Steven should have asked Peridot why she's apparently telling him she's going to screw him over.
- Amethyst turning into a functioning, full-sized helicopter is the most obvious time when a character inexplicably does something they could not do before. It only gets a pass for pure absurdity.
- That's a lovely cross-shaped explosion
◊.
- It's great when Peridot's hair isn't rigid, but still isn't like actual hair, instead being more like rubber
◊.
- Did we see where that hole in the roof came from?
- Garnet catching Greg implied she foresaw Peridot kicking him off. Why didn't she just tell Peridot he couldn't fly and save Greg the trauma?
- Dietz as Percy kinda sounds like Kath Soucie.
- Amethyst's shapeshifting is a handy alien-teaching tool. Though Peridot may unknowingly assume chickens are usually purple.
- The show uses it's second freeze frame as Peridot admits she likes Amethyst and Pearl, but doesn't understand Garnet.
- The way Pearl and Amethyst form Opal is the clearest evidence that fusion sometimes happen with very little dancing for pacing's sake, not always because of the involved gems' closeness.
- Opal sighs, but was not credited. Was it recycled audio of Mann, or from some uncredited actor?
- Opal doesn't defuse on-screen. One gets the feeling Amethyst and Pearl are sometimes forming her casually offscreen.
- "Log date seven fourteen two." "No, you say it 'seven one four two'." Then how do you tell "7-14-2" from "7-1-4-2"?
- Steven dying is someone else's body doesn't seem to affect him much.
- Peridot was completely right. Malachite was not remotely as dangerous as the Cluster. They could have taken care of the Cluster before Malachite even demanded another tribute.
- Why is there a warp pad next to the barn? Did the Crystal Gems install it there recently? Did they still even have that capability?
- POV Break: We see the second possessed Watermelon Steven before the act.
- Jasper can admit she was wrong.
- Jasper forming Malachite is the most obvious case of a gemstone looking bigger so you can still see it. The Watermelon Stevens jump on her face, and it's bigger than any of them!
- We were left with no idea what happened to the Watermelons Steven for what is now half of the series.
- Villeco & Molisee boarded both this episode and "Message Received", but that looked much more Molisee and this one much more Villeco.
- When Steven tries to move around in the cramped cockpit, he looks up and briefly has a defined chin.
- Ironically, Peridot pronounces peridotite "pe-RI-do-tite", which sounds more like the pronunciation of peridot she doesn't use for her own name. Steven says it "PER-i-dot-ite".
- The Cluster's "ghost arms" seem to be a unique kind of semi-solid construct.
- POV Break: The full view of the bubbled Cluster.

Migrated to Chloe Jessica!
didn't Amethyst say she'd been practicing the helicopter thing? i think that qualifies as a Hand Wave at least.
Migrated to Chloe Jessica!Rewatch, Day 21
- Where was Lion when the Crystal Gems wanted to get back to the barn?
- They were running out of room in the van, but never thought to use the warp to move the stuff. What were they even putting in it?
- Steven says Lapis could eat "acorn pie", but she may not have been able to eat before regenerated in the fifth season.
- Steven should be able to hang on even if Lapis wasn't holding anymore—he was holding her arm past the wrist.
- The mirror eyes return when Lapis shows things in water. Did getting stuck in the mirror long enough permanently give her its powers?
- "I like the cut of your gem, Steven Quartz!" I think that is the only time Steven is referred to that way.
- What was Lapis' planning by flying up onto the water tower. Was she expecting Peridot to go away or going to leave later?
- Lapis took a nap. Was that something she knew about even before being put in the mirror?
- "It's from the hole we drilled! Peridot and I sealed it and filled it with water." How deep is it then?
- "I got yo number!" says Peridot in a strangely-different voice.
- Peridot was still making audio logs and Steven could have easily replaced Peridot's tape recorder, but she never bothers to.
- The Crystal Gems could all get to the barn before Eyeball turned to look in their direction, but couldn't sneak out the huge hole on the side.
- Referring to Jasper as "the leader of the Earth mission" twice in a row is pretty contrived.
- It is very unlikely the same box of baseball uniforms would have ones that fit someone as small as Sapphire and as skinny as Pearl. Perhaps they were shapeshifting their clothes and just used the ones in the box for reference?
- A staff member once said Steven explaining baseball was also meant to accommodate international viewers who didn't know, but even outside the U.S. I would expect most people with Cartoon Network to know things as basic as what Steven says.
- Buff, puffy Army.
◊
- This is the only episode Sapphire shows off her strength (the homerun) and durability (doesn't flinch from a baseball straight to the head).
- In another instance of Aliens Speaking English getting noticeable, the Ruby's either know what "Neptune" is or are able to look it up just from hearing the name ("What a lovely-sounding planet.")
- Eyeball: much worse than she seems.
- A bundle of squiggly black lines = black hole
- We pretty commonly use the word "gemstone" to differentiate gems the objects from the individuals, but "What are gems?" has the only case I can find where it's done in-series.
We are the Crystal Gems
- Amethyst regenerated sometime between the flashback and the show's beginning. Amethyst does it fast enough for Steven not to noticed, but did he notice she changed clothes for the only time?
- Steven actually sounds younger because the audio is from the pilot, back when Callison was about thirteen.
How are gems made?
- The title is one of the few official sources that does not capitalize "gem/Gem".
- If they made more classroom gems shorts, what do you think they would make them about?
- "There's no such thing as a mommy gem or a daddy gem!" Amethyst, you know there is at least one mommy gem, and there's possibly another (White Diamond) she didn't know about.
Unboxing
- Steven's computer also has the star iris wipe tech.
- "Don't let it into the house." But wasn't it trying to get into the temple from the house?
- Even Lars' "Again!?" is recycled from "Gem Glow".
Over six months since season five ended, and Hulu still hasn't gotten past season four. It's been on the same cliffhanger for over two years.
It didn't need to be as such for international viewers.
Him explaining for the gems is fine enough explanations.
America's favorite past time, one of the more boring sports.
