I realized we don't quite know what White knew. She seems to fully understand what Steven meant by him not being his "mom" and that his body is organic. But does she know his whole life. And how?

P.S. I asked how White Diamond could see his life, think he's still Pink, but then be convinced. The answer was "White thinks he's in denial, but is disproven when she sees something we could have only guessed about."

I suspected it on first watch, but now I'm sure after looking again: None of the corruptions were fully reversed, even if what's different is just cosmetic. Which begs the question of what Nephrite et. all looked like originally.

[up][up] We still haven't gotten a solo Jenny episode yet. Or a Suitcase Sam episode.

Snowflake was probably apart of White's court.

Think we're ever going to get an explanation on what exactly was going on there when Steven's gem was removed?

Where to even begin with this?

  • The Diamond redemption (Diademption??) was rushed. But the emotional release of seeing Yellow and Blue finally admitting their own unhappiness was more than satisfying enough for me to brush it off. White's redemption was...more unsteady. She was so GOOD being the villain, her 'fall from grace' was almost disappointing. But I fully support Sugar's "no real, unredeemable villains" stance.

  • There's still a lot of "deepest lore" to uncover. Just WHAT ARE the Diamonds, especially White? She said she was "supposed to make things better" but...what does that mean? WHO told her she was supposed to be that way? Just WHAT was that...thing? that reformed around the Pink/Rose gem?? I still stand by the theory that Gems are autonomous AI, but if so, how were they created? What's the long-term backstory of Homeworld? So many questions remain...

I'm guessing by this point the Pink Diamond gem has been entirely rewired to contain Steven's consciousness. He speaks with Steven's voice and he knows only what Steven knows. But as it's still a Gem, it reflexively summons previous regenerations of Pink Diamond, even if its identity has been irrevocably changed.

So this episode was quite touching and had a lot of really big stuff (rainbow quartz and sunstone, obsidian, showing what happens when you remove steven's gem, white's implications that the other diamonds were created from her, etc) but I agree that White's redemption was rushed.

It's not even that the redemption itself was not well-written, but that too little time passed with White being the villain. I feel that she should have been given some more time, at least.

I'm also a bit sad that Jasper ultimately only got a few seconds where she didn't have any dialogue or a proper exploration of how she felt about the rather odd situation she ended up in.

Overall despite that noticeable problem if this had been the finale, i would have probably been satisfied. It does have that air of finality to it.

The one advantage of having more episodes is that most of whst i've said can be fixed with them. We could see more repercussions for the diamonds' behavior and them having to confront what they did to other gems rather than just each other, and it's plausible that we'll have an episode for jasper as well and maybe even make her a bigger part of the show.

I do wonder what exactly there is to explore now that the big myth arc seems to have been resolved.

Yeah, it feels like we should have gotten more time with White as the villain, or at least seen her at all again outside of her brief non-conversation with Steven before all of this.

Because as a villain, she was great, everything she said and did in that room was fantastic, and if we had seen a little more of what she was thinking before hand it would have worked better.

Still a great episode, it just gets knocked down from a 10 to like 9-9.5.

If I were to guess the next antagonists, my guess would a coalition of survivors from planets colonized by the gempire.

It wouldn't be difficult to make them sympathetic and it would also prevent Homeworld's atrocities from just being swept under the rug.

I mean, this is a description of visually what happened, not an elaboration of why it worked that way.
Which part specifically? For the most part, it working some other way—like one or both of Steven's halves dying instantly—would be equally arbitrary.

As to Pink Steven's... general behavior, I could see a couple reasons. For one, while human Steven seems dependent on his gem physically, gem Steven seemed mentally dependent on him. For another, he's sort of like a Cluster Gem/Shard—without his human body, he is not whole. He is not OK with that.

I think this is why they need another season, because even though the diamonds are redeemed. They still have to live up to their actions. I think that one more season is good to reflect on what happens after you make a turn from destructive behavior.

And how is Pink Steven more powerful than White Diamond?!?
You can rationalize him as not being generally more powerful, just way more willing to go all out, whereas White kept trying to use her "bleaching" power even though it didn't work.

Personally, that scene was so amazing, I don't care, especially since overpowering White wasn't really the point.

So here are my thoughts while watching the episode. After '/' are my comments after I finished watching it.

When he said he wasn't sorry: Steven what the f-?! now's not the time to be assertive! Oh. Nevermind, it worked. That was fast.

Yellow saying "After all I've done for you!": Oh, so they're doing the fighting because Yellow feels betrayed /now that I thing of it it may have come to that because she bottled up her emotions all that time and then they blew up - it also may have some similarities to what happened afteward with white.

Yellow: And that means -? Wow, finally they are disscusing the meaning behind that phrase =D ...simmilar but not what I thought / I mean, the way steven said it was better, I always assumed I was something like: "Pork chops are good, but they're not perfect (cause they don't use the whole pork), but that's not something bad, cause you can use the rest of the pork to make something very tasty."

Again that was fast (when they decided to help them escape) / I guess they always felt deep inside that there was something wrong with what White was doing.

Lapiz and Peridot's new outfits: Oh, didn't imagine Lapiz would go for those kind of pants, she kinda looks like a character from a fighting game; thought I didn't actually have any expectative, just y'know stars, but Peridot may have overdone it a bit, also those glases... she really must admire Garnet, actually it looks like she wanted to outdo her...Now that I'm looking at her better, they kinda form a star with her hair / they also look like the ones of that anime character, I don't know his name.

When they tell her that she need's to listen: ((Robo white's face)) Is scary on someone you want to convince. It's like, I'm all ears, but I'm not actually listening, just waiting till you're finished so I can tell you that you are wrong.

OH my god, what did SHE DO TO THEM / when she turned YD and BD... remembering it, I'm all like "WHITE, NO"

OH, finally, Rainbow Quartz!... not what I was expecting, totally different from the one in We Need to Talk (more masculine?... nah.)She kinda looks like a wise but wild and cool grandma. Aaaad, her weapon is an umbrella... which she uses to fly on rainbows. / can someone tell me what she said? kinda hard to understand, not an english speaker.

Ohh, new clothes; just realized Amethyst has them too.

White, you bitch, I wanted to see their fusion.

I expected Steven and Garnet fusion to be really strong and with character, but Sunstone having also Wild Style took me by surprise. And... now she's talking to the camera, I guess. I mean, maybe we can cut them some slack for that since it has been such a long run show / I just hope people don't start saying all Garnet's fusions are like Pinkie Pie, and can't break the fourth wall... I mean, there's Sugilite, but... oh god

Not the one to lag behind Peridot in the cool glasses department. Eh, Garnet? ...wait a sec, you guys spend all this time without forming just because you wanted to look nice!? / Yeah, yeah. I remember now what Yellow said, it's because of her power.

OMG, it's happening, they're all fusing! Their formation is so cool! They're BIG ENOUGH to get the work done. /I mean, they're way bigger than the others, comparing them to the mecha is kinda unfair...wonder if they are bigger than White Diamond?

YEAAH, Bismuth gave Connie her sword, they are all gonna beat this thing together / Mr & Mrs Maheswaran would probably have a heart attack if they saw her doing any of this this.

Yes. She can lift her because Bismuth is a metal, or something like that, right? ...though, you could say it's becuase of her armor.

An axe? YES! Wait, no... is a MOTHERFUCKING SWORD OF AWESOMENESS! does anybody know what's written on it? If I were in connie's place I would've said "Show off" / did the Crewniverse do this on purpose? hype Connie's new sword to hide Obsidian's even more awesome sword? Not saying this to discredit Connie, she knows how to use her stuff.

Uhh, dependant? that's what some people say about Garnet, but surely we aren't mean to see their relationship like that...? Also, obsessive..? Have you looked into a mirror lady? at least Pearl took steps to get better!! Fighting agaisnt a carcass of our Pearl, never thought that would be the use of Connie's sword, you're hurting me Crewniverse...

Maybe she did? maybe she does? wow... Steven has so little faith on his mom... Incredible the show is willing to go so deep into the "Is Steven really just Pink?" dilema. It shows how great is the show to be willing to tackle such a profound issue as an identity crisis. Yeah... I don't want to see this, I know where this is going... / she didn't ever care about Steven at all, did she? I mean, that's obvious, but all this time she just saw him as some sort of wrapper around Pink. That was surprisingly less bloody than I though.

Gem Steven appears (also the moment I realized we were on doble vision). Me: what (my face=connie's face.) Also, not bloody, but still really, really bad for Steven... they NEED to get BACK together. WOW, that must be some reivindication for Steven, HE IS NOT HIS MOM /kinda weird that it seemed for a sec like it was gonna take Pink's form, though. Wow, Gem Steven isn't really that caring, or maybe he(it?) is just that deseperate to get back together. /Anyways, that's gonna become Fanfic Fuel for sure./ Gosh dang, they're so happy they're dancing.

BURN!!! YEAH. WHITE. What's yoour excuse?? even Connie is laughing /she maybe in hysterics for everything that just happened.

Say what. Off-color? I thought she was just embarassed for the way she was acting, how did that happen? Did Gem Steven do that? Was she always like this? Did it happen when Pink left?

When they came to earth: Welp, now I know what Rebecca Sugar meant with writing herself into a corner, can't think about anything else for a next season, exept getting to know more about White Diamond's psychology/state of mind after all of this (and the other diamonds too, what changes are they gonna make to homeworld, what will be their thoughts about it...), oh and seeing Jasper reaction after being uncorrup-... nevermind the last part. / you could say they don't deserve alook at their psychology after everything they've done, but understanding something doesn't mean you agree with it, and I kinda want to see an episode of them but not through Steven's perspective... but maybe that would be too bleak. The only other thing I think they could explain is the origin of White Diamond.

Short song, but perfect way to end Steven's arc this season, direct and to the point.

Ok, that was highly satisfactory. If I were to complain, which I wont, all I could say about it, is that compressing gems uncorruption like that at the end was kind of cheating, but still, I'm satisfied by everything else so much it doesn't matter...wait, now that I thing about it the Lars' storyline concluding as soon as he came back to earth also felt, kind of, like cheating; I mean, I know it wasn't, but I would've thought he was going to be more involved.

At the very least, I imagine future Slice of Life eps could focus on Bismuth, the Off-Colors, and/or the Uncorrupted adjusting to life on Earth. It could be very easy to see a be antagonist spring up from there, too. Like someone who felt so betrayed by Pink Diamond's actions they need to lash out.
