That's I feel my disappointment. She had the setup to be a fantastic Complete Monster, her turn just felt so quick and rushed.

I mean, that was never going to be the case - they flat out told us all four Diamonds were necessary to fix the problem, ergo, that was going to happen. Complete Monster was never in the cards.

Honestly Blue was the only HeelโFace Turn that felt mostly natural, the show already gave us the impression that enforcing Homeworld's brutal orthodoxy is making her miserable, so that's a believable jump that she gets to the point where she's just sick of it all.
Yellow mostly worked, but yeah, White was kinda disappointing in terms of how short her stint as Big Bad was.
Maybe a poofed Diamond would be usable for the purpose of fixing the gems?

Yeah I agree. I feel like a good Family-Unfriendly Aesop is not everybody is redeemable. And it was a Science Fantasy show, so I feel like there could have been a way to do it without White. But I guess that's more cynical than Rebecca Sugar wanted to convey on her show.

That's been SU's thing, but if there were any (Myth Arc related) villain where the only choice was to fight, White was going to be the one.
Edited by CaptainCapsase on Jan 21st 2019 at 8:17:57 AM
Hey, Weird AL still hasn't been on SU, and he's been on almost every other significant cartoon of the 2010's. Everything from Gravity Falls to Bojack Horseman to Friendship Is Magic to Teen Titans Go has had him on it, so why can't Steven Universe?
Unless Milo Murphy's Law is keeping him preoccupied. In that case, oh well.

I glad to see I'm not the only one that got series finale vibe from this. Good thing the Slice of Life format works with Post Script Seasons (also helps that they can now take a little opportunity to explore life in the new status quo and maybe set up the movie)
Anyway, I wonder what will be covered in season 6. Perhaps the origin of Gemkind. White Diamond saying Pink is a part of her that she has to suppress, and her remarks about the other Diamonds impurities kind of implies that theory about her being like Father from FMA where she created the Chromatic Diamonds by discarding her own emotions and "impurities" is true, but it turns out she wasn't as thorough as she thought she was.
It kind of depends on how many seasons they got renewed for though; if it's more than one season, they need a new Myth Arc; townie episodes, or even their Homeworld equivalents can't carry the show for more than 1 season IMO.

@Red & Smasher: Rude
I honestly actually agree that Marty may be only irredeemable character, and that's simply because he doesn't want or care to change.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99ยขI got serious Mob Psycho 100 vibes from the confrontation between Steven's Gem and White Diamond.
This finale of sorts did what I love about SU and gave me a ton of positive energy! I definitely agree there is a lot more to explore in the world of Steven Universe, but I'm glad major and minor plot threads were resolved. Resolution in plot is what I like to see!
Sunstone was a highlight. I have a 90's character myself and they reminded me of my character so you know I'll probably end up drawing a picture of them together at some point.
The SU tumblr blog posted a bingo card before the event and I think most of the things on the card happened. That is to say, there was certainly a bingo to be had XD
Creator of Heroes of Thantopolis: http://heroesofthantopolis.com/The epilogue was, like I hoped, showing how the series could end with closure, but with enough detail left to do many character things later.
Even if whatever overall Story Arc follows isn't as good as the one so far, I'm OK with that. Nothing's perfect, right?

Well there has to be some reason for White to repress her flaws, so I'd say the origins of Gemkind still haven't been explored. And I'm certain there will be episodes dedicated to showing the ideological shift on Homeworld (and again, possibly setting up forshadowing for The Movie). Plus Emerald would still likely have a bone to pick with Captain Lars.

I mean, the Diamonds might have a word for Emerald if she wants to bother him. They're still in charge of Homeworld, and Homeworld is still an absolute monarchy. One interesting angle to explore in season 6 would be how, even in a position of theoretically absolute power, you can't simply wave your hand and reform society to your liking. In fact, reform in the direction of a more liberal society tends to be extremely hard in such an environment due to the lack of any civic traditions in traditional society.

Also I can't believe no one's talked about how Pearl incorporated the Bad Pearl jacket into her new form, like DAMN

All three of the Diamonds turns did feel kind of rushed, but not horrible all things considered.
