I have to say I am a little bit concerned about where Steven universe is going at this point and what path it will lead towards in the future. I, mean for obvious reasons, Steven can’t just leave the Earth or the crystal gems. But, at the exact same time, after seeing just how much the other Diamonds truly care for Pink, I don’t really think that forsaking them is the right way to go either, even with their less less than admirable actions in the past within mind. Also part of me feels like they are going to do two white diamond what they essentially did to yellow and blue; make her actions seem less than admirable, but, still keep her from being evil in the traditional sense, when look in between the lines.
And even if the show actually does go in a way that has a middle ground in between the subjects of my two fears, what happens then, especially if the corrupted gems are all cured? I mean sure we might get a bit more backstory from the recently healed corrupted gems, but, what then? If the corrupted gem monsters are all healed, there will be no more of the monster hunting aspect of the show, if the crystal gems no longer have any more issues with the diamonds, there will be no more Homeworld attacks, what will be left for the Crystal Gems to defend the Earth against?

I mean, we haven't seen the Gems go after a monster onscreen since early Season 4, so...
And bud, the CGs' tensions with the Diamonds won't end just because they helped heal the Corrupted Gems. That's not how the show rolls.
I honestly don't think we can say for certain where the show is going until at least the season finale - and that's just wishful thinking on my part.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢@WD having Mind Manipulation powers, you mean like Slllaaaaaade?
The tension won't stop, but maybe Earth can become to the Gempire what Iceland was to the Brave New World, a place for unrulies, off-colors, and other people who aren't a good fit for the system to just come and exist in peace.
However, if the Gempire only expands by sucking out life like a Galactus, maybe a post-growth model could be implemented? I mean, what's all the conquering for anyway?

So their empire has more resources to build more Gems, but then there's the question of why they need so many Gems in the first place, could be they feel they need to constantly produce warrior Gems because they can,I don't think they're fighting anyone to justify having huge armies but it's probably suitable as a deterrent against anyone thinking of going to war against them
have a listen and have a link to my discord serverWe don't know of any other space empires, though it could be a case Always a Bigger Fish scares them because they've never encountered another empire like their own,so constantly expanding their armies is way of preparing for when they do
have a listen and have a link to my discord serverThe Diamonds made their empire to be a certain way even as it gets bigger. A deeper understanding of their motive would require knowing how the eldest of them was made, which is likely to remain unknown.

We've already seen other aliens, though none were sapient.
My best guess is that gems haven't been existentially threatened by another race, their military is for the case that they do, internal security, and for the small scale threats they do face. All gems specialize in something, so they're not just gonna have whoever's closest deal with elephants/Assyrians/crab people vandalizing the Galaxy Warp or whatever.
What fraction of their resources the Diamonds initially considered worth military spending was probably first informed by their origins, which we again don't know. Having a military this big hasn't backfired yet (Rose wasn't really a quartz, and recruited civilians as well), so why would they change it?
The Gems' constant conquering is a bit odd, yeah.
They don't appear to have any enemies, so they're not bolstering their forces to protect themselves.
But at the same time, Gem culture and society prides the life of their own people only for the roles they play in the mechanism of their comfortable society. Their people are immortal and the culture sees no reason to create life beyond that, and since all Gem reproduction is handled by the state they shouldn't really have an overpopulation problem.
I mean they do have an overpopulation problem, explicitly, but it's not entirely clear why: they're acting like humans without the reasons humans act that way. They're fixated on conquering new lands and creating more of themselves for the sake of it, or at least for reasons that aren't really evident - it's one of the reasons that for all they're slowly getting more sympathetic the Diamonds still remind me of Palpatine.
Rose didn't need a particular reason to create Steven. White Diamond (or who/whatever made her) may just have the same mentality, but without any empathy for other forms of life or her own subjects.
Someone said earlier that it seems like White did something similar to Father in FMA, and made the other Diamonds by cutting out some aspect of her personality.
I'm starting to think that is looking more likely.
Also, I'm thinking that clip of Blue lashing out at Steven is caused by him trying to make Blue realize that either Pink wasn't always as happy as they thought, or that he really is something separate from Pink and she isn't coming back.
Regardless of your opinion of the last American election, we can all agree on one thing- The Chinese Communist Party can choke on scrotes! Also the A.I.s from Red Vs Blue. They had this one AI, but weren't totally sure they could make another, so they cut the one they did have into smaller pieces and downloaded them to different places.
In fairness, that was only one of the reasons Alpha (aforesaid AI) was fragmented. And he did not have any say in the matter.
Where as Father intentionally created each of his Homunculus children with a purpose.
Actually, when Greed went rogue because he didn't want to play along he pretty much did the same as the Crystal Gems after the war, laid low and collected a following of the victims of Father's experiments. The Homunculi did even pay him any attention until he accidentally jeopardized part of the plan. Then they made a point of capturing and "reeducating" him.

First of all, what I meant was the possibility of the Diamonds losing all and every reason to attack the Earth and to have Steven within their sights, which, from what i understand, are the only real reasons for why the CG would want to do battle with them. I believe that it has already been established that unless the Diamonds have the Earth in their sights, the CG could care less about them ruling over Homeworld, their only concerns are both the Earth and Steven.
Secondly, with the way that this show tends to roll with such concepts, is it really out of the question for Steven to try and pull another “You both love me and I love both of you” between the CG and the Diamonds, particularly between Garnet and Blue Diamond, since, once again, that is the common ground between the two sides of the fence? Just saying
The main obsticle to that is getting the Diamonds to see the C Gs as anything besides a collection of defective servants.
I take that back, the first step is to get the Diamonds to accept the idea that gems being other then what they were made for aren't defective and should be culled. Eventually, maybe Steven will even be able to work up to the idea that intelligent non-gems are something other than a source of target practice/pets/amusing tricks.

Regardless of your opinion of the last American election, we can all agree on one thing- The Chinese Communist Party can choke on scrotes!Random little out-of-nowhere-thought-not-to-be-taken-too-seriously: The running theory right now from the previews is is that White Diamond has mind control powers and is using them on Yellow and Blue and White Pearl. What if it's the other way around, and White Pearl is the one pulling the strings? What if she was the first true devotee of Pink Diamond, but not having the same ideas as Rose Quartz, simply decided to upend things.
Wouldn't it be a shock to the status quo to learn that for however many millenia the Gem empire was run by a Pearl?
Maybe. I'll wait and see how this current arc pans out first. When I do fics I generally follow a rule of "bend the canon, don't break it", so for an AU idea I'd at least consider the Stations Of The Canon
I'd also considered the possibility of White Pearl as an Apparently Powerless Puppetmaster (either from White Diamond's attempt to control her backfiring, or dying with Pearl pretending she's still alive), and concluded explaining "But why?" would reverse what little we know about either character, thus be kind of pointless.
My theory is that the person Steven ends up contacting unknowingly in Escapism will be White Pearl. He will reach whatever aspect of Pink Pearl is still left in there and wake her up. And perhaps she brings the CG gems. Somehow they avoid getting shattered by Blue and Yellow while Steven and Connie are locked up.
-Witty line-

See, my guess while watching the promo is that Steven somehow manages to push the tensions between the Diamonds to the breaking point, and while none are on his side, they're also angry enough at each other to fight, which gives Steven some leeway to escape.
