Ah yes, Sugilite, who was rightfully angry at being left behind and having to walk all the way back, and whose rashness and recklessness led to her to violently lash out at Pearl, who left her there because of her own jealousy and insecurities.
These two space rocks are obviously stand-ins for white and black stereotypes, totally.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢While i don't agree with most (if not nearly everything) that Lily Peet said in her video and find it mean spirited and uncalled for (better watch Robuddies video on the subject, at least she never called Rebecca Sugar a bad person, let alone Nazi apologist and in one of her streams she even criticize Lily Peet because of this), i don't really get how is being irredeemable automatically means being one-dimensional. Character can be irredeemable while also being quite complex.
The part that makes them irredeemable is usually what makes them complex...
Obviously is not always the case...sometimes a writer avoids revealing much behind a villain so they won't get unnecessary sympathy.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. Also, maybe it's me, but it seems that the show is still very strongly emphasizing that the Diamonds might have their sympathetic sides, but they are collectively very much in the wrong - even Pink Diamond, although a good chunk of her issues were Didn't Think This Through once the scales fell from her eyes. Putting aside questions of whether the Diamonds would be a collective Karma Houdini should they get redeemed, Steven Universe has never been shy at pointing out that they're doing the wrong thing.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.According to Deedee Magno Hall a lot of Pearl’s quirks and such were her own that she added to the character so I think in this it absolutely matters who the voice actor is

Forever liveblogging the AvengersThat...doesn't have anything to do with the race of the VA.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I just want to clarify one thing. Lily Peet didn't actually say that Rebecca Sugar was a Nazi apologist or a fascist sympathizer; in fact, she explicitly says otherwise around the 1 hour and 52 minute mark:
"Do I think Rebecca Sugar is a fascist sympathizer? No. Do I blame or begrudge anyone who comes to the conclusion that she is based on Steven Universe's content? No."
"I remain that Rebecca Sugar remains completely unaware of the implications of her writing because she's just not paying attention outside of her very specific goals."
"I think that the core problem is that, like many adult cartoon fans, Sugar is just profoundly fucking stupid."
(I didn't watch the whole thing because ain't nobody got time for that, but I learned about this part via one of the deviants I watch.)
Do I agree with her? No. Just because the Diamonds are written as complex, and just because the Crystal Gems are teaming up with them out of necessity, doesn't mean that she's setting them up for redemption. But to say that she called Sugar a Nazi or a Nazi sympathizer is flat-out untrue.
No beer?! But if there's no beer, then there's no beef or beans!^^I mean, it sounds like she "explicitly says otherwise" by instead stating that said Jewish woman is just too dumb to realize she's written Nazi characters and made them sympathetic. Which isn't really better, at all.
Is there a reason we're still discussing this video? The sheer fact that it's a two-hour video called 'Steven Universe is fucking garbage' really says all I think anyone needs to know.

It's been fun.The same reason people would make a 2 hour video praising a kids show...presumably.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Constructive criticism is also that...when not ranting.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. That vid pops up in my Youtube feed occasionally. Never bothered to click on it because it looked like a hot mess of fucking garbage and I didn't want to dignify it with a view. I tend to be more wary these days since I've been fooled before into giving a view to garbage people — I usually realize I screwed up when I hear them say "SJW" unironically.
Disgusted, but not surprised
I’m not proud of it, but I did go through an anti-SJW phase a few years ago. I guess I was disillusioned by the way so many of them seemed to preach hate and promote harassing people for minor slip-ups (at worst). Hell, I still remember one person infamously claiming that men shouldn’t be allowed to watch SU and that the show is only for women and N Bs (which, y’know, sounds an awful lot like gatekeeping to me).
I’ve since learned that those people are easy to avoid and we have far bigger problems on our hands, especially with a head of state whose rhetoric empowers white supremacists and neo-nazis.
No beer?! But if there's no beer, then there's no beef or beans!Alt-right assholes have managed to make the word "liberal" into a word that means "don't watch this video, it's full of garbage". It's a shame since liberal is a perfectly good word that I use to describe myself, but I always feel dirty doing it because alt-right assholes use it (and all other words related to the left) as slurs.
Like, if I see a youtube video that has any media property or franchise and "liberal" together in the title, it's almost always some idiot ranting about why SJ Ws are ruining real men and America with their progressive tv shows, or some bullshit like that. I feel like most left-wing Youtubers just make normal content because they're normal people and not psychos, so they don't feel the need to broadcast their political affiliations in every video title they make.
To me, the Creator Bashing goes a long way towards undermining any legitimate criticisms. A policy I've taken to of late is of someone's primary, if not sole, reason to talk about something I like is to shit on it, I have neither desire nor obligation to pay attention to anything they say or give it any weight. Whatever genuine points might exist aren't with mucking through the vitriol.

Agreed. Maybe this video creator does have some good points, but it sounds like they've taken great care to space them out with a bunch of ranting and rudeness in the meantime.
Edit: Also, I totally basically repeated everyone else who's already commented, including myself, just because I wanted post #57,000.
