I always thought that the "gross" part of humanity for gems was our bodily functions (which, I guess, pores would count as). That said, my in-series touchstone for that is Pearl, since she's the one who's had the most "ew, humans" reactions and that (particularly eating) is usually the point she brings up.
I guess, logically, it could be a host of factors - they all probably register as "unnatural" to gems, but which one bothers them the most may vary from individual to individual.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. She probsly should've made a stomach the first time she tried eating.
Maybe then she wouldn't have felt it inside her, moving around, and stuff.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. To be fair, since excretion is a metabolic process too, and we're not exactly clear on just how much Lars' processes have been changed (including the possibility that they've been made more efficient... what if Lars literally can process 100% of what he eats now?), maybe it literally hasn't come up yet. Or gone down, as the case may be.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. But it does have people who'd have no idea what he's doing, hence why I figured things got "really awkward".
(I wonder if we'll ever find if Pink L&L need air or sleep.)

"Jungle Moon" did not get the Emmy for Short Form Animated Program, but a member of the staff, background painter Patrick Bryson, got an individual achievement award
.
Well, true, Lion can eat just fine (and for that matter, we already established that Lars can - he might not be particularly interested in doing so at the moment, but he still can), and excretion hasn't been mentioned as a problem (or, for that matter, an issue - I don't think it's come up at all in the series except for jokes about the other Crystal Gems making Steven go to the bathroom outside). This is one of those MST3K Mantra issues, I think.
As for Lars theoretically getting larger if his digestion is 100% efficient... yes, that would follow if normal physics are being observed (seeing as I don't think he's converting all matter into energy via relativistic principles), although that would be potentially mitigated by the possibility that he simply hasn't eaten much (or anything) during his adventures as Captain Lars. Of course, if magic is brought into play (and given he's Back from the Dead with a extradimensional passage in his hair it seems safe to say that it is in play), that's the point in which we shrug and roll with it.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. Why are you saying that?
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Pearl and Amethyst also snot...which is super duper duper duper super duper gross.
Amethyst: Just pee in the ocean bro, like a feeesh.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. It's not implied...
Pearl says "...then it comes out of you?! What a completely horrid experience."
Then the truth happens.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Seems to me, trying to get White Diamond to chip in on curing corruption could go two ways: The goal is convincing her to do it, or she agrees to it fairly easily, but the goal then becomes convincing her to let Steven keep living on Earth.
Either way, I'm speculating Connie will have a large part in it—either talking to White Diamond directly, or (in the likely event White ignores Connie or lets her nowhere near her) just advising Steven on what kind of argument to make. (Although now I'm wondering how White would react to Stevonnie's existence.)
Part of it is that I think gems don't digest. Which would imply that gems "excrete" exactly what they put in. Amethyst eats a pizza; she then excretes a mashed-up pizza.
We are officially in "thinking too much about this" territory.
As for White Diamond... hrm... I feel like the narrative arc of the show is such that she's eventually going to come around, but I have no idea just how that's going to happen.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. In more staff news, Maya Petersen was recently promoted from storyboard revisionist to storyboard artist
. If you've kept up on the podcast, she was a guest two times, both about a year ago. She's board partners with the other recent addition, Etienne Guignard, and they just completed their first board pitch
.
If they're still pitching episodes now, the show's definitely going to have a sixth season. The real question is if there was some kind of production hiatus between season five, the movie, and season six.

I think it also works from an aesthetic standpoint. I can kind of understand why Homeworld Gems would think Humans look gross if Gems have spotless and smooth skin, like an untextured 3D model, while Human skin is full of tiny holes and spots and hairs.
