Anyone else been reading the various SU comics? I've been binging the last two days and managed to read everything but the last four issues of the "main" title.
Harmony is weird: it's the first comic to take place after the season four finale, has a really different artstyle
◊ (even compared to the billion different artists that make all the others), and nonchalantly shows a minor scene of Aquamarine and Topaz. That said, the first issues is pretty good—probably one of my favorites.
It's crazy how far in advance they announce the graphics novels—Too Cool for School was announced ten months before it came out.
And I'll point out Camp Pining Play is still likely set before the end of season four, because it says Lars is one of the people putting on the play. Unless the cover is basically lying and Lars' involvement is just writing the fanfic the play's based on (and would be in-line with Lars mentioning he didn't know Peridot, not that that's important).
The comics try hard to be consistent with the show, so they pretty much only show characters Steven can regularly contact. Even then, there's a big delay before—Lapis and Peridot didn't show up in the comics until a year after Peridot joined the Crystal Gems. Makes me wonder if we'll ever see the Off Colors.
It makes me think of some particular (web)comic I read recently (especially the way Sadie's hair is drawn) but can't quite put my finger on.

In a cowardly move, apparently religion doesn't exist in the Steven Universe... Universe.
My various fanfics.Who's watching a cartoon for religious references?
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.yeah like gosh, I cannot believe that the staff of this show that strives to push against regressive social norms on issues of sexuality, gender expression, and the value and validity self-determination of one's identity at the same time it is acknowledging and confronting the realities of trauma, mental health, and importance of proactive self-care and self-love in a world hostile to all of that are so utterly craven as to not also jam their hands in the whirling blender of religion. How cowardly.
I don't think it's a cowardly move (particularly as it's more of a background detail than anything else, just as much as the existence of religion is a background detail in most cartoons). It is one that would provoke Fridge Logic if it were made prominent within the show (the development of religion is a ridiculously prominent part of human history, after all), but it's mostly a background curio as things currently stand. I apply the MST3K Mantra to the question overall.
I have briefly toyed with the idea of creating a possible Alternate History for the world of SU, but Butterfly of Doom is hard enough to properly hash out when, for example, you're cherry-picking one event from 100 years ago to go differently. The global upheaval several centuries ago from an alien race coming to terraform and kidnap, then overthrown by what would be an Enemy Civil War from humanity's perspective is such a large collection of radically different events that I honestly wouldn't have time to do justice to such an idea (unless someone seriously wants to pay me to do such an undertaking, and I feel pretty confident in saying that nobody does).
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.

For a long time, I've thought the hands in the mural were foreshadowing the gem mutants and The Cluster.
I think that's really the only purpose to the mural was foreshadowing stuff. I don't think it's supposed to make any sense outside of that context.
