'Would anyone be willing to summarize the contents of the video? I don’t really want to give it views.'

Basically the author is annoyed with the tomie episodes. In her opinion they don't really add anything to the show. The characters that are featured aren't interesting enough to justify the attention being given to them and she feel the time would have been better spent on characters she feels the show neglected (she used lapis as a example).

The hiatus makes things worse since that made the lighter episodes feel even more unnecessary.

She blames these problems on the fact that the story is told though the eyes of Steven.Saying that if the show presented in a more third person perspective there would have been chances to develop other characters.

Maybe the problem really is Steven...

The characters aren't interest to him, he sees their problems as so easy...he pretty much tells them how to fix it.

I mean, yeah, Steven tends to see personal problems as ones with simple solutions, but that's because Steven is an extrovert, an empath, and easily the sweetest person in Beach City. But the thing is, it's not always as simple as he sees it, and he's often wrong about the easiest way to fix things. Taking Steven out of the equation and making the townie episodes strictly about the townies would make them truly pointless, because all of a sudden we're not seeing more of Steven and how he deals with situations, we're just watching Lars be a coward again.

That would force them to spruce up the formula faster...interesting character combos are an option for a series like this. When just having Steven around just limits both that and the potential.

While that is true, if the complaint about the townie episodes isn't that they're not interesting, but that they don't do anything for the overarching plot, removing Steven is not the fix for that complaint.

It's been fun.

My issue with the townie episodes is not that I don't think that they add anything to the show, but that I don't find many of the townie characters interesting, or worse.

That said, the show can make use of characters I don't care or don't like in good ways. E.g. all the jokes at Ronaldo's expense. In particular, I was genuinely worried for him the time he lost his girlfriend due to a misunderstanding: I could only get that off my mind after I discovered he mentioned they made up in his tumblr. That the show can take these characters and make me care about them implies good writing in my opinion.

Maybe it'll turn out Onion actually is an alien, and we'll get some kind of payoff for having to endure him.

I'm indifferent to Onion. I can understand why people dislike him but I mostly find his episodes inoffensive.

I don't think Onion will be revealed to be an alien. I do think his episodes are sorta about Steven growing to accept and understand interacting with a different sort of mindset.

The potential problem with the townie episodes is that they usually follow a big gem reveal or cliffhanger where you are waiting for a follow-up and instead get something that doesn't address it. And since the show is from Steven's perspective, if he doesn't ask, it gets skipped over at the time.

Take the follow-up after the Wanted event. Steven goes to Homeworld, its the first time he and the viewer sees Homeworld, Pink's shattering story is proven to have several holes and falsehoods, Lars dies and returns as a Lion portal and Steven befriends several outcast gens who want to move to earth. And what's the main plot after this? Connie being angry at Steven for his sacrifice actions and not speaking to each other. Nothing about Pink. A major plot point push aside until later. However, at least the gems tried to discuss it in Gemcation but Steven was more focused on Connie which meant that was the driving plot.

The show has pacing issues, hiatus or not. The Sardonyx issue was stretched over five episodes, but Yellow and Blue discover Pink Steven, corruption, fly to Homeworld and White Diamond introduced in one episode? Or about Pink's reveal where ironically they didn't do character focus episodes as much as Sardonyx's event, spending more time on Ruby and Sapphire.

Its giving Adventure Time plot vibes. Here's a cliffhanger/reveal concerning character X in season 2. Enjoy waiting for a continuation in season 5 which will just raise more questions to be answered in season 8.

That's not nearly the same...since the continuation of the plot tends to revolve soley around Steven.

It annoys people for a different reason.

At least when actual reveals happen around Finn, they are usually focused on...rather soon.

I've binge watched long batches of episodes and never felt pacing issues.

Those are largely the result of CN's erratic airing.

The complain about Lapis redemption being skipped? It wasn't, she was avoiding dealing with stuff and that led to her leaving Earth.

The set up with Pink's shattering? A five episode detour where Steven dealt with personal stuff while thinking about it at moments and then suddenly the reveal and the fallout happened.

Same with the "Diamond Redemption" currently. It's just been set up.

Blue and Yellow are on Steven's side because the reveal lifted a a weight from their shoulders. But they still don't really sympathize with the C Gs or Earth, nor they truly grasp what Steven is and what Pink did.

And White has just been introduced and is already an insurmountable wall that probably will take a long time to climb over.

Yellow and Blue's arcs are not done yet. They'll run with Steven's in his attempt to find the fix to the corruption.

My own suspicion is that Steven will only end up getting one of the Diamonds fully on his side when inevitably things turn sour with White. Blue would be the obvious choice, but I could see her being too afraid of White Diamond to defy her, even for "Pink's" sake; her interactions with Yellow cast her as something of a doormat when it comes to the other Diamonds. Yellow in contrast is generally more assertive and action oriented than Blue, and while she dismissed Peridot's appeal at at logical appeal out of hand, I think she'd react more positively to a similarly formulated argument coming from a fellow Diamond.

Also, while we generally assume Blue and Yellow are equally old, something about the dynamic between the Diamonds makes me wonder if she might be the "Middle Child" of the bunch; Yellow seemed to think she'd be the best person to break the news to White, and her design seems to share the most with White's out of the chromatic Diamonds, and personality wise I have to wonder if her attempts to repress her emotions and appear cold and detached are in an effort to emulate White's example. If that's the case it kind of casts her as the eldest, most dependable child (and indeed, while Blue Diamond was off moping and Pink Diamond was hiding on Earth Yellow was the only one still carrying out her duties on Homeworld) in contrast to Blue, who I suspect may have ended up with Middle Child Syndrome considering how apprehensive about speaking with White Diamond she seems to be.

It has occurred to me that we're probably going to see plenty of Peridots running around now that they're on Homeworld, but I wonder if we'll see other lapis lazulis,I can just them meeting a Lapis and Peridot and being really confused for a moment

I finally remembered what Pink Diamond's eyelashes remind me of: it's the same way eyelashes are drawn in DuckTales (2017).

If White Pearl really is mentally connected to White Diamond like people suspect, I wonder whether she became that way or was created like that.

For context, that screenshot is from "Your Mother and Mine": When the Diamonds were charging their attack, their lights were about the same size, but then there's a Distant Reaction Shot where Blue and Yellow's lights are small and only briefly visible before being swallowed up by White.
