Yeah, it seems like Pearls are more or less Blank Slates and only develop personalities of their own if their masters allow it. The Pearls we've seen so far seem to be reflections of their masters in some ways. They become what their masters need or want them to be. White Pearl takes it so far that she's effectively an avatar of White Diamond and even shares her voice.

Disgusted, but not surprisedRandom thoughts:
Blue and Yellow are obviously weary of White Diamond but they still speak familiarly of her. It's still just "White" and not "White Diamond"; it might have been a nice touch if they added the Diamond.
All of the Diamonds have diamond shaped pupils. I wonder if during a big moment or awakening or something, Steven's pupils will change shape.
As one example I doubt Yellow Diamond taught her Pearl to make smug faces through the communicator when she isn't looking.

How much of a personality they develop I think depends on how much autonomy their masters allow as well. The result is a Pearl who is well-suited to serving their master while still having some personality quirks of their own. In Yellow Pearl's case, the result is a Sassy Secretary (appropriate for someone like Yellow Diamond who is usually all business).
White Pearl? It's possible that White Diamond was such a Control Freak that she never let her Pearl develop any personality.

what about the times we've seen Connie's eyes change into the diamonds its clearly forshadowing white doing something
joking,but this explains it best
I woudne't put mind control or People Puppettry past White Diamond. She does give of an affinity of the Light elemental in a show with effectively Green Lantern rings that wield themselves. Seems to be the top of the hierarchy and the gems do exhibit Personality Powers, which means that with what we know of her so far, control of others is right up White Diamond's alley.
Stevonnie taking up the role of Pink Diamond, hmm...seems like something for a Distant Finale.

Maybe Pearls are suppose to sound like their owners, ever thought of that?

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. So saturating images of White Pearl makes her look Pink...

She looks lobotomized, and maybe just a mouthpiece for White Diamond. Maybe she really has nothing in her head.
I don't get how you do that to a Gem without damaging their gem itself but hey, Bizarre Alien Biology.
Oissu!White's supposed to have a terrible temper, so maybe her Pearl said just the wrong thing at just the right time. Diamonds can repair gems, so she could have kept Pearls gem from shattering, lobotomised her and left the cracks as an objest lesson to others.
Your momma's so dumb she thinks oral sex means talking dirty.New podcast is up
covers 'Heart of the Crystal Gems'
My guess is that White Diamond has power over light and since Gem bodies are Hard Light projections...
Disgusted, but not surprisedI imagine White will not be won over as easily as Yellow and Blue ("easily"). Mostly because we still need a villain, but also because she clearly doesn't give a single shit what Pink thinks or cares about. At least when Yellow and Blue didn't listen to Steven it was because they were upset that Pink was dead.
It's been fun.Bismuth recognized a lot of them in the Bubble chamber, so my thought is that most of them were probably either added to the Cluster or simply left to mutate out in the fields. Going off descriptions for "Legs From Here To Homeworld", it sounds like even the three lower Diamonds together don't have the oomph to fix it completely, though.
It's been fun.Even if Steven does manage to get White to listen to him, it's likely she won't give a shit about the Corrupted Gems anyway, at least at first.
In other news, Save the Light is coming to Steam!

The explanation for the colors bit is that WP is damaged because IRL bleaching screws up the integrity of a lot of things IRL. IF WP was bleached it could account for the damage she clearly has, but is not (visibly) present in her Gem.
IDK though. While the Open Book parallels are interesting, even if our Pearl was dyed, I don't understand why she would be dyed three different colors instead of simply pink. Seems it would be much easier to just do that.
