I subscribe to the theory that she used to be Pink Pearl but was eventually brainwashed/mindwiped by White Diamond after being traded for the original White Pearl aka our Pearl.
Take a good look at White Pearl's "scars"
◊. Particularly how they spread off her face and into her hair.
Those aren't just scratches, her head is cracking like an egg. She also doesn't have an eye socket, which makes her remaining eye look painted on. It seems like she's almost literally a porcelain doll come to life (but just barely).

She is the 2nd best design to come out of this show.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. We'll wait until the 1st movie for that.
But the answer is: Blue Pearl
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. On the subject of White Diamond's design: the specific influence Sugar mentioned at SDCC was Nell Brinkley. The visible parts of her face do indeed look like that of a Brinkley Girl.
A bit of a tangent from the more serious parts of the last episodes, but I imagine Rose probably took Bismuth to a lion's den in the past XD
Creator of Heroes of Thantopolis: http://heroesofthantopolis.com/The one thing I keep coming back to is, in a design sense, how much White Pearl reminds me of Sardonyx. Yes, I know that there are several obvious points of departure in designs between the two, but I see plenty of echoes between the two styles. This has me leaning towards the "White Pearl was originally Pink Diamond's Pearl, our Pearl was originally White Diamond's Pearl, and the two Diamonds swapped for some reason." Maybe the appearance of White Pearl is how White Diamond wants her Pearl to look, and how Crystal Gem Pearl originally looked. And Sardonyx has resonance with that original look, similar to how Rainbow Quartz resembles Pink Diamond more than Rose Quartz. Similarly, this might explain Opal being en pointe at all times (even when doing heavy lifting, like when they moved the drill for the craft to reach The Cluster).
Eh, I'm sure someone can shoot all that down pretty easily, but I can't just shake it in my head.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.![]()
The only similarity I see between them is that they both wear black, and I think that's just because of White Diamond's color scheme. The actual clothes White's Pearl wears, the leotard, the tights, the frills, the ballerina shoes, the diamond shaped clothes window, all look like they're carried over more from Blue Pearl and Yellow Pearl's designs.

I have to admit that the one thing that stood out to me about White Pearl after everything else are the Leia buns. Blue and Yellow's Pearls hairstyles don't match up perfectly with their Diamonds, but they're a lot closer than White's, who in no way resembles WD's sun-hair (well, it's not really hair I don't think, but you get my point). It might not be of too much consequence but it's another thing on top of all the other stuff that feels off about her.
Best theory I've seen about WP being Pinks originally is that Pearls are made to obey without question their master. Literally programmed into them.
Pink could have given WP an order that contradicted her very being and broke her ala the Room of hers where Steven gave it orders not to obey him caused Room!Connie to snap.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.I think Pink was created relatively recently as of the time of the Jungle Moon flashback; she was likely intended to eventually get her own colony, but only after she was considered mature and experienced enough. But she begged and begged so much Yellow (and Blue?) gave in.
I'd imagine that when Yellow and Blue were new, they followed White around like Pink did the former two.
Well, didn't Peridot mention being a certified Kindergartener? Meaning she had to prove her skills and get certified, presumably. Like how you can learn how to do you job at school/training, but experience makes your learn how to apply it better. Gems just skip most of the school part.
And running a colony is a massive undertaking that I doubt a bit of ingrained knowledge would prepare them for.
