Between Ruby saying she wanted to be a cowboy and showing up in the "XS" outfit, I get the feeling Greg had to tell her "No, Ruby, I am not buying you a gun."
It's been pointed out it wouldn't necessitate a huge change to Garnet's screentime, as all the Crystal Gems have had long strings of absence (or near-absence) since about season three.

This episode does imply that Ruby, at least, is interested in trying out life as two of them (though still together) more rather than being Garnet all the time, and I hope that's something that gets play. Seeing Ruby and Sapphire interact with the greater cast is something I've been hoping for for a while.

I really like Ruby's rationale to get married: to "Be together, even when we're apart." (That she was gonna proposed was given away by the episode titles, and probably would have been obvious going in blind, so the "why" was what I paying attention to.)
Like much of this arc, this episode was apparently a long time coming

I think Rebecca Sugar at one point said that Garnet made a promise to Rose never to ask questions about anything. I was hoping that would be elaborated on here, but while they mentioned Rose saying never to question "Garnet" and Sapphire saying she never chose to use her future vision on Rose, they still haven't gone into detail about why Garnet is incapable of asking any questions, ever.
Now I'm kinda intrested in reading Lonesome Lasso. The Western comics I've read are usually gritty and kinda depressing in their subjects. But the story of a lone gunman finding love and ending with a marriage. I kinda want that. My sappy heart needs it.
Also, count me in for hoping we see more of Ruby and Sapphire as separate characters in the future. I've always been a bit uncomfortable about how co-dependent both of them are.
@Black Yakuzu 94: I actually wouldn't mind that too much because I kind of feel that at times it feels like Garnet is a co-dependent relationship, even though I don't think that's the intention.

"My Diamond, one of your Gems is getting married"
"Really,who?"
"A..Ruby..and a Sapphire"
"We'll just see about that!"
