Wasn't she always the "de facto"...?

She's not even saying it while she's teleporting, she's saying it while she's 3 ft. away.
Can't help but think it was directed that way for the ad.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. The calling of this as filler makes even less sense than usual in this case, because it's both the culmination of the major arc of one of the series' major characters (Amethyst), and it's the establishment of the main character's (Steven's) state of mind going forward after the latest crushing reveal. And it arguably marks a maturity shift in the series as a whole, given that this episode specifically takes to task and defies the kind of emotional gut punches the show has been relying on since the beginning. This is important stuff, or at least about as far from what filler is as you can get, and it's content that this series has always made sure to have after big moments: these reaction episodes are how the show moves its characters forward.
This feels again like people just using "filler" as a buzz word to mean "I personally wanted the episode to be about something else, ergo it's useless," as tends to be the case with this show.

That used to be such a thing, but it doesn't really apply to SU...much.
Considering the amount of episodes where the CGs aren't even in them.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Garnet is in a interesting spot in that while she is one of the primary characters of the series, she's also the leader and the most capable member of the Gems whom everyone relies on to guide them through: losing her for a while would be a perfect beginning to an extended Darkest Hour storyline. Pearl freaking out about the possibility of not having Garnet any more is very apt.
In fact, I've been wondering if they're going to be evil about this story, and have the big attack from the Diamonds happen during Ruby and Sapphire's reunion / wedding, followed by one of them being taken or injured after/during the Alexandrite battle, resulting into the rest of the Gems being forced to handle the major problems about to arise without Garnet.
When Garnet inevitably comes back, she'll have an inexplicable new love of dipping into a Western accent at random.
I love how Ruby is exuberant about everything. The way she's animated is really bouncy: she doesn't ever walk, she runs. Usually, she jumps. Leaps. Flips. She never does anything simply. It's really fun to watch.

Does this episode make Amethyst into Jake...?
Her part/development in this episode is really similar to Jake's development in a "recent-ish" AT episode.
Except she was way more aggressive about it.
