Filler + Cliffhanger = ???
I will always love Amethyst's slow progression from being the least mature member of the C Gs to ironcally the most mature.
GUNDAMU GUNDAMU![]()
It's probably because this mini-arc is about reacting to this revelation about Rose, but Peridot never knew her. I mean, she'll probably have some kind of reaction later, but a much less personal one.
Though I am curious where she's been after training with the other Crystal Gems what was probably the previous day. Has she been in the bathroom the whole time, or does she actually have a... (dramatic pause) social life?

Her primary arc at the moment is centered around a character who has currently noped out of the solar system, and while Peridot has a lot of development and a very strong personality her role in the character dynamic is still not conpletely ingrained into the main group.
Add that to this season being primarily centered around changes within the core group, and her lack of a recent presence becomes a lot more clear. This season has very much been about the main four plus Connie.
That said, I semi-expect an episode this week to have either Ruby or Sapphire interacting with Peridot. Probably Ruby, since though she and Sapphire are arguably more alike, she can relate to what Ruby’s going through.
Anywho, I like both how self referential the concept of this episode is, and how this result makes perfect sense for Amethyst’s character - especially given her development in the last few episodes. She’s decided not to dwell on her feelings or take them out on others any more, and she means it.

The reason Peridot's perspective is something I'm curious about is less about how Rose and everyone else's reactions to the news effects her and more about how Steven being a Diamond effects her. Is she going to regress to Diamond worshipping again after hearing the news? Will it make her question how much her choices mattered since a Diamond ended up being the reason she made a lot of her choices anyway?

I'm starting to think that idea of Peridot having an episode with Ruby (or at least an episode in general) this week might actually hold water after all. Not just because they have a similar situation to bond over, but because I wouldn't put it past them to actually have Ruby become a cowboy this week by way of briefly moving to the farm and trying to find herself there or something.
Plus I've been hearing that the writers were playing around with the fans with some kind of "BINGO" sheet for the week. One of the options was "green Diamond," and from the moment I heard it I figured the punchline to that hint would be something to do with Peridot being overdramatic.
Not the writers, Cartoon Network.
Finally got to watch the episode. My power went out at 7:29 and didn't come back on until around 2:50. And then I spent an hour with the air on.
Also, and pardon my language, but fuck anyone who says this episode is filler. I will literally fight you.
Ahem. Anyway, that scene with Pearl and Sapphire crying into each other's arms is Steven Universe in a nutshell.
Pearl just breaking down when she realizes Garnet might not come back is just so sad.
Probably for the best that Sapphire stopped after seeing Ruby being a cowboy, or else she would've saw the wedding and the Diamonds attacking, and that would've just raised more questions and panic.
YES! Finally, finally someone tells Steven he doesn't need to deal with what Rose left behind! I have been waiting for this for so long, thank you Amethyst!
I love her so much.
We're getting the first song tomorrow! Get ready!
Edit: oop, forgot to mention, the voice acting has been on point with these episodes!

I've been saying that for years, man.
Okay, that's Actually Pretty Funny.

Amethyst's reaction logically wasn't going to be as huge, as she didn't have the same horse in this race as Garnet, but it's still important. Also, we got an aerial feelings fight (with some hilarious Villeco faces).
