To clarify, I don't think that Lapis would or could just easily fight of Blue and Yellow (or their forces) by herself, but the way the question was framed implied to me, that's was what was being suggested.
But in the unlikely hypothetical event something like that did happen, yeah, it would be lame.
Lapis Lazuli is kind of like Scarlet Witch. She's an extremely powerful Squishy Wizard and Glass Cannon. Her job is to terraform landscape, yet there's no doubt in my mind that Pearl could easily dominate her in single combat. She might be able to destroy a Diamond Hand ship, but a solid punch from any of the Diamond's footsoldiers could poof her in one shot.
Besides, what would it do for him? Though I get that fusions are supposed to be a "greater than the sum of its parts" thing, Greg and Sadie are just Puny Humans. Connie at least has her training in swordsmanship to complement Steven's wide array of Diamond-level Gem powers.
By that logic, he shouldn't have Fused with Connie in "Alone Together" because he hadn't Fused with any of the Gems yet.
Two words: "Island Adventure". She'd need training, sure, but she does have skill.

Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢No. Connie and Steven's relationship makes sense for fusion. They love each other and trust each other implicitly. There are logical barriers for the others that need actual character development to overcome. Greg, for instance, supports Steven, but talks and acts in a way that makes him feel less human.
Ohh, okay. Why didn't you just say so?
Moving on from Steven Fusing with humans for a bit, I noticed Alexandrite looks different compared to her appearance in "I Am My Mom" - specifically, her top gloves are purple instead of green, her middle gloves are reddish-brown instead of purple, the white part of her top is notched different, and her star patches are light purple instead of green (they also look like five point stars instead of four point stars, though that could just be the way her legs are positioned).
I'm assuming either A) Ruby and/or Sapphire reform at some point, or B) Ruby and Sapphire Fuse with Pearl and Amethyst instead of Garnet, creating an Alexandrite with some slight differences compared to the Garnet/Amethyst/Pearl Alexandrite.

Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢I don't really need Steven to fuse with any other humans (I don't even need him to fuse with any of the Crystal Gems) but arguing no combat experience is a poor reason. The first time Steven and Connie fused was before she started her training with Pearl, if I'm remembering correctly.
Also, when has Greg made Steven "feel less human" and where is it implied that this is a reoccurring problem? Because that sure sounds out of nowhere to me. If there's a problem, it's always been people, including Steven, trying to keep Greg out of that part of Steven's life.
