I don't think Lars does want to change.

"Stuck Together" and "Off Colors" would say otherwise.

...he's quick enough to fall back into his old douchebaggery the moment he's given a link to his old social life.

And yet he opened up a lot faster about why than he would have before.

Lars’ development is slow and awkward...but that is arguably pretty realistic.

Well, the way he dropped off the face of the Earth for a season-and-a-half was awkward in a not-realistic way.

I still wonder to what degree that was a deliberate writing choice, an unconscious writing choice, or some kind of availability issue with his voice actor.

You're referring to what with his absence...?

In the first season, Lars had occasional major roles, and frequent minor roles. In the second and third (production-wise), he had a one major role and didn't have a single line in any other episode.

The same happened to a lesser degree with Sadie—she was only in two episodes of season two, and three of season three.

Interesting little detail: songs on Wednesday and Friday. Maybe a Ruby and/or Sapphire solo song?

Ohhhh shit, this is gonna be interesting! But gosh, poor Sapphire and Ruby!

Also yes, I feel like the two songs will be solos for Sapphire and Ruby.

When we're done, there won't be anything left.

Not sure if I should spoiler tag this but one of the pictures has Sapphire and Steven at what looks like Rose's fountain

There goes my theory that Sapphire had run away to funland to beat her high score at Meat Beat mania!

Interesting, Ruby and Sapphire could benefit from this kind of individualized development.

[up]Agreed. I've always found it a bit weird how their relationship is portrayed with little focus on them as individuals.

Edit: Edited because I realized the way I described it wasn't the best.

I don't get how it would be codependent and unhealthy in something else though,it's a complaint I've definitely heard before

Ruby and Sapphire are depicted as almost unable to function without each other and unable to concentrate on anything but one another when they're unfused. Maybe not a huge problem when they spend most of their time as one being anyway, but it's not a dynamic I think would be very healthy in a real-life relationship.

I feel like while the show makes some definite metaphors, fusion really shakes up relationship dynamics.

They dealt with the plan as well as everyone else back in Gem Heist.

Yeah now that you mention it I do recall the baseball episode had Ruby and Sapphire blowing their cover because they couldn't stop flirting with each other when it was their plan and Steven's to begin with

[up][up][up]

> They dealt with the plan as well as everyone else back in Gem Heist.

I saw that as them understanding that the stakes were higher and they couldn't afford to mess about like they did back on Earth, they were basically in enemy territory

edit:On the whole I don't see Ruby and Sapphire's obsession with each other as a bad thing, probably just quirk that comes with their relationships being experienced as literal fusion

July 2-6? I guessed totally wrong. Though I'll note the other show with premiers on that day (OK, K.O.) is doing them in the morning instead of the evening.

So in that trailer, Sapphire basically dissed Ruby. Small wonder there's a scene of Ruby claiming she's better off without her.

When I saw that scene I was thinking "low blow, Sapphire, low blow."

One bright side is that this bomb will give Estelle a break and give Charlyne Yi and Erica Luttrell another chance to shine.

This is another one of those things that is frustrating but painfully realistic in relationships. Feeling hurt and betrayed over one thing, Sapphire ends up lashing out and hurting her well-meaning partner with a very personal jab.

[up][up]The accompanying posts make it sound like it's about keeping the whole team together.

I'd kind of like it if Ruby and Sapphire rejoined the team, but stayed unfused past this story arc—maybe even into the next season, depending on where this one goes.

Huh, guess my theory of Sapphire going back to the Keystone Motel is wrong. Going to Rose's Fountain seems more like a Pearl thing, so that'll be interesting.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned that the episodes are coming to DVD.

"What's Your Problem" seems like it'll be two fold, which is great.

Five episodes? That, uh, isn't how I thought they'd do it. What's gonna go down with the last three, then?
