Yeah but it wasn't just the red light and speeding. It was also fleeing and eluding.

Wait, I thought Pearl successfully dodged the fuzz, and it's moot because she didn't get a ticket.

Escaping a police chase doesn't necessarily mean that the vehicle you were in wasn't recognized and tagged by the cops in the process. If they have the license number, or even just the color and make of the car (especially since the car Pearl was driving was older and pretty uncommon), they can find who it's registered to... Which would be Greg, of course. (This being said, no one's come after Greg yet, so it's probably fine :P )

But yeah just cuz' you evade the cops and don't get ticketed, it absolutely does not mean that the crimes you've committed (including fleeing from the cops in the first place) are forgotten or forgiven, by any means. There is no "mooting" a crime just cuz' evasion of capture happened.

Pink Diamond development drawings.

Those eyes remind me of some specific series, but I can’t quite place it.

[up]I've seen people cover the Re: Cutie Honey opening on youtube and it kind of reminds me of the style that used. But the eyes could resemble a bunch of anime from the 70's and 80's or their remakes too.

Here's a link to one. I don't really want to embed the video though, because it's one of those works with Clothing Damage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2fpMRWODwU

Funny, I figured they would have gone with eyes more similar to those seen in Revolutionary Girl Utena.

So, we know that all Gems of the same cut have the same voice (actress) but do the characters in the story recognize that, you think?

The gems would probably consider it quite odd if gems of the same cut had different voices. Members of a particular cut are meant to be essentially the same — if not, they'd be Off Colours.

I've seen people cover the Re: Cutie Honey opening on youtube and it kind of reminds me of the style that used.
I'm specifically thinking of the way the eyelashes are drawn as the upper outline of the eye with a single tapered "hook" coming off. What I'm trying to remember isn't even likely to be an anime/manga.

So, we know that all Gems of the same cut have the same voice (actress) but do the characters in the story recognize that, you think?
I think they notice similarity, but gems of the same type have enough vocal variation that it's not an infallible identifier. I real life, people misidentify these voice actors sometimes (I once heard an audio clip of Lapis, but thought it was Ruby), and characters don't have credits to check.

Assuming we ever hear one, I image the real rose quartzes are also voiced by Susan Egan or someone who sounds sufficiently similar.

The gems would probably consider it quite odd if gems of the same cut had different voices. Members of a particular cut are meant to be essentially the same — if not, they'd be Off Colours.
There's not really a hard line between what level of variation is or is not considered acceptable. Voice makes so little functional difference, it's probably the last thing anyone would care about. Topaz's voice arguably works against her function, but it's apparently normal for her type (while barely talking may or may not be).

There's clearly some variation that is tolerated (if not liked) in Homeworld. The Famethysts have some variation, for example. And if one takes the games to be canon, there's Squaridot who looks different from Peridot (though they have the same voice actress).

I think the more utilitarian the differences are, the more likely they would be to be accepted... the Pearls, of course, are meant to just stand around and be pretty, so looking good according to the tastes of their owner would be part of their intended use.

By the way, there's a character entry on the character page for Rainbow Quartz that strikes me as utterly wrong, and I'm wondering if I should remove it:

  • Oxymoronic Being: Is a fusion of the absolute highest ranked cast of Gem, a Diamond, and the absolute lowest ranked cast of Gem, a Pearl who are seen as little more than possessions to own.

I don't think it's remotely accurate to call Pearls the absolute lowest ranked Gems. They're akin to high-class valets to the cream of Gem society and having one is seen as a valuable status icon. That's still more prestige than most of the common gems. I'd say the lowest-ranked gems we've seen are probably the Rubies, who are mass-produced, expendable, physically weak and unintelligent grunt troops.

I guess it depends on whether you consider a mass produced expendable foot soldier or a glorified living accessory to be lower in the caste system.

One of them at least has prestige, fancy clothes and personal connections with the highest authorities. Let's face it, at many points in time in society being a personal slave to the upper layers of society probably came with more perks and a higher social status than being a nominally "free" common foot soldier.

The ones at the bottom of the caste system would be the off colours, the ones reduced to hiding from society, even Rubies being soldiers would have some role that makes from apart of something like fighting for their planet, even if it means they're front line infantry

[up] No, they're not at the bottom. They don't have a place in the system period. Homeworld sends killer robots to shatter them for no other offense than "they exist".
