Not that I had a horse in that debate, but that is clearly the best answer.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Random thoughts,Pink went to a lot of trouble with having two identities, and then faking her own death, chances are,had Pink rebelled under her normal identity it would have led to at least one of other Diamonds joining her side and plunged the Gem Empire into a civil war depending on the Diamond that takes her side,
So Pink didn't want destroy their empire or the Diamonds and her own feelings meant she didn't think they'd retaliate in event of her death, however, with things like the trial where Blue's Zircon ended up accusing one of the Diamonds of a cover up could lead mistrust among the three remaining Diamonds,l'm reminded of how before the reveal people suspected the unseen White Diamond of being Pink's shatterer, Yellow/Blue could end up reaching up a similar conclusion,or you could have an all out war between the Diamonds if they suspected each over of a cover up and hiding the truth
have a listen and have a link to my discord serverI'd love to know how the war truly started. Did Pink create a false conflict as a way to excuse herself from power? Was there a real Rose Quartz, forgotten to history, who began it as Garnet described? How much of the war was real, and how much command of its progression did Pink have?
The next episodes can't come soon enough.

I have a message from another time...There is the open possibility that there was an actual rebellion, and Pink was dismissed when she brought it up because of her previous complaints. Which might have begun to turn her thinking around as to how the other Diamonds saw her.
That's just a possibility, though. A lot of her character hinges upon what happens next, I think.
I have a message from another time...As to the Diamonds' reaction, I'm not sure. In a way, nothing has changed for them. Pink Diamond is still, one way or another, gone from their lives unless they decide that removing the Gem from Steven would bring her back.

That's pretty much what happened...
I think there's a bit more to the backstory that we haven't seen yet. Rose's VA says there's an upcoming episode about how Pearl and Pink met. I'm guessing that if that's the case, it's more complicated than "Look we made this Pearl for you!"
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.
