I suddenly thought of something. In Sworn to the Sword, we saw Pearl recklessly throw herself in front of attacks aimed at Rose. At the time, it seemed like overzealous devotion. But now, we know Rose absolutely couldn’t be poofed, or people would see the true shape of her gem!

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Yeah, that was also brought up by someone in the Fridge pages.
A lot of little discrepancies make more sense with this reveal. Like the difference between what Bismuth claimed about Rose being born on Earth and what Rose told Greg about not missing Homeworld. Rose being Earthborn was part of her fake backstory she told the other Crystal Gems to make herself seem like a more heroic rebel leader. Her telling Greg a bit of the truth was her letting her guard down.
Disgusted, but not surprised'The author of the Gem Rebellion...'
"My wife."
Everything gets seen in hindsight then.
Did Earth have such an effect on Pink because humans look like gems? Or because it was her ONLY colony.
Why do humans look like gems. Or, gems look like humans...
Surely there have to be other humanoid/gemoid races out there, because the Diamonds apparently can't colonize lifeless planets.

You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stay@Keybreak: I remember way back when the show first started airing, there were theories that there was another alien species based off metals, who were an all male to go with the Crystal Gems (barring Steven) being female.
I'm pretty sure that idea completely died out, though.

Though the gems looked human before they ever found Earth,
@Enthusiast A lot of gems are formed by metallic impurities though, so...
That the gems are all identified as female probably means its own thing.
You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stayGems look like humans for the same reason almost all sci-fi aliens do; its easier to get viewers to empathize with something that looks human (at least externally) versus a Starfish Alien. In universe, if the prevelence of humanoids ever gets explained in sci fi, it's pretty much always "A Precursor did it"

At their literal core the gems are rocks. They're "grown", but they come out cut.
The injectors look like massive bacteriophages, which Earth has in microscopic versions...
Which might mean that there are tiny gems colonizing human cells. O_O
Or the universe is a giant body and the gems are giant viruses.
Oh, yeah, going back to the previous discussion about how Sapphire is the one flipping out over this revelation...
In retrospect, this makes a lot of sense. I rewatched "The Answer," and it's worth noting that the prospect of a Diamond shattering someone bothered Sapphire way more than it bothered Ruby. Ruby didn't (at least publicly) catch up to Sapphire's opinion on BD for being "a shatterer" until "Gem Heist." Sapphire has always been the one with more issues about the Diamonds, while (for better or worse) Ruby has always been able to accept them for what they are. They've hinted at this before, but the Diamonds have always more been Sapphire's issue specifically.
I'm not sure why that is... maybe it's because how hard BD turned on Sapphire struck her much more than Ruby, who was more used to being berated. Maybe it's because Ruby pretty much always had it drilled into her that she was more or less expandable. Maybe it's actually character development on Ruby's part, in that she was just as upset initially but remembered previous incidents and decided to just let it go (after all, it's worth noting that, unlike previous drama-based fusion splits, Ruby and Sapphire aren't thrown apart but instead are just standing next to each other).
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Anyone wonder if all setient organic life in the galaxy was wiped out by the Diamonds by this time? And humans are the only such species left. Considering how many planets they colonize (with all organic life being wiped out from them), how high is their bodycount already? I've seen quite a few people on reddit wanting for the Diamonds (all of them) to get redeemed and become friends with Steven, but ain't it will be really twisted case of "Easily Forgiven"?
Nothing can grow in a kindergarten once it's mined out. I'd think that most of those colonies are inhospitable to non-gem life now.
According to those murals it's a couple dozen planets. There are probably plenty that haven't been colonized though, yet.
As for reformation...that involves stopping an empire from trying to grow and telling the Diamonds that what they have is enough. I don't know how easy THAT would be.
You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stay![]()
Why don't they not not do that thing...
I've been thinking about Pearl and her geas.
People have talked at length about how terrible what Pink did to her was, and how at the end of the day, she's still a slave to Pink, even in death. So I've seen a lot of people speculate that now that the truth is out, Steven can probably liberate Pearl from the bind.
And I think that would be a terrible path for the crewniverse to take. Because it would unequivocally prove that Pearl never broke free of her chains. She was bound to Pink, and she's bound to Steven.
What she did in the episode is the first step she took to true freedom. She worked against her beloved Rose's last order.
And I believe this is probably why the geas was never lifted even millenia after the war. Hypocresy is practically Rose's middle name at this point, but if she gave Pearl another order after everything that they went through, then all the struggle was for nothing.
so Ian posted this
◊ it's a very early backstory for the show, interesting part is that Pink went to investigate, but I wonder at what the blanked out parts are

One has to remember that the creators mentioned that Pearl was proud to keep this secret for a long time. It's only recently (relatively speaking) that Pearl decided "hey maybe I need to reveal the truth after all".
Possibly White Diamond stuff?

Disgusted, but not surprisedI believe the intent was for that to literally be the last command she would ever give (she even seemed apologetic to be making it). Ironically it was in service of ensuring that she would be able to abandon the authority that let her do stuff like that.

I have a message from another time...Wait. Pink Diamond dual-wielded gem destabilizers during the war? I kind of got the impression from Garnet's battle with Jasper that they were new technology and her unfamiliarity with them was the reason she lost the fight to Jasper, then during the rematch she knew what a gem destabilizer was and knew how dangerous it was, thus why she one the rematch. Actually, the wiki says that gem destabilizers are era 2 tech, so now I don't know what to think.
She probably invented them and used them in the place of her sword, they probably looked very different compared to normal kind Jasper used, probably more for intimidating crystal gems so they don't try to take her head

have a listen and have a link to my discord server

I think part of it is also due to the differences in their upbringings. Steven was raised by the Crystal Gems and Greg among the people of Beach City. Pink Diamond was raised by the other Diamonds.
Pink Diamond only really started to grow up when she went to Earth.
