Why would anyone be annoyed by number 3?
Also, is it a little weird that Garnet's flashback story was immediately just made unnecessary 5 episodes later?
Or is that good timing?

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Garnet telling Rose's story highlights again just how much she believed in Rose and bought into her message. That's what makes the revelation of the truth that much harder on her.
The sad thing is that, despite the lie, Pink Diamond's sympathies were almost certainly genuine. I could easily see her identifying with other Off-Color Gems due to her being so much smaller than the other Diamonds and feeling underappreciated and out of place. Her later taking in Amethyst and calling her perfect was due to both sympathy for being smaller and appreciation for Amethyst being able to come into existence free of any of the baggage of Homeworld culture. Her sympathy for Ruby and Sapphire's relationship might have been based on her own closeness with Pearl since there was also a vast gulf between their castes.
Even the Zooman thing was done in good intentions. At that point in time she was basically draining Earth of its ability to sustain life. Prior to reaching the decision to spare Earth entirely, she may have simply contented herself with saving a few humans by placing them in an off-world nature preserve.
Pink Diamond was a good person (eventually) who had good intentions and didn't want to hurt anyone...and still managed to leave behind a huge mess and hurt a lot of people. Still, at the end of the day, her change of heart was a good thing. If she hadn't done any of that, Earth would be a lifeless husk and Ruby would have been shattered.
I guess I find Pink Diamond / Rose Quartz sympathetic partly because I can kind of relate to feeling worthless compared to the rest of the family.

Disgusted, but not surprisedMy stance on Pink/Rose is "ultimately had the best of intentions, but made several impulsive decisions that blew up horribly for everyone involved, which she failed to own up to afterwards".
As for the Diamonds, I suspect that if Steven can prove his identity to them, he can achieve a détente of "can you at least not actively try to kill my friends, please?", but there will still be a lot of friction there (on Steven's side, the other Diamonds are responsible for all the terrible things that happened just as much as Pink was, and on the other side, eventually Yellow's gonna find out what he did to her Cluster). I wonder what would happen if either of them start getting any funny ideas about "bringing Pink home"...
"You are so grounded when we get back to Homeworld, young man."
I keep thinking of what Here Comes A Thought implied about Ruby and Sapphire
Ruby could be driven to frustrated tears by hyperfocusing on a single fear or anxiety while Sapphire was more likely to be overwhelmed by a swarm of them.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThat's partly because last time Sapphire was able to remain calm because her future vision let her know things would probably turn out okay. "Pool Hopping" brought up the point that her ability to see the future isn't as reliable now due to Steven maturing faster than she could handle.

Disgusted, but not surprisedIt might be a thing that Sapphire is more easily perturbed by things in the past.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSo, it's good timing then...
Swell.

And what happens in each of these families? The younger generation resists. They strike out on their own and do what they want instead. It happens with Sadie. It happens with Jenny and Kiki. It happens with Buck, and with Ronaldo and Peedee.
Uh...no?
But...yes, there probably are.

I actually imagine that, if Blue Diamond discovered the truth, she will be furious. We've seen that she defaults to cold, uncaring authority when not overcome by grief. Her sadness is making her appear softer than what she is, and I'll bet that discovering it was all a lie will bring her little relief.

I can imagine Blue and Yellow (and maybe White) being more dangerous because of this. They will be driven to attack Earth to "rescue" their sister from Steven by tearing the Gem out of his belly. What makes it worse is that they might be right that doing so would free Pink Diamond.
Extra twist: They release the captive Rose Quartzes and send them to retrieve their Diamond.

Disgusted, but not surprised

So now that we know the truth, it makes a bit more sense why Steven is able to partially heal a Corrupted Gem after figuring out more of his power and why Rose's shield could block the Corruption Wave. The Corruption Wave was the result of the combined power of three Diamonds. It stands to reason that another Diamond can at least partially counter it.
That might be the next direction the series takes: finding a way to convince the other Diamonds to help undo the Corruption.
