Well, I for one like we can feel sorry for the impetuous young monarch who had her whole world collapse around her just as she thought she was starting to take control of her life.
It is still a bunch of assumptions, of course, we still need more about her actual motivations, but the way I am interpreting this Pink totally and sincerely thought she was solving everything. She was ending the war, freeing Earth and all the gems while also finally living the way she wanted to. Then turns out her plan was a really terrible one and everything went to shit.
Pink is a very tragic character. In the original sense of the world even. Her own bad decision and character flaws were her undoing.
I prefer 'Rose Diamond' myself. Rose is an alternate name of pink and thus it is more accurate to her gem. Also allow her to keep the name she prefer to be called.

I don't think I said it here, but I think "Can't Go Back" is the big theme of these two episodes. Of course, in the episode itself it relates mostly to Lapis, but it also showed Pink being scolded by the other Diamonds for wanting to abandon her colony. And that is ultimately is, I think, what drove Pink to kill herself. And after that, even after the plan failed spectacularly, Rose couldn't go back to being Pink again. That probably would make everything worse (I doubt either the rebels or the Diamonds would forgive her). She couldn't give up on being Rose.
Being unable to go back is the main driving force behind Pink's action. She got into a spiral of bad decisions and regrets that she was unable to scape from (or at last she thought so). Even giving her life for Steven is likely a culmination of that.
x12 Yeah totally, it feels like a diferent character now, but that doesn't mean is less good, in fact is better now but only because we didn't know much about Pink before; maybe that's the reason why I feel this way, Rose already had some characterization, so this could be seen as just adding to her character, while Pink Diamond could have been anything, the fact that the first we saw of her was her acting like a spoiled brat (like a child, ergo relatable) was only a plus.

I can understand that. I wish we can see more of her backstory so we can see that side of her. We can kinda see that in this episode also, but I am dying to see her first getting Earth, likely acting like a spoiled child in Disneyland or something. I also really want to hear Rose's voice in such an immature brat, that would be hilarious.
Now I think about it, the more I learn about Rose, more I like her. In the early flashbacks we learned she could be fun loving and silly, unlike the perfect muse we were lead to believe she was. Now we are learning she also used an impulsive brat that is really fun. And, of course, the whole tragedy that is he spiral of bad decisions.
Anyway, I am really liking this side of Rose we are learning about, (even if it turned out she is even more awful than expected). And Pink's brattyness is a large reason why.

It's actually pretty incredible how much every episode featuring Rose takes on new meaning if you mentally substitute Rose with Pink Diamond. It certainly makes the Tiny Guy, Huge Girl dynamic between Greg and Rose more pronounced.
Speaking of flashbacks...the brief one in "Gemcation" showing Pink dual wielding Gem Disruptors makes a bit more sense now. Of course Pink would wield weapons designed to insta-poof Gems to reduce chances of accidentally shattering them. She doesn't want to actually hurt any of them permanently. Of course she'd rely on those weapons rather than use her actual powers. She doesn't want to do anything that might expose her Rose Quartz identity. Of course Rose isn't one of the Gems fighting her. Because...well, yeah.

Disgusted, but not surprisedJust have to ask the following questions and require some feedback for them so please answer them, anyone who can
1. Based on what was said in previous pages and Yellow and Blue Diamond actually do end up ending their little vendetta against the Earth and the Crystal Gems, what would be left for the Crystal Gems to defend against?
2. As a follow up to the last question, is it possible that, like Lapis and Peridot, Yellow and Blue Diamond’s viewpoints of the Earth are based on never actually taking the time to actually see it? Perhaps Yellow Diamond’s disdain for organic life is actually based upon her ‘inbred’ biased sense of superiority and her not actually stopping to see just how warm and loving we organics can actually be in certain case?
3. Is anybody else more than a tad bit annoyed by the fact that both Eyeball and Aquamarine actually never got any sort of comeuppance for all of the things that they both said and did? I keep imagining that a character that I added to the series, a rogue Diamond who sided with the Crystal Gems, was actually present during the events of “Stuck Together” and promptly poofed Aquamarine in one scenario and threw her into space in another. I also imagined this rogue Diamond being present during the trial and promptly poofing Eyeball, after stating that her testimony was no good due to her lack of intelligence as a Ruby.
4. Has anyone else noticed that Sapphire is pretty much the only blue Crystal Gem? I mean, every other blue gem that we have seen so far has either been a Homeworld Gem (Blue Diamond, Blue Pearl, Holly Blue Agate, Aquamarine and the Defending Zircon) or an unaligned gem with no real affiliations towards either side whatsoever (Lapis Lazuli and Fluorite). But, in terms of the Crystal Gems; they have been known to have one red gem, one white gem, one pink gem, two purple gems, four purple gem fusions, one pink gem fusion, one red gem fusion, one magenta gem fusion and most recently a green gem. However Sapphire is the only confirmed blue gem among the CG team, which does make me wonder what this show has against the color blue?
5. It has been stated that the holidays; Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas don’t exist in this world but why is that the case? I mean what could the Gems have possibly done to cause the original historical starting points for these holidays to never happen?
6. When exactly did these following fan theories first start to resonate within the fandom?
A. There was a great Diamond Authority in control of all of Gemkind B. There were other Diamonds in charge besides the mentioned Yellow Diamond of “The Return” episode C. Rose Quartz was Pink Diamond
When did these theories first start become common knowledge amongst the fandom?
@srebak: As far as 1 and 2, Blue Diamond in the present already have come to pity Earth's native life, remarking that "they don't deserve..." to be destroyed by the cluster. She's not prepared to go against her fellow Diamonds though. How she reacts to the news that Pink Diamond was Rose Quartz is anyone's guess though. Yellow Diamond meanwhile seems far less persuadable, but if Steven's Talk No Jutsu ends up working on the second generation Diamonds, there's still White Diamond to worry about.

It seemed liked she left everything behind this time.
