Okay from someone who hasn't watched anything past like, Season 2, wasn't this already obvious?
This song needs more love.My assumption is since Pearl didn't see her, she's not actually there. Since I assume it's not a perfect vision?

Read my stories!I wonder if Rose's command to Pearl will be called out as being completely fucked up, and if Pearl will ever realize that.
Also, I loved how Pearl's Mental World works. Burying her trauma and covering it with order and perfectionism is 100% how she thinks. As she said; she compartmentalizes; everything bad gets put away.
Also, Jasper is going to find out about all of this, and probably become the biggest Steven worshiper in existence, perhaps before realizing Pink betrayed her.

You could ask the same question, if the original story was true. They might have expected retaliation, but it's been made clear that the Corruption Wave was just something no one saw coming. I'd be surprised if she even know about it.
That implies it even was a weapon. It just seemed like the three of them using Your Powers Combined.

One thing I'm left wondering after all this is, just how much did all of the various things she did as Pink Diamond weigh on Rose's mind? Noting, of course, that this might be a sliding scale - maybe the whole "human zoo" thing didn't bother her at all around the time of the rebellion, but it may have gnawed on her millennia later. I could also see it as something that echoed to her as time went on - her actions may have thrown the entire Rose Quartz caste under the bus for selfish reasons - did she come to regret that? How much guilt did she feel over bubbling Bismuth (though we've been wondering that from pretty much the beginning)? How much did it affect her that probably hundreds of gems were affected by The Corruption because of the other Diamonds' reaction to her "shattering"?
This, relatedly, is why I'm personally somewhat reticent to say a blanket Lack of Empathy cite should apply to Rose. I'll totally grant that early on for Rose back when she was PD, it was appropriate. But part of me feels that, whether it happen by chance or it was a successful attempt at Becoming the Mask, Rose did develop empathy as time went on. Of course, that's in no small part because Rose always struck me as having elements of Death Seeker - it strikes me as a reasonable reason as to how she became one.
As for the idea that White Diamond is actually a fusion between Blue and Yellow Diamonds, eh... I've gone back and forth on what I think of the idea, but since "Your Mother And Mine," which showed a white hand next to a blue and yellow one (when clearly indicating the Diamonds... although since that was a story from Garnet, I'll admit that Unreliable Narrator is in effect), I've been inclined to think that WD is her own entity.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Rose I think does deeply care for people, but doesnt' always understand what sort of information she's getting. Very High Compassion, but not very high Emotional Intelligence, imo.
Read my stories!Rose only has a Lack of Empathy because she doesn't know what it's like to BE human. She just sees those funny little things that look like her and she wants to make them happy.
"I like playing along...whoa oh oh oh oh..."
You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stayYeah that's always been the case, imo. It's the entire point of greg. She realizes that she's missing out on deeper meanings. The new episode definitely showcases why she might be someone who never really had to develop that sense of intelligence in the first place, tho.

Read my stories! There's been mention of Bismuth and Jasper, but the character reaction I'm honestly interested in here is Peridot.
She's probably low on most peoples' list because she never met Rose, and has little stake in whether she's one thing or the other. On the other hand, she's probably internalized Rose's ideals better than most and she did it in, when you think about it, pretty much the same way Rose did.
Both willingly threw away their positions and status because they had come to love the Earth and its life. Granted, it was more forced onto Peridot than it was Rose, but Peridot was still out to save the Earth of her own volition even before she called Yellow Diamond a clod.
I could see Peridot coming on to Rose's side even as everyone else is working their way through their respective Broken Pedestals.

It could take quite a while to work our way through all the gems. I definitely am excited to see the show process each of their own emotions and logic
Read my stories! As for Eyeball being absent during the flashback, if you listen carefully you'll hear what sounds like a battle in the background. I imagine that since it was Pearl's memory, it was just focused on what was directly around her.

I agree, I'd also like to see Peridot's take on this, i'd also like to see her reaction to finding out Steven is half Diamond.

what amuses me the most about this is how common Evil Mastermind Rose theories were early on. And now we see that to some extent, those theories were correct but... also completely and utterly wrong. She was never a mastermind. As far as I can tell, she was run on her passion and desire for freedom so much so it clouded her judgment, to the point she assumed that the other diamonds wouldn't bother retaliating. Which just makes it all the more tragic, because it wasn't some grand plan that caused this, but a complete misjudging of the situation. For a show that's always run on Emotions, it's very thematically fitting

Read my stories!

I didnt' find it surprising, but it is how the plot works. Like that is the plot they set up. Not surprising =/= not new.
