Yeah, I don't like that angle being lost actually. You can say "Oh, but the message of sometime it's necessary to kill is still there because Garnet and Amethyst genuinely believed it happened", but it's just...yeah.
Even if Pearl actually did it that would still be there, but this way?

I feel a bit sorry for Rose Diamond. She truly thought that her momsisters thought so little of her that they wouldn't give a rat's ass if she died. But faking her death to end the war was very ill-conceived and cost her all of the people that trusted her. She couldn't exactly tell the Diamonds that she was actually alive because by the time she realized they weren't just going to let it go, they were incommunicado. The galaxy warp was broken and there was no way to communicate off-world. And presumably she was too ashamed or guilty to tell Garnet or later Amethyst

Not everyone has it easy with dealing with their anxiety and depression and blaming Lapis for not immediately doing something about it is kind of rude, not gonna lie? Like, frankly this is the kind of shit I'd pull. I relate to Lapis so damn much because everything about her strikes such a major personal chord with me that it's painful. I've been in that position so many times and it's fucking brutal to watch, but I don't blame her for her actions or for feeling that way. Is it selfish? Yes it is. Is it understandable? Yes it is.

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I like how the show went from "How will I ever live up to my mom?" to "GEEZ WHAT THE SHIT MOM HOLY FUCK"
Forever liveblogging the AvengersTbh, Lapis kind of reminds me of Lars in terms of character progression (I think that's the right term). Stumbling several, several times with bits of positive character mixed in, though unlike Lars she hasn't had her "I don't wanna be like this anymore" moment yet. She was almost there, but Poor Communication Kills, unfortunately.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢I mean, personally, I think they've been a bit too meandering with Lapis. And I get that might be part of the point, but it doesn't stop it from being entirely frustrating. I wasn't surprised by her actions though, and I figured something like that would happen. Having her come back so soon would defeat the entire purpose of her leaving.

@Adric I’m sorry if I sounded insensitive. I used the wrong language. Lapis’ anxiety may be relatable (to an almost uncomfortable degree, which is a testament to the writing), but she’s still a character that I want to see grow and change. Or on the flip side, deteriorate and get worse. Her leaving for the umpteenth time doesn’t do anything for me because it doesn’t show me anything new. Yes, she’s lonely. Yes, she’s relatable. Yes, she’s depressed. Yes, she’s afraid. But these are things we, the audience, already know. Her character just constantly seems defined by how miserable she is. Maybe I’m not giving this show enough credit considering what they did with Lars, but I just want it to go somewhere.
And yes, I do still love Lapis (I always say Lapis is me on my moody days, while Steven is me on my best days), but I’m not above being frustrated with her. Anxiety and depression is a real thing (believe me I know), but all I’m saying is that I’m losing interest in that particular storyline.

That's fair. I'm genuinely interested in seeing where they go with that but with the Rose Quartz stuff going on now, it's kind of on the backburner. Personally I'm more frustrated that Peridot has gone through a lot of offscreen development that we've barely seen anything about. There's an entire episode's worth of Peridot developing and training that's just relegated to one scene now. Kind of frustrating given she's my favorite character.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Rose Quartz is Pink Diamond?! What's next? Supreme Leader Snoke is Darth Plagueis?
I understand the concern that people might visit the page without realizing that there were new episodes. If only there were a way to put 'here there be spoilers' on top of the page.
Assuming they come in from the top and don't jump to the most recent post where someone mentions something bonkers like Amethyst having cell phone cases available

I think this was the best plot twist the show could have taken. SU never fails to surprise me. I adored these episodes so much.
I will say this though, these episodes were pretty weird for me considering Rose and Lapis were originally two of my favorite characters in the show, but now my opinion of both of them has drastically changed. For one, I officially lost every ounce of sympathy for Lapis. It’s not like I don’t relate to her crippling loneliness and anxiety, but she’s not doing anything about it. So yeah, I don’t really care if she comes back or not at this point (unless she finds Lars somewhere in space).
As for Rose, just...wow. Turns out she WASN’T a morally ambiguous war hero that did her best to protect the world from tyrants. She was just a selfish ruler who faked her death to live “free and, thus, was directly responsible for the mass genocide of the Crystal Gems. And this whole time she just her sisters grieve her death and slaughter thousands in her name. And THEN she left the one person who was with her through all of her mistakes for someone completely random. Yeah, I still love Rose but she was...kind of the worst. EVER.
And yet... I can’t help but love what this means for Steven’s character. This is perhaps even worse than her being PD’s murderer. Rose is singlehandedly responsible for everything wrong with his loved ones lives. He really has a lot to deal with. Poor Steven. And Pearl. And everyone. Oh man, this is going to be GOOD.
