One thing I've suspected is that bubbling away all the other Rose quartzes may have played a huge part in Pink Diamond's defeat,it's also probably part of the reason why Pink Diamond had to go to Blue and Yellow for help

I don't think Blue or Yellow would have the authority to just bubble up a bunch of another Diamond's gems.

Plus, I got the impression that the bubbling happened post-war. Just me, maybe.

Yeah, that seemed like a direct response to Pink getting shattered to me.

It is hard to tell due to the lighting, but the bubbles all appear to be pink. So either Pink did it or they made the Rose Quartz do it to themselves. Or a different pink gem did it.

Also, Rose Quartz were removed from her army when Rose rebelled.

I should have clarified,I meant to say that Pink bubbling away her own Gems and then having a lot her amethysts go over to Rose's side was what made her go Blue And Yellow for help, could have been a numbers issues if Pink had one Kindergarten active and the other one was created in a hurry

There was thing in trial where it was mentioned there were no Rose Gems in her army and none in her guard,so them being bubbled away happened before her assassination..least that's how I interpreted it

I figured when Crystal Gem!Rose rebelled, Pink and the other Diamonds over-reacted and purged them from the ranks. Then Pink Diamond was shattered, so all Rose Quartzes had to be sealed away permanently or executed.

I could actually see Rose exploiting Pink's decision to bubble away all the other innocent Rose Gems ,since punishing the wrong people always manages to rub people the wrong way, especially if they have previously doubted her leadership then something like this would tip them over the edge

OK,I have ask this it's been bothering me

Before Pink's Gem was revealed did anyone correct guess that the design on the dollar bill was somehow related to her? Seems so obvious now but I'm surprised didn't see anyone speculate which Gem was on their fictional currency

For reference

Their money having a diamond in place of the Eye of Providence was obviously a sign of humans culture subconsciously affected by gem presence Earth, but why would that need to be Pink Diamond specifically? It's clearly just a diamond—just a regular, non-living one.

Perhaps the colonization had an impact on human cultures? They probably communicated at least somewhat with the magical rock ladies who worked for this "Pink Diamond".

I mean,it's certainly possible that Pink's Gem is on their currency for no reason other then looking fancy and they don't know it's significance, but it was a clever to include very early on

Unless there's a replica out there they just copied or something

I just figured it was coincidence- Gems have a big impact on Earth, whether the humans know it or not, and Diamonds are big important gems in both human and Gem culture. Now, if it was a square-cut diamond on the dollar bill instead of the generic looking one, that would be different.

I still think CN's gonna do a "surprise there's gonna be a Season 6" after Season 5 finishes airing.

On a related note, I forgot to mention the last four episodes, and some other things, paint an increasingly confusing picture of the show storyboarding staff:

  • Neither Miki Brewster nor Madeline Queripel boarded any of these episodes, suggesting they were only brought on temporarily.
  • Joe Johnston stepped back to storyboard "Pool Hopping" more than two seasons after . Like Kat Morris and Rebecca Sugar storyboarding "Alone at Sea", this is probably temporary.
  • Likewise, Colin Howard came back for "Letters to Lars" after he switched back to design for last season. Given "Letters to Lars" was probably boarded before said post, this was likely temporary as well.
  • Amber Cragg, Jeff Liu, and Lamar Abrams have all boarded one or more episodes of Craig of the Creek. Any of them may have just been there temporarily—Steven Universe itself had a lot of that early on—but how did they have the time? Was there actually a huge time gap where production just stopped and then started back up?

@thatother1dude: I'm pretty sure there was a production hiatus. Depending on how long it was, they definitely could've storyboarded some CotC episodes in the meantime.

Though unprecedented in at least the last eight years of Cartoon Network, there was almost certainly some production delay/break, at least in the storyboarding department.

I'm imagining two (not necessarily mutually exclusive) scenarios:

  • There were delays outside of the storyboarding, thus the board artists went on hiatus because there wasn't much point working ahead. One such possibility is a big staff reorganization after the two head writers left.
  • For some time, production stopped entirely (or more precisely began to stop, traveling in waves down the production line). This would most likely be because season six was greenlit later relative to previous seasons.

Either way, this is probably why the release rate of episodes actually has gone down in the last year or so (i.e. they're not just being saved up for big bursts).

(Also, I'm reconsidering what I said about Brewster. It's been four episodes since the one she boarded, but those four included two by Mitroff+Villeco and none by Jeff Liu, who was partner for "Jungle Moon". She still probably was there briefly, but she may have boarded more than one.)

Long story short, I still think season five was finished months ago, but they're spreading it out because otherwise there will be a really long break until season six even starts. Personally, I'd rather reach whatever this season ends with and stew on that, but it seems the general policy of Cartoon Network to favor mid-season breaks over seasonal ones.
