Perhaps it will finally answer whether or not Bismuth was being metaphorical when she said "[Rose] was made right here in the dirt".

On an unrelated note, someone made an SU version of OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes' ending credits and I wanted to share it.

Why would she have been speaking metaphorically?

Where else would Rosey have been made if she belonged to PD?

Homeworld, remember that Kindergarten Lars and Steven fell into after the trial? She could have come from there for all we know.

And yeah,Bismuth was probably being metaphorical

Greg did ask Rose that one time if she ever wanted to go back home and she said never. If she were originally from Earth that wouldn't really make sense.

Rose might not have been entirely truthful with Greg

We learned how she sealed Bismuth away without telling anyone,so it's not too implausible that she would lie about something

I mean, that's a strange thing to lie about. And the entire point of that scene was that they were finally being open and honest with one another.

I actually forgot that dialogue when discussing this subject.

Rose: Everything on Earth seems fast to me.
Greg: Do you... miss your home planet?
Rose: No, never.
Wow, that would be almost nonsensical if Rose was from Earth.

That or a good example of From a Certain Point of View.

After all, how can she miss her home planet if she's living on it.

Which still doesn't make any sense. If she had to be evasive/deceptive about the topic, why did she bring it up?

A bit of Child of Two Worlds could be at play. Born on Earth but every other way a Gem.

Though, more seriously, I think the simpler answer, short of Rose being made on Homeworld itself, is that Gems all consider Homeworld just that, regardless of where they were created.

[down] That's basically what I just said

Also, there could be a bit of a "personal definition" thing going on... gems (including Rose) might consider Homeworld her "home planet" (thus using that name for it even when they've never been there, like Amethyst) even if they were made in a different planet. If so, Rose could be completely honest with Greg in that case because she has a different definition of "home planet" versus "planet of birth". Yes, I know that we would consider the two concepts one and the same, but that might just be one of those cultural differences.

The place you're born isn't exactly your "home"...if you ain't live there.

The difference is real.

Putting aside that they are alien creatures either way, Gems are born knowing what they are. Viewing Homeworld as their home world seems a pretty obvious thing to do, if it doesn't occur on its own.

@53384 At the same time, what you consider your home isn't necessarily where you live. It's a bit of a philosophical question as to what one considers their "home." It's kind of how the idea of what constitutes a "person" is different between different people. Like how it's strongly implied that Greg used "person" to mean another sophont, but Rose all but stated that she used "person" as a synonym for "human." These differences in the nuances of word definitions exist between fellow humans; it's not at all a stretch to think that the differences could be even more pronounced in an alien species.

Rose clearly understood what he meant, though. If she actually thought he was asking about Earth, she wouldn't have replied the way she did.

Hmm... Yellow having a circular gem makes me wonder if the Diamonds having diamond shaped gems happened later on in the show's production.

And it looks like they gave Yellow's sparkle cape to Hessonite.

Also I know her having a giant glimmering cape would've made her first appearance much less intimidating, but I wish they'd kept it. It looks nice.

The face looks really familiar, but I can't put my finger on what (not just Pearl).

Why wouldn't it have? It's not like details that fine are finalized super far in advance. The murals in "Serious Steven" all had triangular gemstone silhouettes.

There's still the question of whether the figures in the mural are meant to be the Diamonds. But we can definitely say that BD and PD went through a major redesign from mural to the actual character.

The cape is fabulous and they should have have kept it!

But of course animating a cape is a nightmare so for the practical reasons it was dropped, although White might have cape, you never know
