Giving yourself bruises with a yo-yo is not uncommon, particularly if you're trying to do yo-yo tricks. Just spinning it up and down has a chance to send it into your body, yeah, but that chance really jumps up if you're suddenly trying to pull an Around The World or a Forward Toss and you're not able to pull it off reliably (or at all).
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.> Do note that the yo-yo is based on a weapon.
According to legend anyway, the trope page had something about Filipino tribesmen using them, the guy who made the claim was kidding I suspect
And the resemblance to the Chinese meteor-hammer is interesting

have a listen and have a link to my discord serverYo-yo like toys existed in ancient Greece

In "Jungle Moon", Stevonnie-as-Pink-Diamond got diamond eyes
I always thought the easiest combo weapon for Steven's shield and Pearl's spear would be a hammer, but they might not want to more or less repeat what Sardonyx does with her combo weapon (that said, Smoky Quartz's yo-yo isn't much different outside of aerodynamics from Sugilite's flail, so maybe they would). One thing that I thought could work, particularly if Lion gets involved, is if the two don't combine the weapon, and the Steven version of Rainbow Quartz fights via jousting. That said, the Parasol of Pain works too.
Combining Steven's shield and Garnet's gauntlets is a bit harder to visualize. One thing I could see working is if the gauntlets were spiked (like how Steven has demonstrated the ability to turn his shield spiky as a counter-attack). Alternately, that fusion might just be even more effective with the moves than either is individually (like summoning multiple shields, or throwing out lots of rocket punches, things like that).
The one that has me most entertained is the idea of a Steven/Peridot fusion, mostly because I could see that fusion summoning the shield and then using some kind of psychokinetic power to make it fly around wherever the fusion wanted (I know that, as a hard light construct, the shield wouldn't ordinarily be affected by ferrokinesis, but I'm also imagining that there would be a power boost to what Peri brings to the table, similar to what other fusions have going on).

I guess Gauntlets + The Shield = Blade Below the Shoulder, with the "blades" being the shield split in half.

I feel like the following would be more likely:
- Rapier; Pearl's spear becomes the blade, Steven's Shield becomes the crossguard.
- A Drill: Steven/Rose's shield already has a spiral pattern, plus it would make for some interesting Gurren Lagann references.

Considering a spear and a whip created a yo yo, an umbrella doesn't seem too far a stretch. But the other guesses are good too.
Suppose if Lapis and Peridot's combined powers would be to control mercury? Not sure if water is actually a part of the element, but it being liquid metal sounded fitting for the two.
Spear and Shield = Parasol Ability
Boy, I hope so.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Oh yeah i forgot about the Parasol of Pain option.
Would be most interesting option for Rainbow Quarts TBH (Drill's a close second for all the potential Giga Drill Breakers
)
If you go through with it, the options are currently

Earlier I said my idea for a Rainbow Quartz weapon either being a battleaxe or a buzzsaw on a stick. As for a Lapis and Peridot fusion, perhaps the ability to liquify metal and control it like water.
I think Sapphire should have a Royal Rapier since she is the aristocratic Gem,although she has Psychic Powers and an ice gauntlet, like this fanart shows
so she hardly needs one
Sapphire having knuckle dusters was never confirmed.
Also that art was made shortly after the two appeared.
And that's not even the original source.

"Pearl's history and emotional baggage and Garnet's being ahead of things and in her own mind makes their relationship with Steven more distant than his relationship with Amethyst, and so fusing with them may be somewhat more difficult for Steven."
Interesting to see them talk about Steven fusing with Pearl and Garnet. Bet we're all curios how either of them will turn out. Wonder if with one of them, instead of it happening accidentally , we have them actively going for it. Seems a possibility with Garnet with her future vision and all.
Garnet: "Steven, in one of my visions, I see us two fusing." Steven: "*squeeee* Really? How do we look? Do we look awesome??" Garnet: "*grins* Want to find out?"
Be neat if it happened like that.
