Going back to the topic of the show in other languages, does anyone know how any of those versions translated Greg's line in "We Need to Talk" where he asked Rose to talk to him "like a real person"?
The scene relies on the verbal ambiguity of Greg's syntax and the meaning of the word "person", so it seems like it would be really difficult to translate.
@53136 Ah, right, got mixed up... she poofed Blue Zircon with a finger, and used lightining on Yellow Zircon. Still, that's only a small taste of what she could potentially do.
@53138 Wait, are we sure that Blue Diamond has the power to manipulate emotions? Honestly, the whole "makes Steven cry when she thinks about Pink Diamond" struck me more as Steven's power (super-empathy... which would totally fit him) than hers (after all, no other gems seem affected by Blue's melancholy - for example, Blue Pearl seems fairly calm, all things considered).
@53143 Egg is the Show Within a Show version of Peridot.
@53152 I think Lars is just really adaptable when he isn't preoccupied with trying to seem "cool." That, or he already is cool, more or less, to the Off Colors, so he's a bit freed from his emotional shackles.

Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.@53159 That struck me more as "Homeworld gems get sad when they think about PD" - I mean, maybe it means that Blue Diamond has emotion control, but I'd want to see some instance where other gems are clearly taking on her projected emotions despite what they'd otherwise feel. I still feel like there's just as much (and, if you factor in Steven's dreams back when Malachite was around, more) evidence that it's Steven's power and not BD's.
Though as a side note, the point about Lars being in a bubble (if the theory that it kept him from being affected by an emotion control power is true) does lead to a question - if bubbling would basically function as a shield against a Diamond's power, would that mean that there's potentially bubbled gems back on Earth that weren't corrupted? Now, there's a very good argument as to why the Crystal Gems wouldn't want to experiment on this (namely, probably all of the bubbled gems were Homeworld loyalists, and you wouldn't necessarily want to have to fight them again), But it'd be interesting to consider.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.I mean, a wave of "blue" radiated away from BD as she was crying, and then all the others started crying, not even necessarily seem "sadder" just crying, and they all started and stopped at the exact same time. It seemed really obvious what they were going for.

"What happened to the Crystal Gems' prisoners?" is not something I can think of a sensible answer to, which is also why I don't expect the show to ever draw attention to it.
Have you guys heard of Fake Steven Universe Episodes
? It's a neat blog and has some really good stuff.
To answer your Q a bit late @that1otherdude, I don't know what the line was in my language (Norwegian), but if I'd make a guess I think Greg would say "human" instead of "person" since that's more normal to say, i.e. "Can't you talk to me like a normal human?"/"I'm... not a human", though again it's just a guess. Probably among those lines that can get Lost in Translation, though there are more blatant examples.
New podcast, this one is focusing on Amethyst
- Amethyst is based on Valerie, a friend of Rebecca's from college. Their personalities are very different but Amethyst's appearance was inspired by Valerie
- Valerie was a character in a "Lars and Sadie" comic Rebecca doodled in college.
- Amethyst was always short, even before Rebecca had decided Amethyst was "defective." The idea that other amethysts are different from our Amethysts wasn't decided until during the writing of Season 1.
- The Crystal Gems represent the "past, present, and future." Amethyst is the present.
- The crewniverse always knew they wanted Amethyst to be the gem who interacted the most with humans. Her being from Earth was later thought up as an explanation for that, around the same time the concept of the kindergarten was created.
- The joke at the end of "Steven's Lion," "We kept Amethyst," was actually written before Amethyst's origin story had been written.
- Amethyst's relationship with Steven is inspired by aspects of Steven Sugar's relationship with Rebecca: "Not being a particularly good role-model because we're just like, you know, siblings who will always forgive each-other of being a mess."
- The gems' specific weapons, including Amethyst's being a whip, are one of the earliest concepts in the show's creation.
- Pearl's spear and Amethyst's whip are an Apollonin/Dionysian dichotomy.
- The whip is also a reflection of Amethyst's "flexibility and fluidity."
- Amethyst was chosen to be the first gem to fuse with Steven because of their close sibling-esque relationship.
- Pearl's history and emotional baggage and Garnet's being ahead of things and in her own mind makes their relationship with Steven more distant than his relationship with Amethyst, and so fusing with them may be somewhat more difficult for Steven.
- "Before Steven existed, Amethyst was kind of the Steven of the group."
- Rose Quartz encouraged Amethyst's fluidity, and sheltered her from the truth of her origins and the nature of homeworld for a long time.
- In some ways, Amethyst is like a kid who was raised by extremely permissive hippy parents.
- An important part of Amethysts character grows has been her finding out what Quartzes are supposed to be like.
Part 2: Michaela Dietz, Deedee Magno Hall
- As an adoptee, Michaela relates to Amethyst's uncertainty about her identity.
- Michaela didn't know Amethyst would fuse with Steven until she got to that part of the script.
- Deedee has "dabbled with the yo-yo," and occasionally hurt herself in the process.
- Michaela sees the show as having an anti-conformity message.
- Michaela sees Steven and Amethyst's first fusion as a metaphor for asking for help when you're at your lowest.
- Deedee thinks Pearl might be keeping shape-shifting in her back pocket, until she really needs it.
- Michaela thinks Amethyst being able to use a trip to the Kindergarten to cheer up someone else is a sign of character growth and maturity.
- Zach Callison has a theory that if Steven and Peridot fused, the resulting fusion would be smaller than either of them.
How do you injure yourself with a yo-yo of all things//

have a listen and have a link to my discord server

I think the idea was that she made regular visits there. And the Crystal Gems had no idea the whole time.
Disgusted, but not surprised
