"Dewey Wins" and especially "Sadie Killer" are examples of townie episodes done well. It seems the Gem episodes and the townie episodes are finally starting to merge together.

It took too long for that. But maybe seeing Lars of the Stars is only satisfying after so long of him being not that. And it isn't as if some of the townie episodes are good in there own right.

Most importantly, it is to show what the Crystal Gems are protecting, and what Homeworld will destroy. Look at how different Beach City humans are to Pink's pets, who've essentially been brainwashed and conditioned into overgrown, unimaginative children.

[up]kinda, I prefer the peridot episode with the kindergarden, seen her talk that way show how used she have become used to earth and her life, it kinda show why she want to fight homeworld so much.

Gemcation on the other hand really annoy me because how everyone thinks steven is afect by homeworld as it should be but no, is about connie...which dosent matter because the talk and that it.

Yeah, so far the best of that bomb was peridot growing up and Kevin Being delightfully dickish as always.

Really don't get why people are bothered by episodes that focus a lot on relationships.

The entire series is about relationships. To the point that the ultimate powerups are the manifestations of relationships.

[up][up] "The Working Dead" would like to say hello.

There always were episodes that combined human stuff and Gem stuff, but they were kinda one off-ish and didn't really affect or involve the main plot, unlike "Dewey Wins" or "Sadie Killer".

[up] Yes. All of this.

In general? It's because this show has Loads And Loads Of Characters, and people only care about relationships between characters when it's about characters they like. We're far enough into the show that people have gotten used to the patterns, and have developed preferences based on their favorites.

Woo!

Where'd you get those ratings, by the way?

Also, it's not usually CN's fault regarding full episode leaks (barring Out Of This World).

Ok Ok, leak was the wrong word. Releasing officially on the apps first is not a good idea. That's what I meant. Steven Universe is actually quite high rated.

@ultimatum and @thatother1dude, thanks for explaining the releases of the episodes.

While watching Lapis leave all I could think was that she will probably be back AS the Diamonds are attacking Earth because Conscience Makes You Go Back... unless that's actually too predictable?

Pretty sure that whenever she and Peridot reunite either way will result in them fusing. I'm more or less indifferent to their ship, but it'll still be pretty fun to see it.

I hope we'll return to more dance numbers for the fusions though, lately it seems that every time two characters fuse, all they have to do is hold hands or hug. I get that it symbolises the two character's minds being well synched (and Steven and Amethyst's fusion hug was adorable), but the dancing was still part of the fun and I just hope we'll see more of it.

(Would totally love to see Garnet and Peridot dance again if Peri finally took Garnet up on her offer). evil grin

I would not call Dewey Wins an example of an episode done well. It glorifies irresponsibility.

quoting myself from earlier in the thread:

Also, while Connie is best human, I actually felt frustrated with her here, as she was being irrationally selfish and what's way worse and frustrated me far more, the show tried to legitimise her feelings and throw Dewe under the bus (for the crime of being responsible).

Being responsible by stepping down, which the show then treats as a crime against Steven, which is ridiculous, and an example of why Connie is in the right (which she isn't)

EDIT: The episode acts like its on his side there. Certainly like its on Connie's side. Which, if is not what they intended, they failed to get that across to me, which is a failure.

It's possible to be sympathetic to more than one opinion. I understood where Steven and Dewey were coming from in that episode, but that doesn't mean that Connie's feelings (or Nanafu's speech at the end) where wrong.

And you honestly kind of lose me at saying he show "tries to legitimize Connie's feelings" as if they're something completely alien or irrational.

Connie is being "selfish" because she felt like Steven gave up and abandoned them? Yeah, I don't really understand the logic here.

That's the type of thing that would usually accomplish something significant...

But outside of character growth, it did not...

Do you know how many other shows wish they had "filler" episodes dedicated to relationship drama and character development? You will watch those episodes, young man, and you will watch all of them! There are bland anime in Japan who could've used those character-centric filler episodes. But you got them, so you get what you get and you don't throw a fit!

It sounds to me like you're saying "nothing worthwhile happened except for this one worthwhile thing that happened."

Which is it, because you can't have both.
