I'm pretty sure the Gem in the bubble is a Pink Topaz. The Lighthouse Gem has a similar face to Topaz, but from another angle she had the diamond cut. Thus I think a Topaz is more likely and less likely to bring in plot holes.

I wonder if Stevonnie staying fused for as long as they do (it appeared to be for days even) will eventually cause them to become their own person separate from Steven and Connie like what usually happens to a lasting fusion (i.e. Garnet and Sugilite)? Unless next episode starts right off with the two having unfused, it would have been interesting to have it addressed, and possibly even feel a bit weird if they don't when that is previously shown to happen to those fusing for too long. The answer might simply be that it's different for a half-human/human fusion, but again, would be interesting if pointed out.

Now we have a name for the band. "Sadie Killer and the Suspects."

Did anyone else feel that Lars was a little OP in his exploits against Homeworld? It seems like everything that he did he did with almost no effort.

Did anyone else feel that Lars was a little OP in his exploits against Homeworld? It seems like everything that he did he did with almost no effort.
Yes, but I loved how completely ridiculous it was—and that the biggest threat in the episode wasn't the giant ship with the death laser, but Lars' getting distracted by something completely stupid because he's still insecure (albeit much better at getting over himself).

It was clear the Off Colors would be doing a lot of stuff off-screen. The two directions to go with that are implying little of consequence happened and an overabundance of things happened. The show leaned into the latter in a really over the top way.

I'm thinking this episode kinda felt like the beginning of a bomb event? Like they just took a two episode opening to a bomb and they decided not to air it over a week.
"Jungle Moon" ended kind of suddenly, but Lars' last line ("Let's get you up here, and back home through my head.") suggests the next episode is going to begin some time after Steven and Connie are already back on Earth.

I'm starting to think: maybe the Diamonds finally invade Earth because they're tracking Lars's ship?
Since Emerald explained how she was tracking the Sun Incinerator, it could end up the opposite way, as shaking her off their tail delays the Off Colors' trip back to Earth.

There's gonna be some major confrontation by the season's end, which probably has the Diamonds personally involved, but I'm not sure if Emerald's pursuit of the Off Colors will cause it so directly.

The chair size alone makes me think Pink Diamond really was way smaller than Yellow and Blue, but I'm not assuming that's important. Even though gems are ageless, their sizes and appearances generally reflect age and maturity. If there's any reason she's smaller, it'd probably be less of a plot point and more of a justification for the visual of Yellow Diamond looking down at her.

will eventually cause them to become their own person separate from Steven and Connie like what usually happens to a lasting fusion (i.e. Garnet and Sugilite)?
All fusions are separate people to some degree. Sugilite was different because she's strong-willed and self-important enough to stay together, regardless of her parts' wishes.

I'm glad Lars still has a whiny side. Just before the episodes released I saw someone complaining that it was lazy writing to develop a character off screen, as in Lars developing from a bratty teen to daring man between episodes, but "Lars of the stars" shows that he's still the same guy, even as he did become more mature, he's still a teenager.

I get that Lars knew that Emerald wasn't going to blow up their ship, but what purpose did lowering the shields serve?

[up] Calling her bluff, I presume. No shields means the Sun Incinerator would take the full brunt of Emerald's attack, destroying it.

[up] I think it was a combination of calling her bluff, and reducing the options Emerald had available. With shields down, presumably she could only refrain from attacking, outright destroy the vessel, or tip her hand and try to inflict as minimal damage as possible.

I don't think you can really say "no effort". We only heard from second hand, which could be easily exaggeration. Of course, even if it did take some effort it was still impressive. But Lars had the upper hand of being an aliens and Homeworld clearly has no idea to how deal with aliens. We saw that in Jail Break too, their technology is useless against non gems, and the Off Colors exploited that to the max.

Also, maybe Lars can teleport by yelling. I mean, Lion can do it. That would help getting around.

You know, I assumed Lars made the Space Skipper because he couldn't use a regular gem fighter, but then I noticed he pressed a button on his chair to send Stevonnie to the cockpit.

So can Lars use gem tech, or did they also modify the controls on chair?

Lars is like Lapis in the sense that their particular abilities (the fact that gem technology can't detect him in the former, Earth being made up of so much water) just make them very useful in the situations they found themselves in.

I know I might be harping a bit on how much I hate that the "Rose is Pink Diamond" thing just won't die, but I figure I'll post this and see what anyone has to say on it:

I know everyone says Rose is Pink Diamond has been debunked but the crewniverse works in mysterious ways and like.... 1.it is now Canon that Pink Diamond was around the same height as Rose. 2. Not only did Rose have the same fluffy pink hair as PD, Rose/Steven’s reanimated creations have the same shade of pink hair. 3. Pink Diamond was animated with that same weird shadow over her eyes that is in EVERY SINGLE SHOT of ROSE. 4. Rose has a weirdly powerful set of abilities for a common quartz. Jasper is supposed to be the strongest most perfect quartz soldier ever and Jasper is wayyyyyy less powerful than Rose. 5. We don’t know anything about Rose’s backstory. 6. it is now Canon that Pink Diamond was a rebellious teen. 7. When Stevonnie walks into the tower they say “Have I been here before?” STEVEN HAVING PD’s MEMORIES. 8. Rose’s shield’s rose symbol has a small diamond inside of it, as do all of her rose symbols. 9. It is Canon that Rose has lied to Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl in the past, Rose has never been straightforward about her past. 10. Pearl keeps the pink diamond insignia on her space uniform*adjusts tinfoil hat* conclusion: Pink Diamond faked her own death and assumed the identity Rose Quartz. Don’t @ me.

Look, if it turns out Pink Diamond wasn't shattered, then the whole bit of moral ambiguity that Rose has would be lost. That's kind of a big fuckin' deal. If they just say "Nope, she didn't kill anyone, she just went from a spoiled little brat who wanted to colonize a planet to a rebel against her people", then what the hell was the point of showing how imperfect Rose was? And then that just opens some questions: everyone so far has identified Steven as Rose by his gem, so wouldn't Pink Diamond have a different gem cut than Rose? Why did they put in Yellow possibly having a part in Pink's death? How could Jasper not recognize the gem of her own diamond?

I think Rose being similar to Pink Diamond is intentional, and I do agree that Rose does come off as being special (for any gem's standards, not just quartzes), but I don't get the impression it's meant to suggest they're one and the same so much as just drawing a contrast.

The Rose Quartz line gems looking somewhat similar to Pink Diamond may be due to Pink’s vanity.

I think there resemblance might also be to indicate they have similar powers. People have pointed out Pink's hair is the same shade as Lars' and Lion's mane.

Which reminds me that we still don't know if Homeworld thinks Lars is an alien or an off color gem.

Maybe that's why our Rose was able to rebel in the first place. The Rose Quartz line was too much like Pink Diamond, enough that they inherently possessed the kind of autonomy that a ruling class Gem would have. Our Rose had Pink's attitude, but channeled it to more benevolent ends.

[up] Perhaps it is also because Pink made her custom gem line too powerful. If Rose’s powers are standard for her gem line, then they were easily one of the strongest ones. Pink basically made them too awesome.

Huh, I didn't think about that before but did Rose Quartzes only start being created because of Pink? She said she didn't have an army of her own, does that come with each Diamond getting their own custom Gem type? That would make sense actually.
