Just something to point out: the zap2it guide said "Gemcation" was second and "Raising the Barn" was third. According to the CN website, it's the other way around.
As far as I can tell, switching the order wouldn't create any continuity problems, but "Gemcation" being first does make a bit more sense.
More later, but I'll just point out I was super wrong about Pearl covering her mouth (at least in this episode).

Honestly, I would have bet on that just being a normal kind of character tic too. But given that it distinctly seems more like that here, I think that rightly calls into question almost every time it's come up previously. That's probably the biggest "lore" thing revealed in this entire chunk of episodes
Otherwise... Goddamn I missed this show, and goddamn did I love the hell out of seeing more of it again, finally.
now to slip back into the agony of not having more of it
Sling TV is being weird: Now it has half of the new episodes, and not even the first three ("Raising the Barn", "Gemcation", and "Sadie Killer"). It also has "Gemcation" after "Raising the Barn", like zap2it instead of the website, so take that as you will.
So this was mostly what I hoped for: A series of episodes high on drama driven by the previous events, but not bereft of humor.
"I thought it was 'Clarence'." was so strong I had to pause the video to laugh.
I'm genuinely confused as to whether that's a pure non-sequitur or something I'm not getting.
So we've finally seen a episode co-boarded by Amber Cragg—two of them, in fact ("Raising the Barn" and "Kevin Party"). After Molisee and Howard left the board teams at the end of season four, there seemed to be some scrambling until they settled on Abrams/Liu, Mitroff/Villeco, Queripel/Zuke, and Cragg/Florido. But Zuke only boarded a few more episodes, so there will be at least one more boarder before the end of the season.
Now to wait for another four months before the next episodes come out. (Ughh)
I'm ambivalent as to whether these episodes are better released together.
It's similar to the "Week of Sardonyx" in that there's an over-arching plot line, which is nice to see over a short time, but there's several self-contained plots (even moreso in this case) that would be easier to discuss if they came out separately.
I actually agree about that. A lot of nice moments, but some of the impact is lost when the ultimate outcome takes less than an hour to get to.
I think it's interesting that the townspeople and even Kevin are so chill with all the Gem stuff and other supernatural things. I guess that cements it that their indifference is less Selective Obliviousness and more genuinely being used to it or just not giving a crap. Has interesting repercussions for Ronaldo's behavior as even if he did turn out to be right in everything most people would just nod and go on their merry way.

I was glad for once the town were Fantastically Indifferent but not Apathetic Citizens. They don't care that aliens were involved, but unlike the dozens of properties destroyed by gem battles, a series of kidnapping are treated as a public safety concern. Granted, that doesn't mean they can DO anything about it, but the effort is appreciated.
I think Steven brought up that he may have seen the abductions coming. Considering he overheard the diamonds talking about just that, I think he really should have (granted, there wasn't really any reason they came to Beach City).
I noticed that, while biting into that jelly donut, Sadie in profile bears a bizarre resemblance to Lars—way too much to be an accident. For now, I'm going assume that's just a joke about how Lars is "not" a zombie.
The way things are heading I think they're going to make another trip to the moon in their search for Lapis and with the murals of all four diamonds it makes it a good location for White Diamond's introduction via flashback

Stop for what? Cold feet?
Steven said he wouldn't stop Lapis from leaving if she felt unsafe on Earth—so long as Homeworld is a threat, he won't go after her. If she comes back, it will be because she decides to without any more outside input. Considering the mental resilience needed to live alone in the middle of nowhere like that, she may kind of have to.
Cold feet would really be the only reason — getting as far as the moon before turning and stopping would be the cosmic equivalent of her hiding on top of that water tower when she first unfused from Malachite. And to a degree, that sounds... not implausible, given Lapis' nature, how complicated the situation is, and how conflicted her feelings must be. She has a (very understandable and rationale) borderline physiological response as far as how strongly, fast, and far she wants to flee and not get caught up in another war, but that doesn't make it easy or even what she "wants." Escape, and concurrently the abandonment of Earth, is a need, not a desire.
Not directly related to that above diatribe... I wonder if there was an earlier take on the script and sequence of events where she tried more actively to force Peridot (and Pumpkin) to come with her, only to be stopped by Steven (probably with callbacks to the whole situation with Jasper and Malachite). I was expecting it to go in that direction but... maybe they just didn't have time, at least not time that wouldn't have taken away from Peridot's take on the whole situation, as well as the "resolution" of her camping out in Steven's bathroom again.
Lapis leaving was one thing, but she also decided Peridot was coming without asking her and then took the whole barn for herself. Attempted kidnapping would escalate it to outright antagonism, even if she changed her mind about it.
Why did Lapizuli take the barn? It seemed like she didn't really care about stuff at the beginning.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Well, I just got through watching the six new episodes online, don’t ask me where I watched them all, and, I gotta say; 4/6 of them really made me think more than I would have liked.
Mostly about the decisions made throughout the string of episodes; I can understand how Connie feels, really, I do, but at the exact same time, it’s sad to see Steven be put through this, when his main goal was very selfless in the grand scheme of things. It’s just so depressing and frustrating to watch Steven go through this and to know that Connie’s not happy either, after watching what looked like a happy ending in ‘Lars’ Head’ a short while earlier. And then, there’s what happened with Lapis and Peridot, which happened just like I feared it would, in the long run: Lapis left and we’re given little reason to believe that she’ll ever come back, let alone become a Crystal Gem, and just like with Connie and Steven, I can see where the actions are coming from, so I can’t really blame Lapis for actions all that much.
Then there was the fact that no matter what Steven did, none of the good things that he tried really worked out at all. He failed to get Bill Dewey re-elected and his attempts to help Peridot twice ended up backfiring tremendously.
I’m glad that Steven and Connie were both able to work things out, but, I just don’t know what to feel about either person involved in the issue

Peridot got the dog, so she took the house.
Seriously, as depressed as Peridot was afterward, she made it obvious she would be miserable in space.

I'm just glad someone finally called Stevonnie "they" without any room for the "referring to two people at once" interpretation.
The fact that it was Kevin is just icing on the cake.
