This does make me realize that gem, although not quite Bee People, do have a bit in common with eusocial insects (Hive Caste System, all female, centralized reproduction system).

have a listen and have a link to my discord serverStrictly speaking, it is incorrect to call the Diamonds "monarchs," because a monarch is the sole ruler (the "mon-" is from the same root as "mono-"). Since the Diamond Authority is some sort of ruling council (where they each have roughly the same authority), they're properly termed "oligarchs," and Homeworld can accurately be described as an oligarchy.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. They hold courts in the way Kings and Queens do so it's not too inaccurate to describe them as such, plus they do occupy thrones in the way any king or Queen would.
Although given the Empire they rule over it would be more accurate to call them Empresses rather then a Queens

have a listen and have a link to my discord serverHolding courts and having thrones has absolutely nothing to do with being a king or queen. Kings and queens don't need either and people who are neither use both.
One could call them the queens of their separate courts, I guess but an oligarchy is a beter description of the situation.
EDIT:
Empresses would be better, yes.

I suppose holding courts and having thrones is part of an image they've cultivated so it appears like a monarchy to the gems they rule over, they'd never think to call it a dictatorship because they can just point to the fact that they each share authority so there's no one diamonds with absolute power

have a listen and have a link to my discord serverThe thing is that "monarch" is not necessarily synonymous with "king or queen." You can be a king or queen (or emperor/empress) without necessarily being a monarch - if multiple people are able to hold the top title and their level of power is more or less equal, then by definition they aren't a monarch. Similarly, you can have a really low-ranked title, or potentially even none, but if you're unquestionably the one in charge with no practical checks/balances outside of potential revolution (those always can foul things up, of course), then you are a monarch.
That said, this might all be moot - a not-uncommon WMG I've seen is that White Diamond is more or less in charge, and that Blue and Yellow are subservient to her. If that's true, then it would properly be a monarchy, with White on top (though possibly trying to masquerade as an oligarchy).
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. If we go off what we know so far
1)Yellow-Runs Homeworld's military according to Peridot and Word of God confirms it
2)Blue-It's not really clear what her role is,but if the comments I've read about Blue gems mostly being diplomats are anything to go by then she's probably Homeworld's diplomat
3)Pink- Never stated, she was the youngest diamond overseeing her first colony, for that reason she may not have had a role in the Diamond authority, she appears with the others though on the old Diamond symbol .
4)White-As mentioned above most people have guessed that White runs the empire and Homeworld itself
I don't think the other diamonds are necessarily subservient to White,it could be the other way around since they all contribute to running Homeworld in some way

have a listen and have a link to my discord serverI do want to see more of the other Pearls, especially Blue. One can only imagine the kind of secrets they'd be privy to...
I'd be surprised if it came back this month, given Friday premiers are already scheduled out to the 29th for several other shows.
I'm suspecting the whole rest of the season is going to be another month of premiers. Unless there were delays, the season should finish production before the end of the year. At first I thought they wouldn't do that outside of summer, but they did it with Gumball last February.
In case you're wondering, yes, that model sheet is real
.
Funny, I was part of the fandom back when "Steven and the Stevens" episode aired, but still managed to miss the butt lobster jokes.

Funny, I just realized you're right. The Crewniverse blog stopped doing the "selection of Characters, Props, and Effects" entries after a post for "Too Far" from more than a year-and-a-half ago
.
I guess whoever runs the tumblr decided to focus on other stuff.

Remember when I talked about Jasper receiving a hypothetical thrashing in the vein of Frieza torturing Vegeta? Would it work? Or would it just be in poor taste? (I imagine a scene like this happening while she's being reformed)
Obviously not in the same context as that scene, but maybe if she comes to a Heel Realization and uses her power as the Perfect Quartz to hold the line as the Crystal Gems escape it could work.

As far as I'm aware, eusocial insects like ants and bees usually have control over the workers via hormones, but it's not like any of the actual animals are conscious of any of this.
And of course, if the queen becomes infertile for whatever reason, the workers summarily kill her and one of them takes her place.
