The most obvious is if it affected his aging (internally or externally). Granted, he's in his late teens, definitely better off than being perpetually eight as Steven has feared, but not quite as sweet as Immortality Begins at Twenty.

So I think my problem, my one real problem with Steven Universe is that in trying to make a statement of some kind, Rebecca actually makes no statement whatsoever. Like, this is the least fleshed-out, least-defined fantasy setting I've ever seen. A war took place on earth thousands of years ago between two factions of an all-powerful alien race that, apparently, humans participated in. What is Earth's history like? What are our religions? How was our society and our culture shaped by this cataclysmic event that would forever change our understanding of everything?
Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Everything is exactly the same except there are diamonds on money and pink dots on little green alien toys. Why? Because Rebecca is a coward.
My various fanfics.Problem with Adventure Time is that after a while the world building just seems like fucking padding because the writers don't have any ideas. Oh, Finn lost his arm? Eh, just pad it out with some bullshit about Jake's tail being a clown so that we can resolve this plot in an anti-climactic manner. Steven Universe limits itself too much with Steven's POV but I at least feel like it doesn't waste as much time on pointless excursions around Beach City like Adventure Time does with Ooo.
And yes, calling her a coward is harsh.

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Part of the problem is that because things have been like this for thousands of years, no one really feels the need to question certain things and it would be awkward to bring them up. Another part is that for a good long time Steven just didn't ask questions anyone in his position reasonably would because the writers weren't ready for the plot to get to that point. And, probably most importantly, those elements are more of a backdrop to the thematically more important elements.
Like, most people would say the most important elements of Steven Universe is the diverse representation and inclusion and discussion of LGBTQ elements and such, even if people sometimes disagree on if those themes are handled well or not (see Lars and Andy). Compared to that, why there's a giant hole in Russia doesn't matter much to a lot of people.
Now, you could reasonably say "If they weren't interesting in addressing stuff like that then don't include it", but these are just the impression I get of the situation.

Ya know, I think one thing I can praise Steven Universe for is that, outside of the Cluster arc, most of the major arcs are not resolved in an anti-climactic manner. Adventure Time has such a huge problem with resolving things in a really anti-climactic fashion because the writers had no idea what to do from there. With Steven Universe, they know what they're doing at least. I still hold the Jasper-Amethyst arc in Season 3 as the best arc the show ever made with probably the single best climax since The Return and Jailbreak.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Honestly I'm left with more questions than answers with Adventure Time. Plus most of the story arcs get really annoying with how they're resolved in an anti-climactic manner that just returns to the status quo. Steven Universe's arcs usually end with something different instead of a return to the status quo. The arc with the Homeworld Gems going to Earth ends with some fairly major revelations (Garnet being a fusion, which is now a major aspect of her character), Steven dealing with the trauma of it, recurring enemies that loom over them, and the show begins shifting to a slightly darker mood as a consequence. Meanwhile, the entire Comet arc in Adventure Time ends with pretty much everything the same: Finn still has his arm (made of grass, yeah, but barely anything comes of that and it doesn't make a difference), his relationship with his dad just kinda resolves itself, Gunter is normal again and nothing ever comes of him being Orgalorg, the comet never did anything major except give Finn some character development in a really mind screw-y way, and the only major shift is that PB isn't Princess anymore, and even then it takes until the end of Stakes to shift that back. There's no fucking consequences that are long term except for with PB.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I think you went a bit off rails on this setting comparison...
But then again, why compare the 2, they're both positive...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I feel like, in the wake of Steven Universe and Gravity Falls arriving and not having the same issues Adventure Time had, Adventure Time has largely fallen into "Seinfeld" Is Unfunny territory. I look forward to and dread the day when the same thing happens to Steven Universe.

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Steven Universe is cut from the same cloth as adventure time,so the comparisons are fair and apt ,Sugar has also worked on both,so there's even more reason.
Also the absence of religion,it's very thorny area. There is however a lot of symbolism I've noticed ,I won't compile a full list here but,the ones the stick out the most are the barn and the temple, and the focus on redeeming people,as well as love and forgiveness
Also,The Gem empire reminds me very much of Romen empire, the whole conquering and subjecting people, the fighting arenas, the statues, the whole being insanely more advanced, the obsession with warrior culture ect

When I say catch I mean something other the obvious appearance change or being stuck on Homeworld, something that wouldn't normally wouldn't be problem for Lars, but it is now
Having a catch involving his return to Earth isn't what I meant, but it is interesting think about.
